Great article :) I remember it coming out and I was excited about it.
However, it was really horrible and had lots of problems like you mentioned. Yes, the production was low budget, they changed the actors many times, bad acting, etc. Everything was horrible.
I think they tried to copy the korean style of acting which doesn't suit them or we're not used to see american series or movies do. So it turned horrible, ugly, disastrous and fake.
I had forgotten about it lol. I can't believe 7 years have already passed.
Thanks for the article ^_^ I really love all these secondary actors you mentioned, they're all awesome actors who deserve more recognition and more roles.
For Lee Yi Kyung, he usually acts comedy roles, and he's awesome in them, but then I watched him 'Children of Nobody', where he had a serious role and he really impressed me.
He's really different from his character in 'Partners for Justice'. You should watch him there, if the story interests you.
Loved it! It was really interesting to watch the training police students do, some of the things they learn, etc. They are really strict, really polite, serious and tense.
I see that Kazama Kimichika really wanted to teach his students, is that they need to be true to themselves and help people the best way they can. It is ok to make mistakes, we are human and from those mistakes we can learn from them and use them to understand other people.
It's a shame it was short. It would be nice to see Kazama Kimichika again with different students.
currently watching and on episode 18....... (15/03/2020)
I like the main couple, good chemistry and they are cute together :D I also like the cliche parts between the main couple. Moreover, I like the story about her being an alien and we see her powers ^_^
However, the story is too draggy and I hate the amnesia part that he forgot her.
I'm fast forwarding to get it over it + although it has 28 episodes, it feels like it doesn't want to end, uhh!
EDIT: Finished! (16/03/2020)
I finally finished it with lots of fast forwarding.
Long story short, Feng Leng got over his trauma and remembered everything about Chai Xiao Qi.
Feng Leng and his brother know that she is an alien and needs to go back to her planet to heal properly.
Xiao Bu, her turtle pet aka her AI managed to take out the sapphire from Feng Leng's heart.
Chai Xiao Qi was taken to her planet and Feng Leng waited for her for 2 years and he developed a product after her.
Chai Xiao Qi appeared and is officially staying on Earth as her planet send her as an ambassador to represent her planet for peace.
The story was not bad, I mostly liked the scenes of the main couple and the parts where they showed the super powers of Chai Xiao Qi. However, the story had many filler plots and the story could have been much shorter and to the point.
Instead, they should have included more information about Chai Xiao Qi, the difference between her and humans, her planet, her planet's customs, etc. It would have been interesting.
The only time we get to know more about her is when she got kidnapped by that researcher and some things we found out about her in the beginning of the drama.
We found out her blood is blue, her blue blood creates sapphires, she heals quickly, she is strong, she can transport easily, she doesn't sweat, she can speak different languages, etc.
Also, what happened to the blue blood that researcher extracted from her? And why does her blood create sapphires? There are many questions about her left hanging.
They could have opened so much since they created an alien story, but they prefered to show the usual office drama, with the usual cliches, uhh! Ok, I can't complain since I loved the main leads together, but the alien story was interesting and should have focused on that! And it's mostly why I wanted to watch it.
Anyway, the acting was good and all actors were great. I also liked the characters. The music was not bad either, it was pleasant to listen to.
currently watching and on episode 11..... (10/03/2020)
I love it. It's so beautiful and makes you feel all kinds of emotions from laughing to crying. Also, the twist they did I totally did not see it coming.
The story started with a watch where Kim Hye Ja found it when she was a little girl. She started to rewind that watch and go back in time whenever she wanted to change the past. This resulted in her aging fast.
Anyway, lots of things happened where her father died and she rewinded the watch many times, until Kim Hye Ja was finally able to save her father. However, the price she paid was that she turned really old. From 25 years old she turned to a 70 year old woman.
We see her ''adventures'' as a 70 year old woman and help her friends, her family, Lee Joon Ha and other elderly people she got to know when she attended a place that was made to gather elderly people and use different ways to get money from the elderly people.
The mission part was my favourite. This is where Kim Hye Ja gathered all the elderly people who did not sign the insurance, saved the other elderly people who were going to get killed for their insurance and also saved Lee Joon Ha, who was kidnapped. It was really hilarious, kind of exaggerated but awesome xD
To be honest, I stopped watching on episode 7 and paused it for 9 days, as somehow it was getting irritating. Or maybe the story was moving slow. I don't know, something felt missing.
Anyway, I continued it and from episode 10 onwards, I was totally shocked. I totally did not expect that Kim Hye Ja, the elderly woman actually had alzheimer's disease and totally twisted the reality with her past memories.
So we get to see the actual reality of Kim Hye Ja and we get to see how alzheimer's disease actually is and what it can do to you.
Also, this drama makes you understand more elderly people and appreciate them more. Yes, they can be slow, take time to understand certain things, etc, but we need to be understanding, patient, make them happy, etc.
So, basically what we saw from the beginning until now, was totally a made-up life of Kim Hye Ja. She actually lived in the 70's and not in the present time. Wow, it was a really big twist, I love that :D
Also, the people around her were included in her made-up life. Her parents were actually her son and daughter-in law. Her friends were old like her. The elderly people were in the nursing home that Kim Hye Ja was in, etc. The story really took a different turn.
Last episode left............
EDIT: Finished!! (10/03/2020)
I cried so much in the last episode. It was too sad. Kim Hye Ja literally did not know what hit her. The next her husband is in jail for who knows what and the next he's dead. It's too sad!!!!
At least Kim Hye Ja's son understood more his mother and why she was harsh towards him while growing up + he was not a burden on her. Ok, she may have changed and did not show her love towards her son after her husband died, but she did love him, did her best to raise her son and put food on the table.
