Ok, I know you guys are all hating on the Xie father. As do I. But: when Shen Run says “let’s marry here and now” and the Marquis motions to Xie Dad “we can’t allow that” and Xie makes this gesture/face like “ah, just drop it” that was hilarious. So evil Xie dad has a funny side, too. 😁

Maybe someone ordered or blackmailed him to do it?

If it is any consolation, in the novel QR becomes CX’s concubine… 😉

After the wedding the moon shines, they have their wedding meal, Granny says she’ll prepare the bed… then ML goes to meet his brother and next thing it is day again and they clean up the Shen residence (still in wedding attire, but ok, they don’t have other clothes with Granny.) Was the wedding night skipped?

I particularly love how, after the elders had tried to bully FL into concubinate - watching her get beaten by a servant, even - the emperor’s decree that is read elaborates on how pained the emperor is that FL gets bullied so much… 😂

Had they? I thought they didn’t see it through because he couldn’t promise “instant” revenge? (Not sure though). Whatever happened, the scene reminded me of the ending of “the Graduate”. There they also fight family and all to be together, he snatches her from her wedding and at the end they sit in the bus and side eye and look at each other with that clueless look as if to say “now what?” as reality sinks in.
