I mute or fast forward when she comes on the screen. Everything else in the drama is perfect.

Finished ep 12. She still has the mumbling monotone and constant frown. I've seen her in other dramas and only now realized she just flat out can't act. She's a stick of wood.

I realize a part of this is how her character is written, but perhaps it's also her acting. My gosh she overdoes the mealy mouth. She doesn't act like a normal person. The drama is so good but she's like a black hole in the middle of it. :(

Ok, FYI. It is not boring. Just in the first few minutes of the drama, there's a "sky hook". :-)
I decided that was a good sign. lol. And the actors and actresses are good.

yeh! Cooking in the bathroom. That grossed me out. Do people really do that?
It's silly but I dropped the drama at that point. I'm thinking of resuming it and skipping parts of show where she cooks LOL.
Saw Sandra Ma in Oh My General and now a big fan.

finished ep 8 and my gosh she's still mumbly and weak, to the extreme. Very unappealing. Her parts are so bad I'm fast forwarding when she comes on the screen. :(
The other actors and actresses have better parts so far.

Did you keep watching? Don't want any spoilers though. I thought the female lead's part had her do stupid things that average person would know better than to do.

As of end of ep 5, she continues to be mealy mouthed, mumbly and not that sharp.
It must be the writing. I really liked Victoria Song in Ice Fantasy. There she was a strong kick butt hero type.

I dropped The General and I at the middle point. It really seemed like it should end there.
Plus, i was exhausted by all the machinations, it really felt like we deserved resolution after all the extreme intensity to that point.

with a total of 13 episodes. So it will finish sometime in August.

"It was nothing great.." true. That sums it up. Without this top notch cast, no one would be watching it.

This drama has a great cast but there's something missing in it. I can't put my finger on it. I just couldn't get absorbed into the drama. Without William Chen and Li Xian starring in it, it probably would only get a 7 rating at best.
Yes, I can see watching it just for the eye candy. But I dropped it after Ep 10. Just couldn't push myself forward. It had such potential, just something was missing. Does anyone else sense that too?

lol I think you posted a spoiler in your review.

I felt that the key flaw to this drama was the female lead character. I just find it hard to believe a mother would be so neglectful and till be called a caring parent by other. I think her character screwed up majorly. The rest of the drama was intense, maybe too creepy, but I did love the lead guy's part.
I feel that whoever wrote the female leads part - couldn't be a mother or parent.
