Hmm, rewatched episode 6, then watched 7 and 8. Lord have mercy. I can't figure this one out. I don't know if maybe it was a certain person/persons, or if the writer, Baek So Yeon, chose to change the trajectory to confound us viewers. Around episode 8 is usually when a drama starts stalling for a couple of episodes in a 16 ep drama. It was 1 step forward and 3 steps back by the 8th.
I'll get my short complaints out of the way first.
1: There were a couple of conversations that included a line or 2 which I do not believe in 2023 should be included in ANY drama. For one, if men were allowed to cry when they're heartbroken or frustrated (like we women do) we might not see so much misdirected violence from males (in general). 2: For the last episode (10) the screenwriter should not have included the extremely short scene/dialog between Jun Long and En Pei. 3: The last scene with the original/biological Grandmother (Yin Yue) and Grandpa was also not needed.
YJGS is just this side of perfection. YJGS is a drama cleanser. It dusted and scrubbed away the stale from the same 'o same 'o the last few years have given us. I wish I hadn't waited so long to watch what I thought would be a boring slice of life drama. Yong-Jui Grocery Store flawlessly interwhined the past lives with the present lives of all the our characters. No character was left out for us to be able to understand their present state of mind and well being. The director weaved the scenes perfectly, or is that the job of the editor?
Anyhoo, as Grandpa said to Jun Long toward the end in reference to the name of their grocery store, "Yong-shi (10/10) means we are too perfect. Yong-jui (9/10), it's just about right."
this will be one very long week😠i am so happy we are finally getting to see kangho's true intentions as they…
I'm on Ep 4 and little bits are coming back in this episode . He recited a law in front of the kids which had to be pulled from his memory, but then he didn't know he'd said what he said to the kids.
This show is outstanding. Episode 8 blew me away. Powerhouse lead actors.
I'm busting butt to binge to catch up. The writing, acting, etc is what a Great SK drama SHOULD be. Ra Mi Ran's performance for the "I wanted to make you rich and powerful, but instead I made you into a cold-hearted Monster!" was powerful. This is what great dramas are made of..great talent not slacking, newer talent busting a** to bring it (and they def DO), a stellar supporting cast. What else? I sincerely hope the writer continues in this vein. So many in the last 2-4 yrs have been mediocre so it's time the writers said enough, we're bringing better to the table.
The mother having terminal stomach cancer is so insanely depressing, idk if i can continue to watch this drama.…
"I don't understand viewers who enjoy crying buckets in each episode." Because as hard as real life is across the globe, people need an outlet and they choose to release all their frustrations about life while watching a drama, instead of taking it out on other people in their life, or through violence as we're seeing in the US.
This hit so close to home. I'm doing what the Swedes call Dostadning which is getting rid of everything in preparation of one's death so one's inheritors, children, etc won't be burdened with discarding the abundance of a life lived for, in my case 67 years. It's a painful process, and requires deep reflection AND commitment. Once done only the things which bring an instant gradification & joy will remain.
who was murdered in 2021? --> FL's mother. Initially, BYY thinks her mother has committed suicide.Hae Joon mentions…
Okay, so I DO understand so far. I thought am I getting this right or am I missing something. I do want to thank you for taking your time with the explanation even though it wasn't anything I didn't know. I hope the writer does us justice with the drama. So far it's been so intriguing.
I would like for MDL to choose pics such as this for a profile pic instead of one where we have to google images to see if it really IS the actor or actress. I don't know who does the choosing but they seriously need an eye exam. And they turn down all requests for newer pics "because it looks just like him" which pertains to all requests.
Compare this profile pic to the pic in the news article of May 18, 2023 and you'll see MDL doesn't choose the best for Korean actors or actresses. It's like they have a bias against SK.
