Fight scenes are such a treat, the inheritance scene with the water and the two of them practicing in unison with the illusions is simply sublime. Tencent went very generous with the budget it shows.

Now I'm hoping Sword Snow Stride and Joy of Life season two will get similar budget and get to borrow the choreographer behind all this.

Can someone explain the relationship between ML's mother Queen Yige(is she from Royal family of ruling Emperor in the capital?), his father the current King and current Queen?

Why does the current Queen hate ML's mother? Also why was Prince Chang called son of a servant? I thought current Queen is Prince Chang's real mother?

That's a free roam chicken, you can tell by how small and on-the-bone the chicken is. Mass farmed chicken fed on corn exclusively and bred to grow fast and large is tasteless.

Free roam half-wild chicken tastes nothing like the chicken that taste like rubber you find in super markets, you don't even need seasoning as it has a natural flavour.

Sorry for taking this opportunity to rant but as a chicken purist, I can't help it.

I like minimal romance in my dramas. I care about a good plotline and characterization but as long as romance is carried by charismatic cast, I don't mind.

Balance is good.

Feel free to watch other countless idol dramas out there if all you care about is eye candy and main leads hoarding 90% of the screen time. Supporting cast is essential for world building.

I for one prefer balanced and intelligently written plot.

Prince Huang Chao what a man. He could easily be the ML in any other dramas.

Note the springs and mechanisms under the horse? That's how you flip the robot horse and film the tripping scenes, just need a little CGI touch up.

Keep in mind, it's far cheaper to use robots like this and CGI than to trip and injure a real horse and possibly the stunt person.

I'm a guy, I came here for intelligent characters and amazing Wuxia fight choreography. So far this is my top drama of 2022 alongside Sword Snow Stride. Although I'm not a fan of Romance, Yang Yang and Lusi can carry it.

It's not Yang Yang, I'm a guy and I don't chase after Male actors but even I can see from his past works he's a proven actor. Still actors are constrained by the role and the characters they're given and have to work within this restriction. Yang Yang can play more expressive characters if that role is given to him.

It has to have a balance. Shows that focus excessively on two leads get very boring. Well written shows have very well developed side characters and supporting cast. The entire series should not revolve around just two people. There are plenty of Idol dramas if you want just two leads hoarding most screen time.

Modern Cdramas have more productions that aren't about romance. Especially in mystery, crime, thriller etc. genre.

For example, the recent series "Reset" is great.

For Ancient costume drama without much focus on Romance, there's Joy of Life, Sword Snow Stride, Advisor Alliance.

There's also upcoming Wing Blows from Longxi with Chen Kun as lead.

I hate Romance in my dramas as much as you do but unfortunately 90% of Cdramas or even Asian dramas will be Romance.

That's because majority of TV viewership is female and merchandising, sponsorship etc. makes money from primarily female audience.

So I have little to no expectations for dramas to be completely free of romance, as long as romance is not too over melo-dramatic and start to bog down the main storyline, I can overlook it.

Aight, I thought I would hold out till it finishes airing to binge but I couldn't help myself. Now for the next 5 weeks of torturous drip feeding.

I knew straight away what he was doing but he's such a convincing actor that some would misunderstand his actions.

Miss Huan tho, she's a good girl but I have a feeling they're setting her up to fall into jealousy trap.

Ep6 fight scenes are the best I've seen in a decade. Mfking Iqiyi, this is what Sword Snow Stride should have been in terms of choreography but you went the heavy CGI route.

Anyone else thinks ML's brother, oldest prince is just so awesome? He's so protective of ML in his own no non-sense way. The actor really stands out to me since he played Scholar Lin in SSS.

Something very familiar was poking at the back of my head but I couldn't pinpoint but you summed up my thoughts perfectly.

This series does feel like the strong points of the Untamed, WoH and SSS put together. It seems Tencent's production house is learning from their previous works or learning from each other.
