Could have happened. Could also be a great play for publicity and sympathy, also while promoting this show! Excellent…
He has to prove it to anyone who asks because he made the fucking allegation. How do you know all this you claim above? Have you seen a police report online? Did anyone pull out a phone camera? I don't know if it happened or not, I just don't believe anything celebs or their people say without verification, whether they're gay OR straight. Celebs and thei r PR people lie like dogs all the time. Grow up. btw, Jussie STILL says it really happened. :)
Not watched yet but don't like the sound of teachers throwing around kids??
Do people like you, who apparently watch only dramas in which every single character acts with pure motives and does only lovely and kind things, really exist? If so, why?
Transgender and intersex are two different things. Regardless of this, they didn't really explore this aspect…
Are you watching the currently airing BL series DNA Says Love You? It is based on a similar premise and I'm interested to see how successfully the show presents what a real-life Intersex situation might look like.
I agreeeee. they did Loony dirty. I wanted him to at least experience success/happiness after being clean for…
Hey, I put Racket Boys on my to-watch list! Thanks for the rec. sounds like fun. There is another Asian series about a two-person male badminton team made up of a young man and his cousin, who is slightly intellectually disabled. If I can find it on here I will recommend it to you. It is very good.

I just think they made a mess of the entire intersex aspect of this movie. Just because someone has lost their uterus and ovaries does NOT mean the first thing you would think to do is turn them into a man. She obviously had NO exterior male genitalia or she and her parents would have been aware of it. So did surgeons somehow CONSTRUCT a fully-working penis and testes for her, as indicated by her morning boner? That is NOT how it works; I don't think the latter is even possible, especially because there was nothing to start with in the first place.
So if she had lost her ovaries and uterus, she would still have retained her vagina. She had lived as and felt like a woman all her life. What would really happen is that surgeons would remove any male/testes tissue they could find, perform a hysterectomy and call it good. Like I said, this show made a mess of the Intersex element completely. And the character was totally NOT believable as a male after the surgery. I would assume she would also have been put on male hormones if such a stupid course of treatment were selected, which would lower her voice, give her SOME facial and other body hair, etc. As it was, she just looked like a girl trying to half-ass look like a guy.
We are to believe they tore out a fully functioning vagina and decided to turn someone who is obviously much more a female into a man. So STUPID. who wrote this shti?
I agreeeee. they did Loony dirty. I wanted him to at least experience success/happiness after being clean for…
Yes, I always found it strange that, given the clean, sanitary, light and room-filled ambiance of the prison building, along with the guards being trained to treat the prisoners as human beings, the exercise yard, the workshop, the greenhouse and garden, etc. that the medical attention seemed half-ass. Especially in Loony's case. In at least some of the U.S. states there are full-bore drug rehab facilities within the prison system to help people like Loony. The idea that within such an otherwise progressive system someone like him would have been left to go cold-turkey to get clean and then receive no follow-up, no ongoing NA or AA meetings, no counseling of any kind just doesn't make sense.
Sadly, even if in my mind the story continues with Loony getting clean again in a treatment facility with lots of daily followup, the truth is that his boyfriend will NEVER trust him again and will drop him cold after this latest experience. And the BF and parents know how addicted he's been; they should have insisted on picking him up AT the prison. One night free, then off to the rehab!
I cried like a baby when Loony shot up in the van, just as the writers set me up to do with the BF/the ring/his parents at the restaurant, even his reluctant mother. BTW, the actress who played the mother is my favorite Korean actress. I have seen her in five or six different movies/series and she rocked my world across a wide spectrum of roles, each very believable and organic. She's amazing.
Worst BL? Have you not seen the 50 or so Thai BL's that they manufacture off a factory assembly line? And where…
Weirdly, I don't generally like to re-watch BLs or any films really, until it's been a while since the first time. Not sure why at all. I've learned that the longer I wait the more that feels new the second time around. I will make WYEL my next series watch. The type of body you prefer is same as me...fit but not "i'm at the gym six days a week" plastic. Yes, it tells you something about the owner of such a body.
Worst BL? Have you not seen the 50 or so Thai BL's that they manufacture off a factory assembly line? And where…
