yikes! whoever edited music for this drama was hearing impaired and had no experience in sound framing the scenes. Shish... I am watching Heart of Loyalty concurrently and even though it is an older drama it is beautifully choreographed visually and auditory. Too bad- this production has potential
me too! when I saw the altar and the empty space I was just chanting: empress in the shadows, empress in the shadows. The brother thing was easy to miss, but the fact that they spent so much time on showing us the excruciating humiliation of ML - that was a dead giveaway
I am not loving the overdone eye-popping thing by the otherwise good actor playing older Li, the villain. It looks caricatural and annoys me. I wonder if he knows of diversified ways to express emotions other than opening his eyes like he is going to shoot death rays from them?
he is so good as young master Li in Kill My Sins! Wow! it is easy to overdo the malicious part of a role of a villain (like unfortunately his on screen 'father' actor in that series butchered on close ups) but Liu Zhe Hui did well with rendering the spoilt brat and freaking out victim. Bravo!
I fell asleep after ep 10 and so far it's "slightly" more of a "two women fighting against each other" type story…
Oh, I like it! Better than this. Different premise, of course, but much easier to grasp the story and leads' dilemma/growth. Only on 9th episode as I watch on YT SenTV channel and they are about 10 days behind, but I like the ML there much better and so far even 2FL is not to be dismissed given she is going to be the first female emperor! 7.7/10 at this point while this was barely 6.7

I was under the same impression, but she is at this point just blah as a character. I dropped it. Will probably ask you later what you rated it. ha ha ha

thank you for a great summary! I gathered as much including the tampered blood test. What gets me is - why is FL sticking to helping her husband??? I know in second life he is just trying to find the truth and take revenge, but didn't he kill her in first life? what the heck? I don't know Mandarin to determine what they are saying openly and to themselves, so I am at a loss. This could be a better drama if we knew what the FL was going for and it was if not lofty at least justified goal. But right now, other than meekly helping husband and fending off jealous sister this is on par with Lost Track of Time where no matter what she does in 2nd life it's just depressing and resigned to whatever comes her way. I am halfway through and ready to drop

ikr? I like the FL actress; she is trying for serious now and like you I wish the subs were better. On the other hand - it this plot even followable? Can you tell me what you gather as the premise on this? I can't quite figure out what they are fighting for - not the dude, I hope. The FL is realizing she cannot change fate but so what? what is the point of this weird story????
the shortcoming of the mini drama is usually lack of common sense in the plot/characters but here it's the lack of common sense in editor. When I watch a stealth approach of a masked assassin and hear stomping of the feet on the ground plus mercilessly squeaking door I have to laugh which bumps me out of the flow of the drama
