If you're watching just for romance or action, I suggest you pick up another drama. This is a combination of adventure and political intrigue. Romance and actions have never been the focus in the works of this production team and script writer. And some people like me prefer it this way.
In most classic wuxia, the hero starts with no martial arts.
Well I guess because Zhang Tian Ai is big name actress and her character Nangong Pu She is a love letter to hugely iconic Wuxia characters played by Brigitte Lin. I'm also guessing she'll become more relevant with more screen time in latter episodes. Vengo and Hu Jun are also listed as main characters despite only XFN and Jiang Ni hoarding most screen time.
This drama is the end of my productivity. I keep thinking about it when I finish the daily episodes and spend the next 24 hours either rewatching or just sitting and waiting for the next one. Only NiF, NiF2, JoL and this drama have managed to make me obsessed.
I can't read the novel because I can't read Chinese. I fear for myself knowing this season is inevitably going to end in Cliff Hanger.
🔥🔥🔥 A must-watch show right now !!! 🔥🔥🔥- Story Pacing may feel a bit slow, but be patient, it's…
I agree with all that, it's a must watch show right now.
And for the romance, I'd prefer either no romance or just a very very small side plot of romance without it being distracting and detracting from the main plot.
Not every series has to involve romance and I'm actually sick and tired of countless romance-focused dramas out there. Like literally over 90% of CEnt productions are romance.

And if I'm being honest, I'd prefer it if ML to remain without martial arts and instead use his brain. As a guy, for once I want to see the female characters taking the lead in fights. Nangong Pu She needs more screen time.
a fan o joy of life and im loving this specially the chemistry of Jiang Ni and Xu Feng Nian. which i didn't know…
I love the fact that every female character in the series so far has interesting and attractive personalities. I love that they're not just reduced to romance interest for the ML and just looking pretty. It's not often that you get well written cast of female characters aside from the main female lead.
Teresa Li come on her own in ep14. Until then she used to snap. She is creating a unique character. Her interaction…
I disliked her character until Episode 10 where she stood her ground against the princess and refuses to get comforted by XFN. Now she has grown on me after I realized she does have a mature and independent side.
The production seem way less "cheap" than the regular historical dramas. This looks more like a movie than a cheap…
It's not a small budget drama, this is Tencent/WeTV's big production of the year. They made the costumes and sets less flashy to appear more realistic. The buildings and sets are also more grounded in reality.
Nobody in Ancient China dresses like characters in Pearl Eclipse, Ten miles of peach blossoms etc. This is Wuxia/Xuanhuan drama, not Xianxia.
This is how you make wuxia drama. But you need actors. All lead actors putting on a show.
This, I find myself rewatching each episode at least 3 times looking closely at each actor's facial expressions even when they're in the background. There so much attention given that each scene feels so...alive. I can count on one hand the number of dramas that make me feel this way.
What must a man do to be like Xu Feng Nian, surrounded by a harem of beautiful, kick ass and stunning ladies ? NGL I admire and envy him at the same time. Nangong Pu She and Qing Niao are my favorites but Jiang Ni and Shu Xiu are growing on me too.
I don't know why ,, this drama's productions seems old like from years ago ,, I don't know if it's intentionally…
The sound especially voices may sound strange to those used to most cdramas because usually the voices are dubbed over. In this series, the voices are recorded live on the scene, those are actors themselves speaking, not studio voice actors.
it says here in the "details" Aired On: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sundayso practically…
I found a schedule on twitter, basically 6 ep first day, then 2 ep a day for the first week, then 1 ep per day on weekly basis. So 2 ep until Monday, then 1 ep per day from Tuesday until season ends.
You should keep going, her character start to develop really really well around episode 9/10. I was annoyed by…
I mean it, watch it till Ep 10 and then decide, she grew on me on that episode. She's not AT ALL like your typical weak, childish female lead in many other dramas. That is just the appearance she gives out, she's very complex and mature on the inside.
So how many of us realize this drama is based off of a xuanhuan (and not wuxia) novel, so aren't expecting true…
It's fine for me, the CGI is very minimal and the plot and characters are main focus so it doesn't bother me. Plus the fight scenes especially with Zhang Tian Ai's white robed warrior is such a treat as it reminds me of Brigitte Lin's characters in classic Wuxia works.
After watching 4 episodes I decided to drop this one. An unappealing love interest can make a potentially good/great…
You should keep going, her character start to develop really really well around episode 9/10. I was annoyed by her at first but now I like her. She has a mature side you'll see it in later episodes.
Hearing this just lowed my expectations, anyway where do you watch the drama?
??? You should not go by random comments. I've seen Nirvana in Fire, Joy of Life etc. and I'm VERY picky about what series I watch and stayed. I've dropped 10 times the amount of series than I finished but after watching 10 episodes of this series, I'm already calling it a master piece.

Watch it.
