Nishijima Hidetoshi has the same weird, unnatural way of speaking English like Yoshida Yoh in A Pale View of Hills 😔... pls don't come for me but they need a different coach or something :( i love them usually!!!
I wish I could have connected with this more than I did. The kabuki scenes were beautiful and compelling but the overall editing/directing confused me a bit at times and I'm not sure the story was fleshed out enough for a runtime of three hours...
I'm not sure how to feel about the couple. She's for sure stronger than me (not sure if that's a good thing) because he got on my nerves a little too much. He was a real meanie towards her 90% of the time, idk how she held on. It also feels like a mother son relationship to me...so... The parents' ending is sweet of course but feels a bit unrealistic, considering that man's deep rooted mysogony etc but maybe he actually just needed a wake-up call. 7/10 for me
watched this at the world premiere, so I cannot add it to my list yet (damn, MDL) but it was a lot of fun. A little confusing at times, I think a lot got lost through translation sadly. Jiro Sato & Yuki were so funny and nice at the Q&A and Meet n Greet!!!
I'm on ep 1 and I know I shouldn't take this serious at all but AGGGHH. Why would a michelin chef pour this much premade sauce on stuff? But that aside... when they said they're done with the food but there's still so much rice in the bowl - I cannot imagine a girl living hundreds (?) of years ago and wasting food like that. EEK. Even nowadays, my grandparents would scold me haha. BTW this is no hate to the drama overall, I'm just being nitpicky like that.
Episode 8 was the weakest so far. Not because it wasn't well done or anything but I feel like the "deep dive" into the side character wasn't exactly necessary. It'd be fine if we had spent more time with the sides before but so far we didn't really get to know anything about them, so there is no reason for any of us to care about her etc. Nevertheless, I love this tranquil vibe they have going on and at least ep 8 showed us once again how beloved Tojo is by his team. I also think it was nice to spend an ep with Keishi instead.
I adoooore this drama. The romance is so cute but mature at the same time. I am in love with both characters, they're both absolutely charming. They both have this gentle feeling about them as well. AANNND the chemistry is there too. AHHH.
PS: I also love that this drama has a distinct idea of what it wants to be style wise. AMAZING.
