JoL has better pacing but SSS has a better supporting cast imo. Maybe I'm biased because I'm head over heels for the female cast in SSS especially White Fox and Jade Bird. Nangong Pushe is simply ethereal whenever she appears and Qing Niao is just breath takingly beautiful.

Chinese entertainment scene is plagued with factional politics and conflicts based on idol and celebrity worship. Basically, supporting a celebrity means the fan clubs organize mass voting for their favorite's work and voting against your favorite's competition.
This breeds a trend where companies chase inflated view counts and recognition not based on quality but through the sheer power of name recognition and social media follower counts of the lead cast. Hence, you see all those countless works with idol actors and actresses with no acting skills being cast in high profile productions. And god forbid if an actual actor/actress is chosen in place of a popular idol, the fan clubs will brigade and mass down vote.
Basically, fan votes on public forums like MDL and Douban shouldn't be taken as the sole indicator of a series' quality.

Song Zu'er? You serious? She's not a good actress at all, at least not yet. If Jiang Ni actress Teresa Li was to be replaced there are other great actresses in China's Gen Z like Xiao Yan, Su Xiao Tong or slightly older ones like Zhou Yu Tong etc. who can actually act.
For those who bought WeTV vip - am I missing something here? The app/site appear to have severe lack of content? I looked at the movie section and there are grand total of.....four movies available to stream. In contrast, the iQiyi site/app has nearly a thousand movies and hundreds of series to stream.
Granted, I only really care about Sword Snow Stride and $5 for one month is already worth for this series alone but I can't help but wonder about the big contrast between the two regarding the amount of content as a long time subscriber of iQiyi.

It's worth it if you plan on watching other series that they offer. As for me, I'm not really into romance genre so most other Cdramas don't interest me, so I bought one month only subscription for Sword Snow Stride.
If you like you can also check out iQiyi app as well. They're competitors to WeTV but similar app with different offerings. Think of Netflix vs Amazon Prime videos.
