Depends on what you like. First time watching, I had a hard time getting into the story so I skipped most parts and only watched the romance. Later (around Ep10) when I got to know the characters better, I found the plot actually really interesting and went back to rewatch everything but even rewatching, I felt like I didn't understand half of what was going on. I ended up watching a 3rd time and make a character chart. To me it is less about the romance (which is pretty good but timid, kinda slow burn) and more about the riddle. What is actually happening and who is doing what with whom?! XD

The folding fan is (as I understood) just a reminder to Dong FangLi (MLs uncle) about a case 25years ago which he messed up and innocent scholars all lost their lives. Ruyi Pav is threatening him to comply or else that case might be 'revisited' and he and his poor sick son would have no way of survival. I do not understand however what Ruyi Pavs interest is in all this. If anyone knows, please enlighten me!

That sounds pretty good, I could highlighten that not only our FL Fu Rong, has her Shifu/Master at Ruyi Pav but also that her sister paints for them. Hmmm I am going to think it more through, maybe I can come up with something for the side characters (beside showing to what family they belong)
