Ok. I’ve finished the drama. I really enjoyed it. Regarding ep 47…
I have to say, her “one lifetime is enough” rubbed me the wrong way. Particularly as it didn’t quite match her expression. Or maybe it did and it was all just compassion for the old fool, not love, that I saw. How do some of you find that line so great? I don’t get it.
She did, and it's very clear towards the end, at least to me.How she long for him, wait for him, worry for him,…
Actually, for me it was clear when she saved him in that snowstorm (and burnt “the evidence” against him. But actually, from the moment she turned back to find him). Not following the same path doesn’t mean there’s no love. But as that wasn’t enough for so many, I wondered if it was more “in the face” at the end.
So, I pose that hotly discussed question to the lucky ones who have watched all episodes including ep. 47: Does it ever become clear in the last 5 episodes whether FL is actually in love with ML?
well the marquis pretty much let her down by giving in to his mother's demands....that's why she agrees to the…
That’s how I understood their conversation at the end, when the two watched the family quarrel from afar. She basically says that sure she was hurt, but as he would take the concubine anyway, whether it hurt her or not, proving he doesn’t love her that much, she’s done with their love and is focusing on her kids’ future. I hope he regrets it, giving their love up for nothing.
I realized 40 episodes in that as an audience member, I’m not even fully convinced the FL loves the ML. It feels…
I actually think she loved him when she risked her life and saved him during the rebellion. That did, however, not mean that she wanted to become a true couple and risk kids with him, because they were not on the same path. (She still felt she needed to remain on guard. No wonder with her trauma.)
I really want to see ML when it dawns on him that FL is his former fiance and a surviving Shen. We’ve seen a glimpse in the preview. But will he treat her any differently, will he be hesitant somehow… That will be fascinating to watch (I hope).
I finished ep 39. Maybe I'm wrong but I interpreted the scene of them finally having their night together as a…
No. In the theater she again explained to him they are on different paths. Her recurring standard response when he asked for a true married life and she rejected. He worked for the Emperor she had zero trust in. By returning years later, having given up his post, he is now free to walk the same path as her. What follows is them having their own quiet “ceremony” followed by consummation of marriage. Otherwise the story telling makes no sense.
Don't think that will happen anytime soon (or ever). Fans of each individual (XK and BL) hate each other to the…
Interesting. And I can well believe it. What one sees on the surface alone is disturbing enough. It also makes the standing of actors and actresses quite precarious - having impossibly high standards to fulfill, where even the rumor of some “misstep” can end their career. While the industry bosses and those who pull the strings aren’t subject to any standards or scrutiny. This will inevitably create a power imbalance, that must be difficult to navigate for actors and actresses.

Honestly, that whole environment is not healthy. Why would anyone care about any actor’s or actresses relationship status one way or the other? That all sounds like some mass psychological hysteria. Not healthy.
It's hard for me to go from that cold bickering chemistry between ML and FL (we have seen so long) to the sweet…
Oh that bickering-stop felt natural to me. I have often seen people bicker (e.g. because one is fascinated with the other but doesn’t want to admit it even to themselves) and then get all lovey dovey once they are together.
