that leach is jealous and itching coz he had nothing to do with this drama. He's now desperately trying to ride…
That‘s pretty ‚small‘ thinking. If a project succeeds artistically - as this did - it will build your artist‘s brand and the agency‘s with it, if it is supportive. It is Like a lawyer taking on a high profile case pro-bono. They do it for prestige and ‚fame‘ not for money (though that usually also pays in the long run).
I‘ll have to wait for the last 5 episodes but - as avid spoiler reader - already know the ending. Sad but look forward to the acting, which has been top notch so far. Also, on a general level, in such a case the death penalty is seriously over the top. Chen Hui would have all the potential to reform himself, if given the opportunity. (Sadly in effect it will also be the death penalty for her, as she won‘t have a chance for treatment and a transplant now).
I wonder whether there will be a resolution to the death of the father‘s former fiance, and how that will tie into the story. Whatever the case, I believe that past made Dad detached from his family and son. And the resulting strained relationship and lack of trust contributed to Chen Hui‘s downfall.
"Honestly, I don’t even know what he’s supposed to do anymore. Every time Chen Hui tries to make a fresh…
At this point, I think he should give up and turn himself in - and Tian Janhai. If Tian Janhai is too obtuse to give up after being told that Chen Hui is already a suspect (which Chen Hui should tell him!), what is there left to do? Murder the guy? I hope Chen Hui won‘t go down that path.
ep13 & ep14: Ok, my frustration with Dad is ever growing, even though at this point I‘m starting to get frustrated with Chen Hui, too. Why even entertain the idea of getting back drawn in? Just tell that Business Partner, that Dad is already suspecting you. As for Dad, he is truly Captain Ahab, ready so sacrifice everything to bring down his son. Even his own integrity. After all he explicitly suspected his son but did not recuse himself instead of orchestrating the raid. I‘m honestly starting to hate Dad and his self-rightous smugness. His colleagues care more for his family than he does.
I don't know what to say about episode 12. Every moment was so exciting, and now Chen Hui is a strong suspect…
I‘m done with this father. Even if the law trumps his family for him, why not give the son a chance to turn himself in, before marking him out as a suspects to all his superiors - and without solid evidence to back his suspicion, mind you. What a sad, tone deaf excuse of a father and husband. Looks like he never moved on from his old flame to love anyone else. Pathetic. (But great acting).
Great story telling, stellar acting. The setting in this 90‘s small town and especially the roller skate rink somehow make me nostalgic and remind me of my youth - and I didn’t even grow up in Asia. (In hindsight, I guess the era must have felt more similar across the globe than we imagined at the time…). Chen Hui breaks my heart, though. His struggle is really hard to watch, particularly because he is so relatable (great acting). I really need to know how it ends. Bad for him obviously…. aaaaahhh!!!
