After all these years this drama finally airs and I'm ecstatic to finally get to see it. I haven't watched many c-dramas lately but China is certainly impressive with Republican spy thrillers this year...what can I say? It's one of my favourite genres and it's wonderful when one *this* good comes along.
Not taking anything away from Cheng Yi as he's an amazing actor but initially, this was on my watch list due to Liu Huan :). I've adored him as an actor since seeing him in Roaring Tiger, Hidden Dragon and he's exceptional.
Wishing this drama every success in it's second half <3.
Same. I've never been a romcom/ fluff kind of girl really and I tend to drop romance stories that focus a lot…
"Proper" BL-wise...not many so far tbh. Obviously Not Me and also Shadow, The Sign, and Laws of Attraction (quite weak storywise but I loved the characters and mainly watched it after seeing To Sir, With Love so I might well be biased, JamFilm were great together).
This year I'd say my favourite "BLs" are The Spirealm (a great drama if you're ok with censored Chinese adaptions) and Q18 (romance isn't the focus but an extremely unique and interesting storyline). I'm curious to see how Spare Me Your Mercy and Petrichor (GL) turn out (and Allure of the Siren next year, more crime BLs would be nice).
GMMTV wise I tend to prefer their bromancey/ horror dramas like Peaceful Property and Midnight Museum.
My problem with most gmmtv series is that even the plot is ''action'' or ''suspense'' after 2-3 episodes the whole…

I prefer something of an action/ mystery/ crime/ horror etc story where the romance is the subplot but there's a strong storyline outside of it. But sure, I'd love to see more BLs up to Not Me's standard, it was amazing (I might give Kidnap another look when it's done airing, I was just curious what people were saying about it in the meantime).
Uh yeah! Okay so before you start season 1 I must warn you, it can be boring and you will probably cringe at the…
Agreed, it's definitely worth checking out. I wasn't a fan of the comedy in season 1 but I'll watch the second for Kim Nam Gil alone as he's a wonderful actor (and extremely easy on the eyes). So many good k-dramas airing right now, feels good!
...I think that's the longest title for a drama I've seen on here so far lol. But this is the sort of storyline I'd love to see more on in gay romance or BL dramas. Onto the watchlist it goes.

Looking forward to watching this the moment I get back home!

2025 looks like it's gong to be a very good year for dramas.
