I think it's over-hyped.I had high expectations because of the hype but was disappointed, so I didn't really like it. I thought it was an awesome story with good romance but it was a good romance with good cheesy scenes. lol However I don't think it was bad. If you're in for romance with lots of mushy stuff and moe moe atmosphere you might really like it.
One good thing I noticed is the simplicity of the love story, not over dramatized with usual eternally recycled tension builders: third party interference, illness, noble idiocy , obsessive ex, etc. Just two people developing strong feelings. One bad thing I really didn't like is the idealization of soldier and doctor professions, I always found people from the two lack humility.
More often than not dramas are popular because actors are popular, or look good, or story is fan service, or visual quality is good or marketing is ferocious...rather than strength of story or quality of acting.Even I have top favorites I know damn well to be wack because too superficial. So I'm not really bothered by the hype, just think the drama is less than what it is said to be.
I dropped it cause it became romance focused. Koreans really suck at revenge dramas. Japanese are better for this…
I find they ruin it because either the focus on revenge is lost, or the revenge is not well planned, or there is no actual revenge, or the revenge is not completed and the core targets get away with it as a sign of forgiveness. I've seen many with story built around or turning into revenge. I don't recall many as I've dropped a lot. I can mention innocent man, queen seon duk (revenge started it all), swallow the sun, a man called God, a love to kill, queen of ambition, thorn birds.
I have yet to find a K-revenge drama with a good plot (the revenge part I mean). This to me is Confession or Nirvana in fire: no petty backslap but smart, cold and striking righting of wrongs and enforced atonement. *evil laugh...lol
I can't decide whether to watch this because I don't like Yi Seong Gye and anything related to his era. lol
I'm forever a Choe Yeong fan, one of the greatest man of human history, so I'm stupidly annoyed because this is basically a saga around YSG's offspring ah ah ah!
He enjoys playing tortured assholes. lol
As I don't think you can erase abuse, I'm not a fan of heroines from this type of plot. SWAK remains a twisted story only bearable in fiction so not sure if I'll watch this one...
Is it that good guys ?
ps: I have never seen a chinese drama before .^_^
It's better than six flying dragons. Little dramas match up the brilliance of this plot. Almost every single detail means smth. But it's true it depends on your taste also. If you're more into dramatization and romantic love SFD has it stronger. If you're more into smart story, strong relations, satisfying outcome NIF masters it better. It's so hard to find smth as good after this, it skyrockets your standards so the aftermath is a huge drama slump. :((
Wow I'm surprised I don't like it. Lots of comments seemed positive + the high rating. Some thing puts me off…
I think its great for people heavily focused on idealistic romance and solely a girl's perspective lol... It feels like the story is exclusively built around the characters not that characters are part of a story...s.o also mentioned it before.
Of course K-dramas R full of clichés but heavy mushiness or nonsensical situations fit best another genre. :)
One ep. they mentioned operating open a guy in a nasty dusty place near rambles to give that she's a hero feel, I was screaming inside "Please stop insulting viewers intelligence" ROFL
Wow I'm surprised I don't like it. Lots of comments seemed positive + the high rating. Some thing puts me off with the lead girl. Lead couple is boring, I liked the second couple better. It's not bad though, just not that great in my book.
Over-cheesiness and stupid unrealistic situations fit best in a drama totally non serious, like more hilarious or absurd, but to mix it with melodrama and serious topics...I don't know...it makes the whole thing seem odd. O.o
Swan I love you I do, but you need to stay out of Black's way so we can finally see some revenge pls!! Arghh come…
Yeah. I like Swan but I think I don't like she's black's "second best". Nonetheless I watch the drama for the revenge first so yep plzzzzz a little less on the romance wouldn't bother me at all!!! :)
I love these charismatic killer series.
I'm always waiting to see Bidam (Queen Seon Duk) lol.
It's true they kinda ruined his character in the end but the whole funny/sociopath killer thing was awesome.
At first this lakorn was really great and funny. I really enjoyed watching it, without skipping anything. (There're…
I feel you. Thun literally discarded his sister in the hospital then agreed to marry Champagne (even if he never intended to) just to find Tanong it was ridiculous. Kaew deciding to marry Pu because she doesn't like Thun willing to do anything to protect her @_@ Really nothing made sense anymore it was hilarious.
Mek was so gentle and kind :) I would have liked it better if Mek had the girl in the new life lol. Yet gotta admit there's smth really awesome in Thun mad: all hell breaks loose, flying objects, thunder lightening and all Wow!

Agree for Master's Sun. :)
