Finished! I loved this drama! It made me cry, laugh, smile, and feel angry and sad, etc. It made me feel all kinds of emotions.
The main plots (the leads’ three lifetimes and that mirror that leads to the river), the side plots, the cast, the characters, the acting, the production, the music, the costumes, the fighting scenes, the background scenes, the character’s powers, etc., were all great and excellent.
What I did not like were those moments and scenes that were fillers, dragged on, or had idiotic moments. But I fast-forwarded those scenes, so it’s all good.
Also, there were too many characters who died for nothing, died too fast, or did not deserve it at all. Especially likeable characters whom I got to know and like; especially characters like Dali, those three demons who were locked up for 10,000 years, Pian Pian, A Li (the mountain elf), etc. There were many characters who did not deserve to die at all.
As for the ending, the leads went through three lifetimes and 10,000 years passed, and they still did not manage to end up together in a proper way. They always have obstacles blocking them.
Like, I get that she went back in time through her memories to meet Hong Ye again, but did she really meet him again? Or is Xiao Yao deluding herself and seeing him in the past life of their third lifetime?
Anyway, the ending can be interpreted differently, but for me it is not satisfying. At the very least, they could have let the leads end up together properly after all they went through in their first and second lifetimes. I’m sad, but I still loved the drama anyway and do recommend it.
Overall, I did enjoy this drama. However, the story did get draggy at times and had a lot of long scenes. I fast-forwarded through some of them. I think if it were about four episodes shorter and got more to the point; especially at the beginning; it would have been better.
Anyway, I loved the cast and the characters, especially Saint and Shin. Their chemistry, acting, and friendship (or more than friends, whatever you want to call it) were amazing. They really carried the drama.
I understand why people love Sky and Nani together. I don’t mind if they are not a CP couple; they don’t have to be. For me, having good actors and good chemistry is enough. There are many CP couples who don’t have much chemistry, or whose acting isn’t that good.
As for the rest of the characters, I really liked Class 2. They started out hating each other and ended up becoming the best of friends. I also loved their homeroom teachers and how much they cared about them. I liked how they ended up feeling more like a family. Honestly, I hated their constant fighting throughout the drama, especially since they were often fighting over nothing; but that was the point of the story, and they are still kids, after all. Thank goodness it got better as the drama went on.
It took me two years to finally watch this drama, and I’m glad I did. It’s definitely worth checking out :)
Honestly, I liked the movie (or I'm calling it Season 1) better. This season feels more like filler in terms of the story. I get that Cha U-sol wanted revenge because of Lee Won-jun, but it feels like the story leads to nowhere special.
The rest: the music, fight scenes, cast and characters, acting, and production; were just as good as in the first one.
Honestly, if they decide to continue it (and I really hope they do), I think a third season would be much more interesting. The ''team'' could all compete in the rookie championship. The story would have more meaning, whether they are fighting for the prize money or, in Cha U-sol’s case, because he truly loves fighting, wants to improve his skills, and eventually hopes to beat his coach, Jung Do-hyun.
I enjoyed it. I loved the training part, thanks to Jung Do Hyun, and seeing Cha Woo Sol improving in his mental and physical strength.
I loved that he kept being humble even after defeating all the strong opponents and making friends. Best of all, I loved seeing him defeat his bully, Bae Seok Chan. Although I kind of wanted him to destroy him, I loved that he walked away after beating him when he saw that Bae Seok Chan feared him. It felt like his purpose; to be strong and overcome his bully; was fulfilled.
I loved the acting, the cast and characters, the bromance, the music, the production, and the fighting scenes. For the story, there wasn’t much to it; it was mainly about surviving in prison and was more focused on the fighting; but that was the point of it. I enjoyed it overall. Off to see season 2!
Overall, I did enjoy this drama. The story was good, and I liked the characters, the couples, the cast, the acting, the music, and the production. However, in the middle of the drama, there were too many filler episodes, and it could easily have been shorter and more to the point.
On the other hand, the ending, where the female lead goes back to her world and reunites with the male lead, who also happens to be from the same world, was too short. I’m happy they got together, but what about the rest of the characters and couples from the ancient/story world? It feels incomplete, with lots of questions and loose ends.
As for the emotional relief from FX and YSL and the lack of other couples... in the novel there is a side couple…
Thank you for clarifying and satisfying my curiosity :) I had initially thought that Xue Bao Tian would be in a side couple, since he kept complaining abut someone when they were at a club.
But then the story did not eleborate on him further, and then I forgot him and the name he mentioned.
Then, I just remembered about him and the name 'Zhang' when you told me that in the novel there is a side couple.
I don't think the 'Zhang' guy ever appears, I'm not sure. He just mentions him.
Maybe, I'll get around to reading the novel later on, definitely not know. I'll rest my mental well-being first and watch positive dramas now :D
As for the emotional relief from FX and YSL and the lack of other couples... in the novel there is a side couple…
I haven’t read the novel yet, so I didn’t know that; thank you for letting me know. If they were worse, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to bear them. Out of curiosity, is the side couple Xue Bao Tian and Zhang Shi Cheng?