Will do. And if you read my other comments here, you'll see that although I am dropping this series I have nothing but praise for the guy playing the chef, who is your WYEL dude. He is natural, charismatic, handsome, what's not to like? And it's obvious he has some acting talent. I wonder what's up with the slow career development.
Went to YT and watched Holland's "Neverland" MV, which has 14M views after four years which isn't bad. He has a fine voice and vibe, though it's impossible to know how his career would be going if he wasn't out. Seems like it would have been better career strategy to get established as an idol and THEN come out. You would have some $$$ stashed away and your coming-out would have much more impact.
K-Pop and Korea in general are truly twisted on the LGBTQ issue. I would not hesitate to wager that at least 75% of male K-Pop idols and backup singers/dancers are gay. Gay people have always, for centuries, dominated the arts in every field. It's nothing the least bit new. Think of the power a mass, all-at-once, giant coming-out of all gay K-Pop idols would have. Explosive! Of course it will never happen because each individual is too worried about the own career. However...there are small signs of progress: In two recent K-BLs, one of the leading gay roles was played by an established/up-and-coming idol: Cherry Blossoms Before Winter and Semantic Error. I am surprised they took the risk and that their management allowed it, but they did and that's a very good thing.
I do NOT, however at all get the push for "representation" demanding that gay actors play gay roles. Gay men have been playing straight men for centuries. Why shouldn't straight men be cast as gay men if they are best for the role? What does it do for LGBTQ visibility to have gay men in gay roles? It implies type-casting. I would want more OPENLY gay men in straight roles and vice-versa. Especially at a time when we are seeing more and more movies/series being cast without regard to race, why should the sexuality of an actor take on MORE weight rather than less? Doesn't make sense to me.
As for BLs, which are a distinct form of drama, I am much more impressed by truly STRAIGHT actors who take on gay roles and play them to the hilt, kissing/making out/sex scenes/whatever, and without any mannequin-kissing, than I am by any gay guy who does the same thing. But if a gay actor happens to be the best actor in auditions for a gay leading role, then it just shouldn't matter one way or the other. Take Secret Crush On You: It would be awesome to learn that dai-ZEE is iIRL a straight dude doing an amazing job of playing a screaming, flamboyant trans queen, if that's what dai-ZEE is; I'm still not sure, rather than simply a real-life screaming, flamboyant trans queen playing herself. What talent does that show?
Anyone interested in seeing a straight actor do a stunning job of portraying a trans woman should seek out the film "Soldier's Girl." Actor Lee Pace plays the "girl." I was aware of Pace and knew who he was from a couple of other movies I'd seen. I had no idea that was him onscreen until after I'd seen the film and checked out the cast. Amazing.
Try as I might, I can't even enjoy this as a good hate-watch. Too many stupid plot and directing oversights that distract me from what little story there is. The chef actor is handsome and talented. Holland needs to find a good makeup person to travel with him. I think he could be somewhat attractive without that horrid bleach job and decent makeup. He was funny, dryly confronting the girl on how she was scamming the chef. Where is his character getting all the clothes/jackets/coats/sweats, etc. he is wearing? Where was he living before he barged in? When the chef woke up with Holland draped over him I thought for a second he was being attacked by a vampire. Footage of the ocean is beautiful.
Ep. 2: The chef is handsome and doesn't look nearly as un-dead as Holland. He also seems to have some acting chops were he given a good script and direction. Holland looks like a drug-addicted zombie who wandered in from "Train To Busan." In one scene his face was downright oily-looking, greasy. ick. He has no natural charm and the chemistry between the two is forced. So one homeless dude yelling at people on the beach filled up the restaurant, meanwhile someone put up outdoor lights and a seating area on the sand. lol Yes, this truly is an intelligence-insulter and a fun hate-watch. On to ep. 3:

But I don't understand how a low budget excuses bad writing and acting and plotting. It would cost no more to produce good writing, acting and plotting. There are plenty of actors out there who would leap at this role this Holland guy has, and actually do a good job with it. I respect your opinion, Maggi, so I'm wondering what about this show works for you that doesn't work for me. I can provide a LONG list of little, low-budget BLs that knock this one out of the water. There is something about it...maybe that it feels to be trying to hard to be edgy.

Go away. You don't like BLs or the source material on which they are based. It's ok to spell out RAPE and SEXUAL ASSAULT. Survivors are not the delicate, trembling weak souls you expect them to be.
I found it really moving and the badminton playing blew my mine. I will def rewatch this series someday.
