Honestly by the end of the drama i grew to despise Zhen Huan. Ultimately she has no one to blame but herself for…
She could not remain the same otherwise she would have been killed. In the end, she got her revenge from the king who honestly deserved to die after all the awful things he did to so many women. The theme is nothing new, palace politics is hell and no one remains unchanged after going through it.
It's feels a bit like Hanazakari no Kimitachi e joseon version lol
I couldn't stand the female lead cuz all she did was cry, complain, victimize herself and get angry, a very annoying personality. I didn't like the male lead either because of his arrogance, but then he grew on me. I liked his confidence which was often mistook for arrogance but was the result of more hard work and determination than most people, a very commendable personality in the end.
Still, my favorites are Goo Yong Ha and Cho Sun. Chosun because being such a beautiful, smart, kind, brave and hungry for justice woman in this crazy chauvinistic society must have been agony. Yong Ha because turning everything into a light joke and detaching yourself so as not to be depressed when society makes everything too ugly to bear requires a mental and inner strength little people can display. :)
I really don't like Seo Hwa ... gosh what an annoying character. The only people I liked were Yeo Wool and Wol Ryung, other than that I'm a bit disappointed by the drama. I watched it because of the comments saying it's so awesome. Hmmm I don't find it that great.
First time I watched it I really liked it. But now the second time, smth really bothers me. I hate how pathetic and weak they make her become when she falls for him. It's not nice to imply true love calls for a totally dependent and submissive woman...there's a hint of male chauvinism in this representation. They do it too often in dramas. Nonetheless she remains one of my favorite female leads, cuz she's so crazy! lol
Watching it again, amazed again. This must be one of the best asian dramas of all time.
It deals with pretty deep and traumatizing issues but the love depicted is so beautiful, you can't help crying so much you're touched. It's a well deserved masterpiece.
How could they turn Dao Ming Si into the total opposite of everything he was before???? That's precisely why we liked him!!!! That's ruining a character and ruining the drama! Arghhhhh!
Jung Kyung Ho is actually 31 years old, but he looks like 25.so Kim So Yeon looked too old for him.
@crazy_drama_ghost There's nothing wrong with your comment and it's not stupid. It was not offensive either. It's ok to feel an actress/actor looks too old or too young in a pairing. It's just a personal perception, nothing unbearable. The reaction in the other comment surprised me, I find it very immature and rude so I wanted to comment.
Bottom line is you find she looks old for him, others find she doesn't and that's it, end of story. No need to call you stupid, that's the stupidity of rudeness!
Great listing! I love drama bad boys, but only the righteous bad boys lol. I think what I like is not their meanness but the fact they're not afraid of anybody, they just don't give a shit about what others think of them, everything they do they do it with passion, so they love intensely and are extremely loyal to their friends.
Nice colors, costumes, background but a bit boring and repetitive. I'm not a fan of perfectly holy saint submissive heroines...they went to far with this in the show so she seemed non human, I rather fighting spirit and backbone. Also the emperor's character was written so weak! The females ruled the palace, they were almost almighty and males felt like puppets in their hands which is unrealistic. As a whole I'm a bit disappointed by our OTP and the storyline, but it's still ok to watch.

Can we get smth new!?
