This was a good story with a smart FL, who doesn't go back to the cheater. I like FL's expressions, but ML wasn't…
Hey, fancy seeing you here! well, now I have to watch it even though I try not to if the general opinion is less than 7 unless story or actors involved. I like FL and you gave it thumbs up so here I go.
I am not sure what her stance was overall... If she is a modern transplant, why does she care about the dynasty marriage requirements (I am a princess, I cannot decide my marriage)? If she wants to just have fun with multiple partners - why get married at all? Honestly, her "I just want to have friends" line is not fitting with her flirtatious style of interaction with them. I would have accepted and even admire her saying "I want to have multiple partners and you can't limit me" but what she is doing is strange, almost like she is testing her own resolve and power but only with the man she loves. Which is stupid if she does not care that much about others (and it looks that way because she is handsy with them but never crossed the line of sexual intercourse with them, including enemy spy)- why hurt the person you want to be with? You end up with him as well but not after manipulating the fool. While I enjoyed it for the novel women's fantasy, it was not well though through to the end. And the end was just a bummer. Happily ever after? Seriously?
I wish sound editors would put more effort into choosing the bgm for VD. I know there is no budget for OST for these projects but there are so many nice soundtracks from lesser-known short dramas that are not well known or invoking the images from the original productions, I don't think I am the only one who recognizes the titles the music for this drama was borrowed from. I am watching emperor and his love in the most intimate moments and the images of Donfang Qingcang and 兰花 are flashing in my mind... And other occurrences like that
I hate the narcissistic tactics always shown in C-dramas: seriously, 5 thousand years of magnificent history but they make it look like it's based on bullies humiliating anybody by whom they are threatened in their puny egos. If you have no proof for your argument the best thing is to attack the character and/or debase the other party with bunch of epithets? Geez, sounds like one American president... Confucian tradition and rules made women the worst villains for their own kind - who needs enemies if you can have sisters (in and out of harem) who would skin you alive just to prove themselves better or to get a man, any man... Yikes. I liked the cp here as I did in their other dramas together, but this was not too original story and if not for the characters that were played well this would have been forgettable
I am on Li Shi Yao's spree trying to decide if he can act or is just being himself typecasted time and time again. Alas, this was a pretty good set up that went downhill really fast.
I agree, it's quite boring - but this part of the Novel was too. The constant praising gets quite tiresome. However,…
I am with you on that comment. I hear that s3 will be better, so I am waiting. Watching everything with Li Shi Yao for some reason (I think I am trying to prove/hoping he is more than just a pretty face therefore, I get the "no comparing" thingy, but I would rather look at his pretty face not able to act than what she had to do with her character. oh well.
this drama revolves around personal dynamic and relationships. I really really liked this except...
I gave it 8 from the start and by ep 18 i was scratching my head as parts of it were less than 7.25. Lack of ending made it feel like 1, so being generous I ma giving it 7

there is literally an episode missing. Right now at 20 episodes there is no resolution of all the threads we followed. I hope nobody died because it feels like they abandoned the project before it wrapped up filming or editing. The cut off is so abrupt I don't know what to think of it.
good actors are leaving the full-length c-drama for the fear of their lives and financial stability/future in the industry. Too much corruption and money laundering that force actors to do things they do not want or outright using them by those in power. Acting in short and mini dramas had been a way to make the name for yourself (Li Fei), but VD or microdramas are really where there is a lot of freedom and little regulation, so why not? I had seen more VD dramas this year than in all my years of watching and I am happy with what I am seeing also because these minis were always the fastest way from the novel, manhua or webtoon to the screen with actors and if you start looking and comparing you will know what I mean. Prisoner of Beauty the novel, PoB the drama, Yield to You VD. Check it out.
This reminded me of the heroine in The Double in her presentation. I was annoyed by the music from another drama being used here all the time. If not for the pretty faces, this would have been less than 6.75 I gave it.
It’s just for fun! I’ll try to make more better quizzes. Thank you for the feedback! >_<
I remember Cheng Yi wearing dreadful blue dress in Deep Lurk somewhere but can't find it. I can't recall all of them but am on the lookout and taking screen shots whenever I can