The acting was great, the leads’ chemistry was sizzling, their kiss scenes were amazing, and I really loved them together. The music and the production were also very good. The story was dark but addictive, you never know what is going to happen next. Even the work-related plot was not boring and did not drag.
However, the relationship between You Shu Lang and Fan Xiao was too much. Fan Xiao was far too obsessed with You Shu Lang. He stalked him and controlled his entire life. He claimed that he loved him to the point of almost destroying him. It felt like either You Shu Lang was going to end his own life or end up killing Fan Xiao.
Yes, Fan Xiao “redeemed” himself and changed for the better near the end of the drama. But honestly, if I were You Shu Lang and had gone through all of that in a relationship; plus lie after lie, all for such a stupid reason, since Fan Xiao believed You Shu Lang was pretending to be a saint and wanted to reveal his “true” nature; I would never forgive him. No one deserves to go through something like that, and I truly hope nobody ever does.
I know the writers wanted to give the leads a happy ending, and I do love them together. But considering how the story unfolded, I would not have made them end up together. You Shu Lang went through far too much.
On the other hand, You Shu Lang also seems addicted to pain, since he went back to Fan Xiao. Like… what? Their relationship is the darkest one I have ever seen in any drama. I am glad that You Shu Lang was not a doormat and that he got his revenge as well.
Fan Xiao is the biggest red flag I have ever seen in any drama, BL or straight. Honestly, neither of them is in a healthy state of mind. I recently watched ABO Desire and thought Hua Yong was a red flag; but Fan Xiao wins first place by a thousand miles.
I truly admire those who binge-watched this drama, because I had to pause it for a few days. It was simply too much for me. The drama offers almost no emotional relief at all and focuses almost entirely on You Shu Lang and Fan Xiao. There were no other couples.
The only real ray of sunshine was when You Shu Lang adopted the child. It was a relief for him and a relief for me, because finally there was something positive in the story.
As I said, I have very mixed feelings about this drama. I both hated and loved it and thank heavens I finally finished it.
I finally watched this drama after forgetting about it, and I’m glad I finally did! ^_^
I loved the story and the sub-stories from beginning to end. They made me feel all kinds of emotions. I also enjoyed the supernatural plot; it’s always interesting to see different interpretations of demons, hell, angels and similar themes.
I also enjoyed the characters and the cast. I loved the acting as well; well done to everyone! I especially loved the character of the female lead, her sassiness, and her way of getting things done as a human judge and as a demon.
As for the leads, they were cute together. I loved how they slowly fell in love and how the story focused more on them toward the end, which felt very fitting for this type of drama.
The ending was good and appropriate, but it left me curious. Would Kang Bit Na, also known as Justitia, go back to hell, or would she choose to kill ten sinners and remain human? I don’t know if they plan to make a second season, but if they do, it would be great to see Kang Bit Na / Justitia continuing to give criminals what they deserve.
Overall, it was good but not great, as stated in some of the comments I read. I loved the action scenes, the acting was great, the production quality was solid, and I really liked the character of the female lead.
However, the story became draggy and boring at times. In some parts, it did not make much sense and felt incomplete. The relationship between the mother and daughter also felt underdeveloped. Additionally, all the killing felt pointless and for nothing. I understand that there were “reasons,” but I still did not like it.
I enjoyed this movie. I loved the action scenes, the production, the music and the acting. Sure, the story had some loopholes, but I loved it overall. With the ending, a possible 2nd movie? I would look forward to it, if so.
Overall, the whole story was interesting and quite original for a BL Chinese drama. However, the drama was not perfect, and there were many things I did not like.
What I liked about the story was the beginning, as the setting was interesting, with the whole world getting a disease and humans turning into Alphas, Betas, Omegas, etc.
However, the middle of the story turned boring. It got too detailed about the drug that Sheng Shao You wanted to use to heal his father. They could have cut this part short. Then, the story turned for the better from the end of episode 10 onwards, when the lies were finally exposed and the truth came out.
As for the lead couple, I have nothing against the actors. I loved them together; they were cute and had good chemistry.
However, their characters were insane, especially Hua Yong’s character. Although their relationship ended well with a happy ending, Hua Yong was basically a stalker and a psycho, forcing himself on Sheng Shao You and making him dance to his tune.
Hua Yong lied to Sheng Shao You for almost the entire drama and showed no remorse at all. For me, that is not okay. It was only because of the earthquake at the end of episode 10 that Hua Yong had to tell Sheng Shao You the truth. If not, he would have continued lying to him. Honestly, I could not bring myself to ship them before that point. Love cannot be built on lies.
The story did improve once the truth was out and Hua Yong finally told Sheng Shao You everything. Their relationship only worked because Sheng Shao You reciprocated Hua Yong’s “love” and forgave him. How he forgave him, I cannot comprehend. It basically felt like Stockholm syndrome at that point.
