It's been months yet I'm still madly in love with Qing Niao. What a character - cool, quiet yet fiercely loyal. I love the White fox too, I hope they keep the actresses for Season 2 but I have a feeling Zhang Tian Ai is going to be tough to get a hold of if they don't give her more screen time in season 2.
No homo or anything but anyone else thinks Yang Yang maybe the most Anime/Manhua looking real person there is? What I mean is, when other actors put on fantasy costumes/their national dress, they look like a modern person in Ancient attire. (Don't get me wrong they still look incredibly good).
But Yang Yang in Hanfu looks like straight out of a Manhua. It's either his face structure, hair or the eyes, I can't quite pin point. There's a Donghua, Manhua called the King's avatar, I read/watched the series even before I knew Yang Yang existed, when I saw the live action I went wtf the actor looks exactly like the protagonist in the manhua.
Alright who else thinks Prince Chang's actor Zhang Tian Yang is supremely underrated? He's a phenomenal actor being overshadowed by all the big names in the drama he's in.
I only started noticing him from his role as Scholar Lin in Sword Snow Stride, his character redeemed himself there. He also played Xu Zhu in Demi gods and Semi devils. Imo, he deserves more prominent roles.

They marketed Wuxia as one of the genres, not as a pure Wuxia drama.
Case in point, Nirvana in Fire was marketed and recognized as Wuxia but the main plot is all about court politics. Yet NiF is critically acclaimed, so your point?

Court fighting/Harem isn't not the premise of the drama? Who decided that, are you the producer? Are you the writer?
You can go ahead and count the total number of minutes that include court fighting scenes and compare it against other scenes, it's not even 10%.
It's up to the director, producers and writers to decide what this drama is or isn't about. Not you.
It can be a combination of court politics, war, adventure, romance, Wuxia etc. They never marketed it as belonging to one primary genre.
Also others are stating their opinion and so am I. My comment about main leads not hoarding screen time is directed against comments that are complaining as such, not directing at everyone on this page in general.
If you choose to be selectively blind and try to strawman me, that's your problem, not mine.
I guess, you should know what is the meaning of drag storyline too. Don’t cover up the fact with your own excused…
Also maybe broaden your scope of Cdramas outside of modern or history romance to something more truly historical like Advisors Alliance, Qin Dynasty Epic, Romance of three Kingdoms etc. or the upcoming the Wind blows from Longxi.

Yes, that's your opinion as you've said it. Joy of Life and SSS are also S+ dramas on my list, even then they both have court drama and other characters scheming and taking away screen time from MC.
Let's see, Joy of Life has utterly useless romance between MC and the chicken leg girl who contributes next to nothing to the plot whatsoever, SSS also has nearly 8 episodes worth of MC chasing after his younger brother to Wutang and visiting his eldest sister which could easily have been condensed into 2-3 episodes.
In the end, as TV dramas they have to appeal to a broad audience of different ages, I personally really don't like romance but I tolerate it or even convince myself to enjoy it as part of the package.
They never marketed this series as Romance drama between the two leads, it's equally about politics, wuxia and adventure. As long as all these elements are done well, what's the problem?
Those complaining about court politics scenes are as silly as those complaining about how there's very little romance in Nirvana in Fire.
You have the option of waiting till the series finish airing then binge it and skip every scene that doesn't appeal to you.
Jesus, there's court drama in the series, on the set there's drama between producer and the director and now there's a drama in the comment session....
Chill, cdramas tend to organize the story in arcs, the first arc is ML's raise to power and the two leads getting to know each other. Second arc I'm sure will focus on FL becoming sect leader and embracing her real identity. We've already see scenes of her fighting on the battle field in the pre-release trailer. People are so impatient. This is already the drama of the year material, they haven't compromised on the budget as well as the two leads and the whole supporting cast delivering their best, don't be disrespectful.
A good drama has to focus on not just the two leads. Support characters have to get screen time too in order for there to be a good world building. Ever read the Lord of the Rings? The story isn't even 20% about fking Frodo and his ring, there are many other characters that make up the world of Middle Earth and that's what makes the world so rich and believable.
Again, I repeat, this isn't about your favorite actor or your favorite idol, if you want them hoarding 90% of screen time go watch an idol drama or download douyin and follow thier livestreams or something.

Yeah that's because in the 1900s in order to feed a growing population, they cross bred a lot of fast-growing chicken breeds to arrive at what is now the primary factory farmed chicken breed in the west today. It grows 3 times as large and as fast as natural free roam chicken in Asia but the meat is tasteless. The organic pasture chicken tastes better but still not as good as chicken in Asia.

Yeah store bought mass farmed factory chicken is a specifically selected breed for size and growth speed, fed exclusively with corn or mono-diet sacrificing taste. It has a lot of meat but you might as well chew rubber.
Buy free-roam or half wild chicken from small farms or take a vacation in Asia, you'll notice the difference in taste immediately.

Thank you. What about Prince Chang, isn't he a legitimate son of the current Queen? Why so then that daughter of Minister of rites called him son of a servant?
