Regarding the marriage prospects of the 4th prince…
I’ve repeatedly read 4th prince will end up with younger sister, but after ep25 it would seem he’ll marry lady Xie, and the sister possibly ends up with the guard? Do I miss any info?
…it looks like even as she marries him, FL still holds that she doesn’t love ML and might not in this lifetime.…
I don’t minn fantastic storylines or I wouldn’t watch c-dramas, for all I care they can throw a unicorn in, but whitewashed (in my view) toxic relationships irk me - and I know there are way, way more severe such relationships in c-drama land than this rather mild case, and those dramas I then do actually drop. I have just seen some really toxic relationships that friends of mine still clinged to, so I’m really sensitive when I feel this kind of stuff is normalized or even idolized, which happens way too often, across cultures.

Well, I’m still interested in the overall plot and her endgame regarding the crown prince question, even though the couple’s dynamics suck. I don’t mind a FL who has attachment issues, however, just like in real life, the OBVIOUS, healthy reaction to such a person is to steer clear romantically. And if the plot chooses to have someone unhealthily clinging to such an avoidant personality disorder person, it could do so without selling like some sweet love story, cause it isn’t. It is unhealthy, and yet not depicted as such, which makes it an unhealthy- albeit luckily minor - story line.
…it looks like even as she marries him, FL still holds that she doesn’t love ML and might not in this lifetime. And he is like, ah ok, as long as you are mine … Their “dynamic” is starting to get on my nerves. 🙄
lol great analysis. it’s becoming the same formula and tbh, that gets boring. people keep turning bad around…
Noooooo!I was so glad when Jundai was gone. She had become repetitive. I very much prefer FL is now fighting powerful evil, compared to an ultimately inconsequential, powerless evil, bullying girl.
Didn't she say he had countless cocubine and children already??
Yeah, but Wei Rao rightly argued that this alone would not be enough reason for Miss Xie, given her education and socialization, as this was considered normal in royal households. I basically follow Wei Rao’s reasoning, it makes sense to me.
I don’t mind cliffhangers. But I think for a proper build up to some emotional scene it is better not to cut it off, cause the build up and angst will be wasted, and the next episode will have a hard time recreating it.
As for that one prince that Xie doesn’t want to marry. Wei Rao mused something must seriously be wrong with him that Xie refuses the marriage. But from what I saw, his “flaw” (in Xie’s eyes) is that he won’t send a servant away that was very loyal since he was a kid? Did I miss something? For if not, that would make him the worthiest CP of the four in my book.
I regularly make fun of those typical testosterone movies, like Rambo, where a guy gets beaten down and humiliated again and again, only to ultimately strike back and go on a revenge rampage.
This drama is the “female perspective” version of that. And I’m here for it. Heck FL even channels the “I am a lonesome cowboy and won’t even share my plans with my love interest - and if I get killed in the mission don’t cry for me” stick of the male leads in those movies. 😂😂😂
When I was watching Rao weeping in front of Wei Shu, I was irritated that Rao had become soft and tragic, but…
It sure makes more sense interpreting her tears as an act. I was really disappointed when she started going on about “wha, I’m losing face if that guy talks about my past…”. As a way of gaslighting it is in character.
