WXY role is actually difficult to play cause he needs to avoid appearing as a cardboard and has to display microexpressions.…
That is true, he is selling from microexpressions. That rain scene, you could see love and restraint in his eyes and expression. He is very charismatic despite the role having the same collected vibe every scene. However, the fact that he is soo handsome contributes to it lol same goes for all handsome actors.
I just hope for more scenes where we can see his acting range. For me, I loooove seeing male actors in crying scenes. That's where I can tell personally.
It is noticeable the big gap between their acting experience. It is true that his role is harder to play, so I can't wait to see him prove himself, cause I believe he can.
I also have to say, one of the best chinese drama OSTs! The entire soundtrack is wonderful, everything including the ambient music in the back. Its high quality, matches the scene, and they just sound amazing, catch myself humming all the time.
I just have to give props to Wu Jin Yan, I've never seen her is anything before and she is a phenomenal actress. Wang Xing Yue is great too, but we haven't had the opportunity to see his range in this role yet. WJY delivers her emotions so well, she's funny, she's charismatic, she's heartbreaking, she's a breath of fresh air. She delivers all these emotions in a single episode. In a single scene sometimes! One of the best female Chinese actresses I've seen.
Some people might make that drunk scene cringe, no she delivered it so well! When she the ye family all together again, she had tears of joy. She showed how happy yet sad she was about both her new and old family. UGH I JUST CANT GET OVER HOW GOOD SHE IS
The female lead became wayyy too dumb too quickly, I couldnt even savour a badass FL for one episode? I'm glad though the ML figured it out right away, but how long is the FL acting like a coniving child? It gets pretty dull pretty fast.
I'm okay if she's innocent and kind, like its sweet, but I wish she wasn't so clueless.. like really no question as to who you were before? Why you are oddly strong? I know my expectations are too high for a MGTV drama but not even a little?
This is also very tropey. Im usually fine with tropes but tropes that make them seem dumb? Like trying to sneak around but being so obvious about it?
OMG I LOVE SOO MIN's ACTRESS! Ha yoon mastered this character! The SLIGHTTTTT smirk on her face when she said she was pregnant, like she was happy to have at least something over Ji Won.
Someone explain the start of episode 10 for me... Huiyeon and Jihyuk show up at her new house to help her out a little bit. Jiwon knew that Huiyeon was his sister but was there a scene where Huiyeon discovered that she knew? I don't remember seeing it.. It isn't important to the show but it wouldn't hurt to have added in something in a convo as a joke. Did I miss it?
Also, what plan was Huiyeon talking about? She was asking if the plan went well.... the meeting with the parents? like normally? Thats fair, but its worded weirdly..
I agree. The way they wrote Dilraba’s character was unfortunate. Changge is problematic in more ways than one.…
Did you read my first line?! I said she is playing the character well. Its not Dilraba's problem but the writing. You can't seem to think for yourself, using the description and everything on the surface level to form your opinions. You seem to be lacking in comprehension, up your game, then let's have a nice discussion about Changge as a character. Till then, you enjoy the show.
Okay Im on episode 32. Just have to rant cause viki fans cant use their brains and think for themselves. At this point Hao du tricked Leyan into thinking he was calling on backup to help capture Changge after finding her alive.
He is thinking she may have kidnapped the crown prince cause she was seen at the fire. THIS IS A FAIR ASSUMPTION!
Leyan slaps him after everything goes down and says Changge was with her that night so that should clear her. That is also fair assumption HOWEVER..... Changge could've asked people to kidnap him. We know how many people like her for no reason, shes the main character so people flock to her for no reason.
Leyan then says she has never done anything to hurt Great Tang. WELL I DON'T KNOW IF YOU KNOW BUT SHE TRIED TO ASSASSINATE YOUR FATHER AND RALLY TROOPS FROM YOU AND SHOU TO GO TO WAR WITH TANG. She stopped after having her epiphany about the saving the people! BUT SHE DID TRY IT!
So... it is fair to want to capture her. Hao Du and his father's crazy rampage mode to try and kill changge was intense but he did it to protect Tang cause they know she was THIS close to killing the king. People just think they're crazy cause they didn't know the balance well and all of a sudden hao du's foster dad was being a semi-good guy.
Leyan wanting to protect changge is fair and hao du trying to capture her is fair. People need to get that straight!

Dilraba is playing the character so well, you're right. Its the character thats infuriating! She is suffering from main character syndrome. Everyone likes her for no developed reason so she is allowed to live while flaunting her courage. I'm at episode 30 and I think 1 or 2 episodes prior she reflected on everyone that died because of her. I just hope that its not just a realization but it comes with change.
I don't he's passed the age at all, he'd be great if it was an original work. But Kim Dokja has softer feature…
Oh of course he can still play male leads in dramas but more mature male leads! Maybe even in those family makjangs that have like 50 episodes. He is sharp but not more than hyoseop.
LE YAN AND HAO DO BACK TOGETHER AGAIN! Honestly biggest reason why I'm watching long ballad. This is actually so cool cause their back in the Tang dynasty too!
I was afraid they casted Minho for Dok ja when they said he will play the main character LOL! Not to be that person, but minho has passed the age for roles like these. He is still handsome but there is a time when you start playing other roles. I think hyo seop will do great as dok ja, he gives very similar vibe! Jisoo did a great job acting in snowdrop, Im just wondering how she'll do here. I honestly feel like they will give her bit part just cause of her name! TRUST she'll be everywhere for promotions.

Same! I anticipate lusi's scenes! Dilraba's character has some character development but they don't show it well cause she often goes back to being stubborn and uncompromising. The biggest thing is how she gets mad at every character for not being brave, being a coward, fighting back, but she has the privilege too! Like she would not be able to do this stuff and live if the king never wanted to kill her, or a'sun didn't like her. She doesn't have any family either, nothing to lose! Its easy to say/do these things from her position, that's the main thing that bothers me. Like I appreciate how she came to appreciate Gongsun and his hesitancy, but I hope that happens with A'sun because she can't see how difficult it is for him to stand up to that man.
ALSO how she is supposed badass but whenever she fights against someone, it always ends with their sword at her neck. But then she does some cool trick to get out of a tricky situation, but then is saved again! Her badassery is only amplified by everyone's stupid actions or someone's help. She never does anything herself! She was always supported and rarely appreciates it.
