Title Good Bye, My Princess Spoiler
I just saw someone post an emotional scene with him and sese her caressing his face and him dropping a tear, I'm…
I like the current YouTube clip ending where she has the sword and takes her own life. In the novel, it's the only way she can get away from the CP and life in the Eastern Palace. Her riding away with A'du would somehow detract from the first 10 episodes of how much they felt for each other. Ugh, the love confession to SeSe is so annoying and contradicts the best episodes of this drama!

If they were going to deviate this much from the original storyline, why not have her run off into the sunset with General Pei and A'du and leave CP with guttergirl SeSe. I agree with you on the Gu Jian character.....flaws and all up until episode 44, I really enjoyed this character.

Here's the latest post from Marcus Sim on the ending. My sleep will be sooooo much better after this series ends. I really hate the fact they've deviated from the novel so much, but I'm hanging in there until the bitter end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1J88m_3-Ds&t=94s

I read someone said on IG that it was not the director's or the prod team's error but it was Youku's for not broadcasting…
I think they did a great job capturing the essence of the novel up to the last few episodes. Then, who knows what alcoholic beverage the screenwriters were drinking when they started this SeSe love arc. They took a guy who was obviously in love with the princess, betrays her and wipes out her entire family but has the capacity to love another woman???? Yeah, I can feel the blood boil begin. I hate to see this drama, which was so unique at the beginning, turn into a frat party typewriters mistake.

According to the comments on fastdrama.me site for GBMP, in episode 42, CP tells GP that he feels responsible for SeSe but he has to protect XF from her and he can no longer ignore what she's been doing. So, I'm hoping this snippet from 42 is correct and the show can redeems itself before I start yelling.

You've made my day if the director releases another version. It's very easy to see that a coherent production has been tampered with.

I honestly do not think I can watch it without throwing something at the screen. I think SeSe should be given the same importance as in the book; she was a means to an end. If they are going to deviate this much from the original story and turn the CP into a erroneous douche, let XF go off into the sunset with General Pei. He's the only one that honestly did not betray her.

I have never liked tragic romances, but somehow I can't get enough of these tortured men crying. Maybe there's…
Not at all. I absolutely despise tragedy when it's done in a storyline trope way, but this is a multilayered narrative with characters that engage in the grey area defining good and bad. I love it!

wtf man, he has feelings for sese and got sick because not able to see her and protect her? then our poor princess…
I wrote about a YouTube post below mentioning the same things. The show is starting to put a softer spin on the Prince's character than what was written in the book. When the SeSe character comes on screen, it gives me the same reaction as listening to nails on a chalkboard. I'm guessing the writers did not want to portray LCY as heartlessly using SeSe for his own gains.

It is lame to slap Xiao Feng but not because he really thought XF was the mastermind. It was obviously a play…
It should be out in raw form today. I usually watch the ones without subtitles on this site http://fastdrama.me/. There are a few people fluent in Chinese that give scene interpretations.

Marcus Sim did a clip on YouTube talking about casting for this drama. They were waiting for a drama "goddess" to play Xiao Feng and finally decided on Peng Xiao Ran a month before production began. Also, there were misgivings about Chen Xing Xu playing Li Cheng Yin because he might not be handsome enough. Personally, I think both the lead actress and actor have nailed their parts and couldn't imagine anyone else in these roles.

Thank you so much for this! I waffle back and forth between what is an act and what his actual feelings are. Without watching a raw episode 37 to help cool down, I was ready to blow the Prince's character right off the drama map.

I've tried to understand LCY, but in episode 36, I'm ready to shoot the SOB myself.

Good questions! These are my thoughts.1. So, I'm assuming you're referring to the entire story, starting from…
Love your thoughts on this! I think Li Cheng Yin did fall in love with the Princess at the Danchi base also. In the latest episodes, I believe he's taken his advisors words to heart and has started hardening his emotions. What seems to be left is possession justified by the thought he is protecting her. As far as Gu Jian, I think her crush would have turned into love had she not met the 5th Prince. The ending has me completely torn up thinking about. This sounds insane, but there just doesn't seem to exist (in my very amateur opinion) an avenue open for a happy ever after. Perhaps the best ending would be that the 5th Prince learns a very hard lesson of loss and turns that into being a compassionate and fair emperor.
