I disagree- this is the wrong way for friends and family to let someone deal with grief. This is not a white lie. It goes beyond that . When someone has suppressed tho see memories and refuses to deal with it then that is a psychological issue that cannot be taken lightly. For her mental health friends and family should rather be honest with her and help her deal with it. In no context what they are doing is right. 12 yrs is too long

Yes they are. Her trauma is part of the reason. Actually Yang Zi has acted well - if you observe her character you can see that she is clearly not normal and the reason for that is the trauma. And I feel like the ML is also very reluctant to close that distance .
