Like many of you, I really liked the series, even though the behavior of Gu Hai was a bit much (like the whole…
I think this could be replaced with a kiss that BLY doesn't realize is being witnessed, or perhaps recorded. He can get mad about not being trusted and being lied to/set up. This puts it in much more palatable territory. They can even make it a forced and blindfolded kiss in some public place while BLY protests and tries to figure out where they are, and it would still be better than the original plot.
I've noticed Chinese BL novels have an extremely violent and inaccurate idea of what anal sex is like. They all seem to think it's inherently painful, bloody, and causes injuries. I think this misconception has led to some cross-over between people who like BL and people who like rape fantasies and S/M.
Granted, I haven't read very many, so this could be a false generalization.
Soo um literally made an account just to comment on this drama. I liked it. It was fresh and unexpected. The kidnapping…
That's part of the reason for the title. One character is named Gu Hai, and the other is named Bai Luo Yin, so if you put their names together you get "Hai Luo Yin" which is the Chinese word for heroin. So the title is also a pun.
Not even. I liked the two leads in this, but saying another couple with better chemistry is impossible to find…
I agree. These two had really great chemistry in most scenes, but they pretty obviously didn't actually want to kiss each other, keeping their mouths sealed tight.
Did they cut anything from the last episode? That scene (you know which one) seems to cut to the next scene pretty abruptly. If so, where can I find a complete version? (With or without subs)
It's incomplete, yes, but not really a cliff-hanger. They have wrapped up all the important ongoing plot points,…
You know the plot "guy gets girl, guy loses girl, guy gets girl back"? This is like if they stopped it before the break up. So you know there will probably be a break up and reconciliation later, but it's a satisfying comfortable place to leave the characters, in my opinion.
So, I was thinking of starting this drama, since everyone says it's so good, but I wanted to ask, is this really…
It's incomplete, yes, but not really a cliff-hanger. They have wrapped up all the important ongoing plot points, and made it clear they are about to start some new plot points, but if they had to cut it, this was a pretty good place. I'll explain under a spoiler cut below, but still vaguely enough that it won't spoil any specific plot points, just the general arc (which you can probably guess anyway).
this is my first bl series and I am BEYOND disturbed by what I've watched. *trigger warning* One of the male leads…
A lot of people who are into BL are also into CNC (rape fantasies). It's not my cup of tea either. However (I hope) most fans of this show like it as a fantasy and understand the difference between fantasy and reality.
There is a history of creating tragic gay stories. In the US, it was even the policy that gay stories had to have a tragic ending - gay lovers weren't allowed to have a happy ending together in the movies.
Because of this history, a tragic story like this doesn't feel "realistic," "interesting," or "creative". It feels like more of the same sad insistence of the world that people like us are not allowed to be happy and in love. It feels crushing and restrictive.
How many queer loved ones have I lost to suicide? I won't count. Stories like the previous HIStory series were not only entertaining, but important. They let gay people watching see that we also have the possibility of happiness.
I don't know about Taiwan, but this definitely happens in China. The parents go to the city to earn more money,…
There are lots of reasons to want grandkids for sure. I just meant that missing out on your own kids cutest years would make a person that much more excited to have grandkids now that they have the time to spend with them.
Really is it really that parents leave their young with their grandparents for years in Taiwan?
I don't know about Taiwan, but this definitely happens in China. The parents go to the city to earn more money, and leave the kids with their grandparents in their home town.
this is not a tale. you should understand that in real life everything is different. and this drama really expressed…
"Realistic drama"? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. There is nothing remotely realistic about this drama. I really hate the obnoxious tendency of people to assume that anything unhappy is "more realistic" and "more mature". I used to do anti-human trafficking work, so I am extremely familiar with the darkest aspects of life. That said, a drama in which two people communicate well, are happy, and fall in love is way more realistic than any movie depiction of human trafficking I've ever seen. Yes, bad things happen in real life. And yes, people are unhappy in real life. But real life also has good things and happiness. You are always picking and choosing what aspects of life to portray when you create a drama (after all, Zambia also exists in real life, but none of the characters went there). Choosing to display more happiness doesn't make a film or show any less "realistic".
As someone who spends a lot of time dealing with dark realities, I love watching fluff. And whether it's "realistic" or not, it certainly doesn't make me immature.

If you are looking for BL with consent, I recommend Boundary Crossing (they are talking about social boundaries and volleyball court lines, not personal boundaries) and Trapped:

This show really disappointed me.