It was beautiful and makes you appreciate your life more. It tells you to be grateful for little things, be grateful for your family, health, etc as you never what will happen and lose them.
It was a great story, great characters and awesome acting :D Definitely worth a watch ^_^
I totally agree that the recent k-dramas are boring, especially the story. Like it starts out great, but it gets draggy, boring or uses the same plots and you guess what will happen or how it will turn out. My favourite stories are when I do not guess at all and turn up with a twist or a plot I couldn't imagine ^_^
And as you mentioned some k-dramas like 'Her Private Life'. I loved it because of the amazing acting and chemistry of the main leads, the story was ok.
However, maybe it's also because I grew up and I don't like them that much anymore. I feel like my tastes changed from when I was 13 to now 10 years later. I used to love school dramas and cliches plots, but now not that much anymore. It depends anyway, sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't.
currently watching and on episode 5...... (24/02/2020)
I like it. It is interesting and gets you intrigued.
It makes you want to find out more about the Hansol Orphanage and about the children in the orphanage.
Why were most of them killed? Were most of them a product of artificial insemination? And they were like experimenting on them? Which is why Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 has blue eyes?
But still why was Do Hyun Jin / Lee Young Eun kept alive and adopted by Do Jae Hwan? She was part of the orphanage. Or he adopted her to keep his wife happy, since she is mentally unstable.
Also, other questions like; why did Pavel raise Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88? He had no reason to, especially since he was an assassin.
Why did Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 decide to keep Kang Seul Gi alive, even after she is a witness of a murder case that Pavel committed? Ok he said the reason is that she was too young, being 11 years old at that time, but still people grow up and can talk.
For Do Hyun Jin / Lee Young Eun, she is suspecting Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 being her friend from the orphanage. But I don't think she is suspecting him as the killer yet.
It does make you question lots of things and thus makes you continue watching to find out.
However, I don't know what it is but there is something that makes me feel bored or puts me off in this drama.
Maybe it's because of the tension in the drama, it is mostly serious and gives you no breath at all. Also, there is barely any comic relief, so maybe it is suffocating me.
Ok, it does make sense that there shouldn't be any at all, and I do like how the story is being presented. But as I said there is something missing in it.
Or maybe, it's the feeling of helplessness. It's like the more you dig in the story, the more ugly things come up and there is the feeling that you cannot do anything about it.
Also, I have a feeling that the main lead will end up badly since he's an assassin or others characters end up badly + the tragedy genre gives you a bad feeling.
I don't know what it is. Maybe the missing thing I'm feeling are not these things I mentioned at all.
Anyway, the animals are really cute though and seeing some of the characters smile at the animals, gives you some relief and see some positivity in the drama.
Anyway, it's not the best ever, but it's not bad. I will definitely continue watching it.
The last 2 episodes were the best ever and really heart breaking at the same time! I cried so much!!! T_T
Even if Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 killed many people and did deserve to go to jail for the rest of his life, they shouldn't have killed him!
He was a victim himself! Plus, he gave the police many evidences and helped them arrest the bad ones. So they could have at least let him live. I knew it that he would die, my bad feeling was right.
Also, Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 is right in many ways. Like Do Hyun Jin / Lee Young Eun's adoptive father would have definitely been released and killed those children. The law protects the corrupt ones who have wealth, power and connections and casts the weak ones aside.
I know murder is wrong, and he shouldn't have killed, but it's thanks to him that the children are safe and even the sponsors and the ones involved were arrested. He deserved a better ending or at least lived. I really cried so much!! T_T
But still murder is wrong. This drama really plays with your morality. You cannot help but agree with Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88's methods and reasons.
Moreover, it was really sad when Seul Gi begged Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 to stay and cooked her the last meal.
Even when Philip shield the bullets for Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88. I totally did not expect that, he was the greatest friend ever and also did not deserve to die either.
I really cried so much at those parts. So sad and heart breaking!
It's still a mystery why Pavel raised Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88. Apparently, he should have killed him. Maybe, some conscious formed and thus he raised him instead. Well, Pavel did feel guilty that he raised Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 as a killer and told him to choose a better path when he was on the verge of death.
Also, the children were numbered, seen as objects and their purpose of life were to be sacrificed and give their organs to their sponsors. So cruel!
The mystery of Kim Soo Hyun / Number 88 blue eyes, which btw we never saw again, were that they experimented with the dna and changed the chromosomes. Human lives are not there to experiment on!!
Do Hyun Jin / Lee Young Eun's adoptive father was really cruel and had no conscious at all. Evil to the end and really deserved to die.
I love the cast, characters, animals, music, acting and the story.
Ok, it was not perfect and as I said above, it had something missing. But the last 2 episodes were great and gives you hope. However, it did make me cry so much.
I watched the anime recently and liked it. Then I found out that there is a live action drama and wanted to watch it :)
It was very interesting on how they managed to tell the story in one minute ^_^
It's the first time I've seen a drama like this. It's like they are doing the fast forward of an episode for me and has no filler plots or extra plots.
The story is really identical to the anime and few things are changed but I enjoyed it ^_^
It's cute and entertaining <3 The ghosts reminded me of Casper, they're really adorable <3
For the acting, it's a bit fake, but not bad. It's like an anime style acting.
Also, the story is still not finished. I hope they continue it in this style :)
However, I can only judge the story as it was shown.
However, it was really horrible and had lots of problems like you mentioned. Yes, the production was low budget, they changed the actors many times, bad acting, etc. Everything was horrible.

I agree with you on extraordinary you. I mostly liked the first 10 episodes and liked that the story was based in a comic world.
