The story is the basic good heir takes out bad heir to rule over the people for their good. The Age of Blood is all about the cast and the action. Dialogue is basic, as in a 4 year old could understand it. I want to think this was the writer's intention so the focus would be on the cast and their action scenes. In other words, let's push the dialogue aside so we can get to the good stuff. Maybe it was in the translation, and if so, then the translator didn't do TAOB any favors.
If you love martial arts, fight scenes every few seconds, and not really caring why the h*** they're fighting, then it was a great watch. I'm 68 and I love watching men fight hand to hand whether it's in historical times or modern.
ps. NO, there's not a bit of 'romance' in this movie. Yes, the lighting was lacking, thereby I had to rewatch a few scenes to see (barely) who was who. Dark alleys were dark. Dark dungeons were dark. It reminded me of the countless comments we see about characters sleeping with the lights on. This is why. So we can SEE wth is going on.
I was about to write a review basically saying the same and read your's first so, thank you, for saving me the time.
I agree with everything you said, and I'll include the writing was very basic. Elementary school basic. Not dissing the writer's ability as it seemed like it was intentional in the lack of depth when anyone was speaking to someone else. At first I thought it was bad writing, but then soon figured out the martial arts aspect was THE main focus. The cast carried the movie, of course.
I've no idea who wrote the extremely hyped up synopsis which, after viewing, is actually quite the opposite of what is shown in the movie. Seriously, I don't give participation awards to every drama or movie because in doing so it doesn't challenge writers to give their best. Maybe the consequences of giving ratings too high in comparation to the drama or movie's worth is being felt in the poor selection of drama and movies coming out of S Korea in the past 2 yrs or so. Yes, a few have been extremely well written though. I was really disappointed in this movie. The acting was great. But that was it. Their tranquil life was not disrupted. There is no sense of tension between Seong Hye's husband and Chae Yun so she doesn't sense it, and her there is no unease when In Gu (doesn't) threaten to expose her past to Jeong Bong. There are no emotions to escalate and no secrets were unsurfaced, the four were not entangled in a web of jealousy and mistrust. There was no storm of emotion. Maybe if there had been any of this it would've been a good movie.
Nonsense. No one will go to that extent to save his daughter.
So, the questions are: Would you as a parent go to extreme lengths to save your child from public scorn, and prison time? Do you love your child enough to face public scorn and prison time in place of your child?
Yes, they would. If a parent has the money, then yes they would go to such lengths for their child. If a parent doesn't have the money, they would go as far as they could for their child all the while wishing they had the money to do so. What a parent is unable to get done, due to not having the needed funds, isn't an indication of that parent not loving their child enough. This is on the assumption the child IS innocent.
On the other hand, if the child is guilty....... A good parent would let the child take responsibility for their actions regardless of the consequences (jail, community service).
Netflix conditioned US viewers to watch on demand and then started returning to weekly drops. Personally, I like…
I do the same. Usually 2 or 3 episodes at a time. Mainly to stay fresh on what has already transpired, I'll rewatch the second half of the last episode that was released. I use to gobble a drama like it was a missed meal. Now I pick up more details, and this is especially helpful when one is watching more than 1 drama at a time.
YES, I'M SCREAMING WITH DELIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to bed early this morn thinking we'll, bless, I'll draw this out since I'm on episode 39. Like a good book, I haven't looked forward to finishing this 40 episode drama.
Then this afternoon I saw GA has 46 episodes. One more night to savor this family.
Go Ahead is my 4th drama from China. I've been picky with the selections. I NEED others' recommends. Nothing short of I could rewatch this 10 times and not be bored type of family drama. Thank you in advance ❤️
Great review!! I also noticed how this show was trying to be TW, with the whole plot of travelling to the past…
The writer got tired of fooling with him, had him killed, while he was running to evade the police, by yet another white truck of doom, and moved on like it wasn't one of the driving forces behind the FL's behavior in trying to "save" the ML.
Time travel needs to be retired, and Lovely Runner gives a good lesson in why. I've enjoyed watching for the unique spin on the old tropes. It didn't leave me angsty right before bedtime. Other than that, what else was there? Your honest review is much needed on MDL. The last 3 episodes were the worse for treating the viewer as idiots. It's unearned high ratings and the hoards of certain age groups that push writers' mediocrity. Why be better if given praise for lazy writing. Thank you so much for not holding back.
ALWAYS the first question before I read through articles. My Plan To Watch holds all the hopefuls without one…
I'd read in comments last year Hulu didn't offer a lot in Korean drama so I've waited. Unless a platform is worth the expense, on my limited budget, I can't see subscribing, mainly because I do not watch anything that the USA produces, and rarely something from another country such as Finland, France, etc. Are the dramas on your lists strictly on Netflix and Viki?
I wonder which online platform this will stream on.
ALWAYS the first question before I read through articles. My Plan To Watch holds all the hopefuls without one of the platforms I use , and Netflix. On Hold is for Viki and Tubi. I had to find a way to separate the platforms.
