Very well said. People are looking for a fluffy weightless romance and that is not what this drama is. It goes deeper into what relationships are and the characters are multidimensional. The humor is just so well done!

Yes Li Xun was pitiable- it was like life had let him down. Whenever he was trying to stand up something would drag him down. That is why you wanted to root for this guy. Because he never succumbed to it. Climbing the mountain! Some of those dialogues had such profound meaning

Yes Scarlett o O’Hara. is a very good example. So is Bridget Jones. All very atypical FLs. They are supposed to intrigue, frustrate and fascinate you. And the thing is they are all highly intelligent women but suck at relationships . And that is what makes them interesting

Well these viewers want a FL who just panders to the ML’s expectations. The fact that she is out of the box and eccentric really turns them off. And yes this is something new- this drama was funny with very interesting characters. It is a very interesting study in psychology as well. And they are all imperfect and that is what makes it enjoyable. I agree with your comments 100%. This drama should be enjoyed for what it is.

He He! Yep absolutely!

A lot of people did not understand the relationship between the leads in L&P. You remember that scene where the prof compares Li Xun to the ‘Mirror of Erised’ from Harry Potter. That is what he really was for Zhu Yun - she found her identity and strength through him otherwise she would have led the life of a puppet - her mom being the puppeteer. That relationship was far from toxic- yeah they went through some really bad stuff but they were there for each other. I found Li Xun’s character to be very pitiable and someone who had gone through so much in life. And he really took care of the people he liked . And everyone tried to help him in the end- if he were toxic or a narcissist- thAt would not have happened. And what support characters are these? - Gao, Xu Lina, Fang or Zhu Yun’s toxic /abusive mother (parents). This drama was about the strong leads and their story - not the side characters. The leads’ relationship was not at all toxic. The FL was a very strong woman who knew what she wanted and went after it. The ML respected her for who she was. This was a power couple on the making. A relationship is not just kisses and roses- and what they went through had so many external factors attached to it- so you cannot blame either of them. I have defended this drama one more time here. It’s one of my all time favorites - the best modern C- drama I have watched . So nuanced and deep!
