What happened back then? I remember this was supposed to air back then..?
Erm...I think it was something to do with Li Xian's character's political beliefs iirc. Him being pro-Qing Dynasty. I was more than slightly upset when they pulled this, so I only saw the odd passing comment. I recall it being something along those lines, however.
Just so happy this is airing again <3 I was beyond devastated back in the day when they pulled this, as it was so good. Pretty much binge-watched/ re-watched it all over again soon as I got home as my impulse control took an afternoon off 🤣. Loving it so far. C-dramas are going hard this month, it seems.
There is no way they are giving us this back after all this time O.o. I can't even... Well, I certainly know what I'm watching after I get back from work. This made my day really.
I mean...I dislike complaining or being negative (honestly I'd prefer to not say anything and let people get on…
Agree, and there's a difference between criticism and hate of course. Hating would be a strong word for me. There have been shows I've had an intense dislike for, however (not gonna say which ones lol). Usually, though if I don't enjoy something, I'll just click off, go elsewhere and accept it's not for me. I was hoping they'd "re-invent" the fencing match, but the time is way past for that unfortunately. There's just something about the way Charan accidentally strips Khanin of all his confidence, pokes every single fault and makes it clear he'd never stood a chance, then regrets it which really helps form their relationship later. Especially after the attack happens and it's clear that poor Khanin really is in a bad place (not that I'd wish that on him as I love his character, but it's important). Not sure if we even got the orange vs coffee ice cream moment as by that moment I'd left lol >.> I might come back to this once it's done airing but kinda upset as I was looking forward to this one.

It's about the same unfortunately...I remember thinking the exact same as you that it was just a very weird, cold reaction. There are a couple of scenes where he's a bit warmer but not really. And there is the whole thing of the grandfather not telling *anyone* Khanin was still alive, even his own father. That really got under my skin lol. Not gonna rant too much but eh. As I adore the books I might sit back on this until it's done airing and I've cooled my head on it >.>
The king just drops the news about Kanin being alive like it's nothing? And his biological father had no reactionIt…
I mean...I dislike complaining or being negative (honestly I'd prefer to not say anything and let people get on and enjoy their drama), but I liked how it was done in the books. One detail or the other didn't make sense (mainly with the grandfather hiding Khanin being alive all this time) but by the end of the novel all my "huh" moments were very much resolved. Don't mind me as I am salty/ annoyed the "England" scenes were rushed though and there was one in particular I was very much look forward to (if you know, you know. Just gonna say "fencing match" and "Khanin getting a beat down by Charan" and leave it at there. It was a fantastic scene and developed Khanin a lot as a character). Might come back to this as, again, I loved the books a *lot* and I adored the characters.
Wonderful to see this will be airing soon ❤️it's been quite the wait! (Not complaining, I just love the Lost Tomb dramas and am always happy when we get a new one).
*added* just the sort of thing I was in the mood for, can't wait. Gotta give Netflix credit, they've backed some excellent Thai dramas in the last year or so.
For me, Joy of Life and The Untamed. Weird as it sounds, I consider them my "soul" dramas, I could watch over and over and never get bored with them. They're also two of the first c-dramas I ever watched, Justice in the Dark will be definitely be my third 10* based on the episodes aired so far.
I'm ecstatic to see that Justice in the Dark hit an 8.6* rating on here, it truly deserves it. NGL actually having this airing again still feels like a fever dream (albeit one of the best I had). I don't think having it back will actually sink in until all episodes have aired. It's wonderful.
I am eagerly anticipating the release of this series. According to reports, the production budget was between…
It's tragic about danmei adaptions...even with the censorship I loved them (The Untamed was one of my very first c-dramas and still one of my favourites five years on. Beautiful story). Even if there is the chance of the likes of Immortality, Winner is King etc being sold to countries like Japan or Thailand I doubt we'll ever see any new ones made. Not wanting to throw shade at c-dramas as I still love them, but it seems you can't even have a simple crime thriller these days without a love subplot shoehorned in. It's why I don't watch many now ig).
Regarding The Next Prince...all I can say is it looks absolutely amazing from all I've seen of it so far. Thailand for one reason or another seems to catch a lot of lack for their BLs. Whilst granted a lot aren't to my taste, others are amazing and some of my favourite series.
I hope you're right and this sets a new standard though. The story is certainly interesting enough and I love their relationship with one another. It's wholesome, sweet, no unneeded drama and just green flags all the way. Likewise hoping the series is very, very successful 👍can't wait for tomorrow xxxx
Drama has finished airing now, so any chance of marking it as completed?
For anyone cool with using torrents, you can search 星空下的黑潮岛屿 on sites like BTAG etc and find it there. The files are hard-subbed in English but like 3 gigs each. Not sure how useful this is and the seeds were a bit hit and miss when I downloaded it.
Re-watching this in 2025 as I only just now found out there was a special epilogue 🤣 (I have no idea how I missed that, honestly, but it was a nice surprise). Instead of simply watching that ten-minute video as a sane person might, I convinced myself that re-watching the whole thing all over again was a great idea. And it is, I'm having a blast. All I can say is, as with many of the best stories, it hits very differently the second time round.

It's been a while since I've been this hyped for a Thai BL...feels good!
