That is my guess, too, based on what went down so far. What I don’t get is what the old Yus’ long game was. I mean, their son can be scheming (see FL’s downfall), but I think he is too scholarly to get involved in such shady business dealings. Did initially lady Yu want FL to take over the business as DIL, do they now want to wrap it up? (Grandson is certainly too young, they can’t hold out 20 more years ?!).

The website that shall not be named has a countdown of 6 (six!) days for episode 30. I despair.

I’m convinced ZL killed the man, and I don’t believe using him instead could have worked. ZL has no compunction killing e.g. the 15 salt smugglers, and they had *not* killed a family member of ZL. (Not to speak of the several instances where that man tried to kill or ruin FL.) FL had already disavowed the man as her father, too. So I don’t quite get why y’all get so worked up over that one killing, considering the rest of the story that is already littered with corpses.

I think she suspected something, too. The timing was just too perfect.

In the preview after Ep 29 it looks like SML is taken aback by some action of his dad. I sure wonder how the dynamic between Yu elders and their son will play out, as their actions to hold it all together grow ever more ruthless and desperate - and will more directly target SML’s allegedly great love, too. I believe SML will do the cowardly thing and play along. Yake might be a wild card.

I mean, I still wouldn’t mind getting a “fluffy break”, but yeah, it all now culminates, and the stakes get ever higher. It is really well told. It just took me some time to brace myself for the finale that is now unfolding.

I believe that the turmoil among the young Yu generation will be the family’s downfall, or at least contribute to it in a significant way. Ms Wu has her own interests and can easily play SML, with her FTY-shtick. SML often does not see eye to eye with his parents. And now even Yake has apparently decided to do as she pleases…

I thought the red robe signified he got actually that post Mr Yu promised. But maybe not, he wore it before, too, I believe.

I guess I’m embracing the doom now.

Ok. I’ll say it. Unexpectedly, I genuinely enjoyed EP29.

He looks waaaay better with that beard. Hope he keeps it.
