Feels like almost a must now that i drop in here every now and then to witness new obsessions and differing thoughts. I mean, a 73 episode drama i can rewatch in its entirety without a single skip.. a CDRAMA accomplishing that.. sigh, wonder when I’ll see that again.
Please just cut out everything that doesn’t involve elvis and tang ying around one another lol. I am astonished by how massively different the quality outside of these 2 leads dynamic is. Every supporting character down to the Fl’s own sister are thinned out caricatures to carry on a poorly handled main and sub plots outside of their slow burn romance.

Came here just to say this after 5 hellishly long hours of tolerating dull supporting characters and mediocre stories to catch 2-5 minutes of the leads in the same room. Not even sure if i want to drop, skip everything til the only interesting dynamic is on screen , or sit through the mediocrity. No surprise you’re sharing the same gripe here, everyone else is dazed by the romance.
As much as I’ve become used to masks in a day by day basis in the real world. The amount of times it occurs here I can’t help but to find comical like I’m brand new to it again. I don’t even think it’s possible to execute them well enough in dramas to this extent, just hinders my immersion.

Definitely ahead of you there. Would be a crime not to after zhen huan. Only issue from that is Zhen Huan itself exhausted the hell out of my interest in palace dramas and i’m still recharging. In due time.
Trailer looks promising along with some good feedback here. Can’t believe it’s out, felt like just yesterday i was itching to witness the infamous Zhou Xun for the first time here. Time to dive in.
Think it’s the first time I’ve been looking forward to another season of any kdrama. So much room for heavy topics tackled and in depth characterizations. Really I’m in withdrawal from the soundtrack , been far too long.
Call me a pessimist but with so much marketing of this drama, I am suspecting it would turn out to not be great.…
Nah it’s a valid suspicion, hell even the previews been very mediocre if I’m being generous. I got all faith in Kim Tae Ri’s drama selection though. The writer and director has notable track records as well. I’d say it’s fair for both ends to be excited and nervous with this release

It may not make sense to those with no knowledge of how different things were back then and/or the culture itself. Even then it still shouldn’t come off as something unbelievable. These type of relationships exist to this very day, just not as much as back then.
So uh.. seen the trailer. Any fans of Lee El should understand the sole reason I’ll give this a go is to see her absolutely murder another bus scene 👤.
Why the rating is so low? This is one of those rare historical drama which is realistically done to the core.…
The rating’s definitely fair, it’s just alot of the other dramas that’s inflated to this score range that makes it feel like it isn’t. I’m used to much more critical platforms where idols and fluff doesn’t take over judgement, I’d keep it at around 8.5-8.8, though that’s me.
Bingo, not the only red flag either. Sad it’s only the minority of great actresses that’s picky on their script selections. I hope she gets her name out there more with this at least.

Well I’ll just assume you’ve seen how nitpicky and critical i can be, aight. Yanxi palace gave off the vibes that it specifically targets the general audience with what they wish to see in a lead and ignores believability or logic. The writer’s mediocre in terms of all their work,red flag. Love like the galaxy just looks way too goofy for my liking, not a fan of the cast’s appearance in it and overall tone, splitting into part 1 and 2 pisses me off everytime i remember it lol. Can’t remember a single thing about sword and the brocade... I’ve checked it out over 10 times already, not a single damn th- Rebel princess started off with the weakest aspect of story of minglan , amateur last moment damsel in distress scenes. If I remember correctly it was even done 2-3 times in it’s first episode.. Red flag for the rest.
Listen, I’ll offer you a few top quality ones that hit similar notes Story of Minglan did right. As thanks if you sat through this meaningless criticism of mine. Dream of Splendor, has no business being a rec next to story of minglan besides for one thing,the romance. In my opinion it’s pretty weak elsewhere but I’m the minority to think so, still, dive into it for that aspect alone and it may surprise you. Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan, don’t ask anything of it, just check it out and dive right on in, thank me later. Battle of Changsha, shares the same screenwriter. Different setting sure but has no issue taking on that same style of writing and pace, just a bit aged. A shorter watch though, thankfully.