As for the second lead couple, Gao Tu and Shen Wen Lang; if you can even call them a couple, what the heck? We did not see any development between them at all. I didn’t need kiss scenes, but they should have shown us something. These two could not communicate at all, and Shen Wen Lang was constantly harsh toward Gao Tu.
I also wish Gao Tu had spoken up for himself more. I felt really bad for him. He has trauma and feels shame about being an omega; first because of how his father treated his mother for being an omega, and then because he fell in love with Shen Wen Lang, who hates omegas.
Yes, we do find out why Shen Wen Lang hates omegas, but I still liked Gao Tu more and was firmly on his side. Shen Wen Lang only realized he loved Gao Tu after Gao Tu left; and rightly so. He treated him badly, and I was cheering for Gao Tu to leave. Their reunion was extremely unsatisfying: just a hug, with no real communication between them. What the heck?
Anyway, overall, this drama is not bad, and I did like the couples. However, the story had many elements I did not enjoy, and most of the characters were clearly not in the right state of mind.
I loved the Japanese drama version! Of course, my favourite will always be the webtoon. I did like the Korean drama version as well. You could say I love both live-action adaptations.
The Japanese drama version is more fast paced, more realistic, and not as exaggerated, and the revenge was more toned down compared to the Korean version. I loved that the Japanese drama did its own take on the story, and even on the characters. For me, the way the story was told suited the Japanese style very well.
It took me a while to watch this version, and I’m glad I finally did ^_^
Honestly, I’m not sure how to feel about this drama. I liked it, and at the same time, I have mixed feelings about it.
One of my main reasons for watching it was Boun and Prem. I usually watch dramas because of the story and rarely because of the actors. However, I first watched these two in Until We Meet Again and then in Between Us, and I’ve loved them ever since and was looking forward to seeing them here. They are one of my favourite BL ship couples ^_^ Although they did not have the steamiest kiss scenes in this drama, they were cute and sweet together <3
Now, for the story. Honestly, it was interesting, and I loved the first episode and how they met, etc. I really liked how it was filmed, and the place they chose was very fitting and suited the theme well, especially when Punn released Ramil from the painting.
Then I got excited when I guessed that Punn was a hunter, which explained why he accepted Ramil so quickly into his home, etc., but then he fell in love with Ramil and delayed killing him. The story did build up, and things were revealed one at a time, and it did make sense.
However, maybe it’s because I’m getting more impatient as I grow older, but the story felt slow and draggy at times. Maybe because they lightened up the story? I think I would have preferred it if it were darker. Honestly, I don’t know exactly. Also, the acting was not bad. It was questionable at times, but overall, it wasn’t bad.
I can say that I liked the drama, but something felt off about it. That said, I liked the production, the places they filmed in, and the music as well. It fits the vibe of the story. I also liked the cast, the characters, and the family-like feel between them.
As for the ending, is it to be continued? It feels like they could explore werewolves next if they decide to continue it. At least that’s what I think the owner of the moon paintings is, since his eyes glowed blue. A BL story with a vampire and a werewolf couple would be interesting to watch.
Whether to watch this drama or not is up to you and your reasons; you may like it, or you may not.
This drama wasn’t perfect, and it started to drag at one point, but overall, I enjoyed it. You could say there was nothing special going on in the drama; it was the usual stuff like work, home, relationship problems (or lack thereof), wanting to do this or that but somehow not being able to, growing old, etc. However, I liked it. I also liked the leads together; they were cute.
On the other hand, I’m turning 30 this year, and honestly, I could relate to this drama. I find myself wanting to do lots of things but not having the guts to do so, especially when it comes to relationships.
Honestly, I’m not sure if I want to be in a relationship. I have never fallen in love with anyone or been in a relationship. But being surrounded by so many people, my age; older or younger; who are either married, in a relationship, have kids, etc., makes me feel pressured, weird, or out of place.
I even find myself feeling embarrassed or lying when someone asks me if I’m in a relationship or if I ever was in one. At my age, it feels weird that I’ve never been in a relationship. At the same time, I wonder if, because I never put myself out there to find someone to be with, I’ll end up alone.
Anyway, this drama made me think and reflect a lot. I should have more courage and do the things I want to do. As for relationships, I need to think more deeply about it; or just go for it.
Back to the drama, I think this drama is not for everyone, but it’s worth checking out :)
Honestly, the second season was draggy, and when you think the female lead got her revenge in season 1, she actually did not and continued her revenge in season 2. Also, some characters who were supposed to be dead were somehow still alive.
They even added another male lead to drag out the romance, even though there was barely any.
However, what I loved about these two seasons; and the point of the story overall; was the female lead getting her revenge as a commoner and a businesswoman who rose to power and helped those like her, while mostly relying on her wits and abilities. To be fair, she had help as well, but she mostly relied on herself.
Honestly, I do not mind that she refused to get married. After what she went through, and considering how the laws and systems were at that time; especially since women had to give everything to their husbands after marriage and were treated like carpets; I understand why she would not want to get married.
I loved the first season more, but this season was not bad, even though the story became draggy. Overall, I still recommend this vertical drama.
