She went and threatened the consort. If the consort didn’t decided to help her and called for help, him, HanYan…
Tbh, you kinda figured it out already, and I’m impressed. You said it—you didn’t see where or when. Good observation. They already had a mutual understanding and agreement; they were gonna help each other take down their common enemy. She said a lot of hateful stuff to piss him off, to make him hate her. I’m not sure how far in you are, and I don’t wanna spoil too much. Hope you’re enjoying it. :3
I’m on episode 6, why is her mother treat her like shit?
Hey there, if you really want to know, she does have her reasons. It’s one of those "I’m hurting you in the name of love." But she’s also so consumed by hatred and vengeance that she couldn’t see that her way of protecting her daughter actually ended up hurting Hanyan more.
This scene gets me every time. Sure, it took him 27 episodes to show some drastic emotions, and mind you, he gave us two—one where he's laughing, and one where he's crying. This was one heck of a romantic confession scene. A hot date at a prison? Why not confess at a water prison, ya?
But what makes this scene so powerful is that, In his whole 20-something years of existence, he’s probably never felt pain and emotions like this. Perhaps it was even more painful than the torture he endured. Showing multiple emotions usually indicates inner conflict/torn heart. When she said, "You deceived me into falling in love with a man who is going to die," I love his expression here—he paused, looked at her with heavy eyes, a hint of a smile, and then apologized. (He took his daughter’s advice xD.)
As she left, he’s never looked so crushed. Head tilted, he watched her until she was completely out of his sight. Then, he sinks into the water, as if defeated. But technically, he won, right? He got what he wanted... so why, after all of that, is he laughing, crying, and smiling at the same time? He smiled because she indirectly admitted that she’s in love with him. The laughter and tears indicate his inner turmoil. Despite getting what he wanted, it broke him because he too fell for her. He hurt her, but it hurts him more. IMO, I feel like this was a breakthrough performance for actor Xin Yun Lai. (Did anyone notice his spit or snot dripping down his chin?)
Oh, I also have to point out how much I love the moment when she turns around and walks away from him in the water. My favorite part of their theme song plays here, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. The lyrics fit this particular scene more than ever: "In the end, I fell into the trap I set for you."
I think the list above are some of the more popular clips. I know I missed a lot, and there are many more on TikTok and YouTube. Sowee. Have fun and enjoy. :3
I’ve missed them so much that I’ve been watching their behind-the-scenes footage, promos, and events, and also rewatching some of my favorite scenes from The Glory. Hehe.
as sad as episode 18 was—I'm mad.wouldn't they think (especially the mom) that the dad had let them go too easily?…
To defeat a mastermind, you have to think like a mastermind—but they didn’t. They underestimated just how evil he could be because they weren't capable of that level of malice themselves. They knew he was cruel and manipulative, but they saw him as a coward. They never imagined he would go so far as to poison them. In the end, they lost because they couldn’t fathom the depths of his wickedness. They all had to learn the hard way.
can someone please 🙏 explain what happened in ep 13? I'm very confused as to why Hanyan so furious and disheartened…
Are you asking about the moment when she tried to stab him? Well, he was trying to stop her from saving her mom. It's natural for her to be pissed; she loves her mother more than anything. He drugged her and mocked her—I’d be pissed too, lol. However, in her weakened state, it was a natural reaction for her to lash out in defense and desperation. She knew she didn’t have a chance, especially since she was about to pass out and she was aware that he was a martial artist much stronger than her. She was more venting, if anything, and trying to get under his skin, which kind of worked since he was butt hurt when she aimed the hairpin at him. Hee
lol It’s funny. The two were filling for Veil of Shadows. He as a guest role. They’re smart and can act—Not…
No freaking way. LOL. Okay, he doesn’t look as bad as I thought—his profile picture didn’t do him justice. I wonder if he was thinking, "Damn, did I miss my chance? Damn, Dudu is pretty. Damn, I could’ve kissed her!?"
Ooh, apparently, one of the original would-be Jeffs—his name’s Chang Huasen, scored almost as high as Dudu on the college entrance exam. He got a 610/750 vs. Dudu's score of 621. Imagine if he had accepted the role—it would’ve truly been a battle of wits between two master tacticians, both on and off screen. I don’t really know who he is, so I can’t imagine their on-screen chemistry, but I can just picture the kind of conversations they’d have in real life. Electronic engineer vs. aerospace engineer—"I’ll teach you how to make a microwave, and you teach me how to build a spacecraft." Haha.
He was indeed sentenced to death. Fu Yunxi had pleaded that his family not be implicated. He also requested permission from the emperor to force Zhuang Shiyang to hand over the antidote before his execution. The emperor granted him special authority to interrogate and torture Zhuang. However, Zhuang remained defiant, believing that as long as he claimed innocence, he would live. That’s when Fu Hanyan stepped in. Together as husband and wife, they outwitted Zhuang. In the end, he was killed by his wife, stabbed multiple times—dying in the same brutal way Ruan Xiwen, Hanyan’s mother, had.
Not trying to offend anyone's favorite actors, but I kinda sorta hope the five who turned down this role and didn’t believe in Dudu or the production feel a little regret. Just a lil bit. xD
According to Dudu, she was supposed to say that she wasn't the real Zhuang Hanyan. The intention behind this was…
The novel does have a rebirth theme, but not the TV series.
The meaning behind that scene was to show that, at this point, Yunxi completely loves and trusts her—he doesn’t even need to know what she’s hiding. This contrasts with the past, when he didn’t trust her or had doubts about her.
