This isn’t necessary about the drama itself it’s from a niche genre. There are millions of novels, manga, and manhwas about Omegaverse, just like there's this genre of vampires or demon hunters. If you’re familiar with the genre, you’ll automatically understand the rules without the story spelling them out, the same way a vampire world doesn’t need to explain fangs and blood-drinking because the community who's watching it already know. I’m very familiar with Omegaverse, so even without reading Desire’s novel, I understood everything that happened. It really just comes down to whether you know the genre or not.
Also to answer your question on why they couldn't recognise each other: 1. the room is supposedly very dark (also as per novel), we can't see anything from the footage it it was dark so obviously they'll dim the lights so we can see.
2. Voice and scent recognition? Sheng Shaoyou isn’t familiar with Hua Yong’s original dominant scent. Hua Yong has been using suppressants to mask himself as an omega, which makes his scent smell submissive and completely different. In fact, in the previous episode when Sheng met him from behind the curtains, he caught the orchid scent and thought to himself, “Orchid? Is that Hua Yong? No—it’s a dominant, an S-Alpha.” So he clearly didn’t realize it was Hua Yong.
3. Everyone was intoxicated by pheromones. With the heat/rut pheromones in the air, their senses are OFF and Wen Lang is heavily drunk in the novel+ his rut got induced from Gaotu's heat pheromones.

Shaoyou's company is struggling to make progress with his cancer treatment project, so he’s seeking a collaboration with Company X—unaware that the company actually belongs to Hua Yong who planned this path for him. So, Hua Yong instructs Wen Lang to pretend that he wants to sleep with Hua Yong. And will give Shaoyou access to the cancer cure in exchange for letting Wen Lang/ X company spend a night with Hua Yong, using this as a way to test Shaoyou’s loyalty.

what episode are you in? I can explain the core of it all so basically yes Hua Yong owns the company X and he’s super powerful in the ABO world. He’s been obsessed with Sheng Shaoyou for over a decade, and he used his money + influence to get close to him. Hua Yong also supports Sheng Wenlang financially and even built a company with him, so Wenlang kind of owes him and helps him to get with ShaoyouAll the companies in the story are pharmaceutical ones, focused on meds for ABO people and Hua Yong is at the center of it. On top of that, Shaoyou’s father has cancer, and Hua Yong made medicine for it, which ties Shaoyou to him even more. So yeah, they’re all intertwined because of business, power, and Hua Yong’s obsession with Shaoyou.

Yep they should've implied it and followed the novel as it left me confused for a second too, but it wasn't the first Alpha I've encountered in a story that ended up not remembering who they slept with even at the moment they knew who it was.

Well there is this thing in Omegaverse called a "fated pair" means these two were born for each other no matter what they belong together some authors make it the core of their story. As for the recognition if they know each other well in this situations it's not hard to recall them, but It's VERY common that they don't know who they slept with infact many have an offspring not knowing they them or not knowing who the father is (like what happens when someone gets spiked or drunk and sleeps around they wouldn't remember much) the phemones effect is much stronger.

I know very valid, voice faking doesn't work with me 😂 but as per the novel explanation Hua Yong's voice is beyond recognition described as low cold as ice voice ≠ the usual soft sweet omega, and when Sheng Shaoyou was yanked inside he said something like I don't have time to rationalize who's this.
