male lead is fine in modern clothes but in costumes he was kinda mid? i hope this is not offensive thing to say.
It's okay. You're just being honest about your opinion. At least you're not as harsh as some other viewers. My heart broke when I read that he was flooded with messages calling him the ugliest actor in costume dramas. I would be hurt if so many people said that about me. He handled the harsh comments well by posting an apology on his social media, along with a silly picture of himself to lighten the mood. Dudu also began posting unflattering pictures of herself from the drama—the one where she was in rags, barefoot, her skin red and covered in dirt, her lips cracked and dry, and her hair unkempt. At one promotional event, she even defended him, saying, "Lil Xin (the male lead) and I have looks that aren't for everyone, but we're an acquired taste."
Gotta love Dudu. Personally, I do find him handsome in costume dramas.
pretty sure the ml died from that ending scene. ml stood with all the characters that already passed away and…
In my opinion, it's a happy and beautiful ending that invites the viewer to interpret and explore its symbolic meaning. Death is inevitable, and while he will eventually die, he lives happily ever after with the love of his life and his family. :3
In the ending scene, what was the thing hanyan lied about that she wanted to confess to yunxi?
According to Dudu, she was supposed to say that she wasn't the real Zhuang Hanyan. The intention behind this was possibly to pay homage to the original storyline from the novel.
Hey there. :3Like you said, some people will praise it, and others will have different opinions. You'll get reviews…
Hey, I’m not sure I fully understand your point. Could you clarify? I don’t recall calling anyone out for sharing their thoughts on the show, and I haven’t been name-calling either. I’m just trying to make sure I understand where you're coming from. Thanks.
I understand that some people may have been upset with how Hanyan was with Yunxi in episode 24—or maybe even…
I don’t think Hanyan ever intended to hurt Yunxi. From the very start, he was already on her back, and it's natural for her to be wary of him. It wasn't easy for her to trek all the way in search of a home, and after 17 years of nightmares, she wasn't about to let him stand in her way.
When Yunxi's manor was burned down, it wasn't her idea. When she found out, she rushed over, hoping to save them. The second incident, it was to protect her best friend. This was when she witnessed how skilled Yunxi was in martial arts, and her friend was struggling to keep up. She had to step in before they ended up hurting each other. She could see that he was probably more skilled than Chai Jing at this point.
The third time, she was drugged. She was so close to saving her mom, yet her efforts were halted. Yunxi stood in her way once again—or so she thought. She begged him to spare her, but he responded with, "Why don’t you spare me instead?" Of course, she would be furious at this point. He drugged her, prevented her from saving her family from execution, and even mocked her with that response. In a fit of desperation, self-defense, and anger, she attacked him—but did she truly believe she had a chance? She was weakened, and he was a skilled fighter—she was not. There was no way she could overpower him. At most, she was just trying to threaten or scare him off, put up some sort of fight, or at least piss him off before going down.
The fourth time, she finally succeeded in stabbing him. But if you notice, she was surprised herself. She thought he’d dodge it like he had all those other times. I think Yunxi let her wound him on purpose, pulling on her empathy because, by now, he could tell she wasn’t the heartless person she appeared to be. From her determination to save the family that abandoned her, to her willingness to turn herself in and give up her newfound life to save Chai Jing, to her fierce, unrelenting drive to bring down her father without implicating his family—Yunxi was willing to bet that she wasn’t really trying to kill him and that she just wanted to scare him off. He didn’t need to burn the divorce letter; he could’ve kept it as a precaution. But he burned it in front of her, which I feel like signifies that he sees her for who she truly is. At the same time, burning the letter was playing on her conscience—"Now that you have no leverage to protect us, you can’t make that sacrifice anymore." As he said, "You’re married to me. You’re my wife, my family." Burning that letter also signifies there’s no going back—she is now tied to him. (But she can always forge another one, hehe).
Yes, she acted rashly, but she had just lost another life. She had witnessed too many deaths by now. She lost what was probably the last connection to her mother—someone who had once loved her mother dearly, someone she saw traces of Chai Jing. Frustration, anger, guilt, a sense of failure, sadness, and probably more consumed her, leading her to speak harshly and act impulsively.
I understand that some people may have been upset with how Hanyan was with Yunxi in episode 24—or maybe even throughout the series. I know most will disagree with me, and that's perfectly fine—I respect that. It's okay to agree to disagree. But here's my take:
That's why I love her so much. She speaks with such intelligence, and in addition, she always stands up for and defends her coworkers. There's a reason why people act a certain way around her; she has a genuine aura about her. https://www.tiktok.com/@aug_muzi96/video/7487854939956464914
The way he protects her is so obsessing!!!I wish there were more romantic moments between them. This kind of couple…
Thank you!
When he knocked the cup out of Yushan’s hand, did a heroic spin, stood in front of Hanyan to shield her, gave Yushan a harsh look, then turned around to look at Hanyan, softened his gaze, gently asked, "Are you okay?" smiled at her, grabbed her hand, and led her away. BRUH.
I really need a good review of this drama because some are praising it a lot and some are degrading it so bad??…
Hey there. :3
Like you said, some people will praise it, and others will have different opinions. You'll get reviews from both sides. I understand you don’t want to waste time, but in life, we all have to take risks—whether it’s for a job, a relationship, a book, or a TV show. Sometimes, you have to make that investment to see if it’s worth it.
If you think of it this way, it’s not a waste of time if you can figure out whether it’s quality material or not. Through experience, we discover what we like, and that’s how we gain knowledge—by going through both the good and the bad. In the end, you’ll know what’s best for you.
Give it a try. If you don’t like it, at least you’ll know.
It’s really Jeff and Dudu’s song. Does anyone know the name of the song? https://x.com/maumdev85/status/1906483528746909897?s=46&t=uz5jDRWlGzE90XHFkDAn2Q
To those who have condemned the female lead as evil—branding her a villain for endangering the male lead and…
I'm clapping my fingers off for you, but you can’t hear it. I agree with you—this is pretty much my thoughts exactly. I also now understand better why she is cold to Ah Zhi. In addition to being overwhelmed by trauma and emotions, she didn’t want Ah Zhi to fall in love with her, and she herself didn’t want to fall in love with Ah Zhi. Perhaps she’s afraid that if she developed further feelings, it would cloud her judgment (again). She’s on a mission, and as always, she’s doing it solo. Everything she said on the roof that day in the Forbidden City was meant to make Yunxi hate her. She wanted everyone to dislike her so that, when the day comes and she’s gone, no one will miss her. That way, they wouldn’t have to endure the pain of missing her.
Gotta love Dudu. Personally, I do find him handsome in costume dramas.
Thank you. :3
She didn't just love him, she fell for him. ;)
