hopefully my appearance is not a deterrent ha ha ha. I liked in 2025 Ban Xing Fu Sheng, Dominion and Devotion, Love and Strife, Adventure of Love, Always My General, Money Is Coming, Please Come Into My Heart-all cdrama costume as that is mostly what I watch.
I loved it and recognize why: seldom does cdrama deliver costume scenario with "historical" characters selling modern day ideas as their own. Loving oneself is common, but not giving in to swoon but being the driver of the vehicle and deciding where it goes and who gets in is another. Plus the idea of monogamous relationships and women's right to choose when to engage in intimate relationship and even initiate it. Or and don't forget a guy not wanting his love to get pregnant right away because it's dangerous and he would rather take contraceptives than put her at risk. All put together really make it modern characters in costumes. But it was thoroughly enjoyable: 8/10 for me.

I am willing to give it extra points for the whole speech in front of the emperor. I mean - for a Chinese drama to say: what right is there to sacrifice some people in the name of the country rings like the nightmare of the forced isolations and deaths during pandemic. Or systemic genocide of special groups deemed "dangerous" to national security.
much better, but his old flame comes back and it is a messy thing as of ep 19. FL is really consistent -they have their moments, but she remembers how he barged into her home and why he married her, so she is not so forgiving, but he is already making googly eyes, but is a bit of a wimp to protect her and take charge. Honestly, this part of the trope is badly written, but I am watching nevertheless. I like the romance in Threads of Destiny better. edit after watching ep 20: this is nice turn and very nice romantic episode. edit after ep 21: wow! never mind how he treats her - you gotta see how she treats him!
