A little thing I want to talk about:
I love how consistently A Lie is written. He is a trained fighter, was sold by his parents, he is cold, doesn't trust anybody, and let's be honest: he is a ruthless killer. While it was cute how Lin Zai was impressed by A Lie killing those men, I just thought: woah. No mercy.
While normally such characters like A Lie change and became sappy and cheesy when they finally find love (unfortunately that's a thing in BL), A Lie remains true to his character even during the love scene. Because this was some aggressive love scene!
Lin Zai had to fight him off twice to slow him down. There was never a moment of perceived danger, since it was for us viewers (and hopefully Lin Zai) obvious he would stop, but still it fitted the character perfectly. He was on the edge, most likely because he is crazy about Lin Zai, but also, let's be honest, when did he had sex the last time? It's the apocalypse after all. So I applaud the actor because he really made me believe he wanted Lin Zai badly, he was obviously hungry. Those stares and trembling lips after or before he kisses him! Still, he didn't lose control, which again fits the character perfectly. He is violent, ruthless and aggressive, but he can control himself, and he doesn't hurt innocent people and sure not the one he loves. Because, again, let's be honest, he could have raped Lin Zai easily. He is much stronger and knows tricks to immobilize a person. When he finally asked if he could go further, there was as much determination in his gaze as desperation.
Hopefully he remains like that and doesn't change suddenly, otherwise I have to eat my words. I love a good character development, but only if it's believable and doesn't happen out of the blue.
It's honestly sad how impressed I am by some consistent writing. And it's not like we didn't get emotional scenes, tears were already shed, but again, without being cheesy or sappy.
So hopefully they keep this up.

I'm gonna admit I underestimated Chinese BL series.
Now I'm converting to their religion. Praise the gods!

Actions scenes in ep 11 were really good too.
This series is so well produced and taken seriously by the whole team. Very strange. I'm used to watch BL series who are nothing more than a money grab created to promote a couple, sell merchandise and tickets for fan meetings.
You know what I'm talking about.

Okay, I will put it under spoiler.

GREAT SEX SCENE.
Now I'm waiting for the people complaining it wasn't romantic enough.
But I will say it again: BEST WRITING.
The scene fitted the characters perfectly. It's the apocalypse. Two grown man have the hots for each other, one of them is some trained assassin. It's not gonna be cute and fluffy.
I loved how A Lie was stroking Lin Zai's d*ck. You don't see that often, do you? That's how two men have sex. It's raw, it's hot, it's straight forward.
Didn't expect the episode to be so crazy good. Nope. I was bracing myself for disappointment, because I'm used to get disappointed by BL series.

On a side note: not a fan of flashbacks, but it was well done to show how conflicted Lin Zai is.
And the scene of the past with the parents selling their son A Lie was beautifully filmed. Different color pallet which made such an impact, a very short scene, but so well done. Easy to understand what's going on. The production impresses me with every episode more and more. It's beautiful to see that so many talented people came together working on this series.

So now I'm going to rewatch ep 12 a hundred times until ep 13 airs.

I saw the preview, but I didn't expect the scene being so long and so intense.

Why? He even checked the lids of the noodles, because he thought the guy was tricking them. I think he learned his lesson, he is just friendly.

From the preview it looks like his own parents sold him to the organization? Is he some trained assassin? Maybe I'm wrong, but I guess they will explain it like that why he is so cold, a lone wolf, and why he has no trust in people.

They don't have the budget. Never noticed how in BL series there are only a few locations? If you watch a lot of them you even recognize the same houses and places some companies use. Never noticed how the writing suffers because they purposely don't show certain scene? Prison scenes for example. They never show them, because they have no access to such places.

You can't even watch a decent Hollywood superhero movie anymore. The CGI they used 15 years ago was better than what you find in today's productions, because they want to maximize their profit.

This series on the other hand is a small production. A BL series. A niche genre which will NEVER EVER pull big numbers. Give them a break.

All of those aerial views are AI, either created by AI or they are real places edited with AI so they look abandoned and dystopian. In this episode for example when you see the airport from above. The plane is AI etc.

Such a tiny BL series doesn't have the budget to create those backgrounds without AI.

I love the writing so damn much. From the very beginning A Lie was portrayed and perceived as a bad and dangerous guy. Only Lin Zai did help him. Lin Zai then started to like him, his friends did open up to him. After the kidnapping it was clear again: A Lie is a bad guy who threatened Lin Zai. Lin Zai became cautious and angry, but he told the cannibal grandma A Lie won't kill innocent people. So he knows he isn't really a bad guy. Then Lin Zai was trusting that grandma more than A Lie and let his guard down. Now he learned his lesson! Yesss! The next good guy comes around, but this time he isn't easy to manipulate and listens to A Lie. I love that! Again, A Lie comes across as bad and controlling. It looks like he has power over Lin Zai which he doesn't really. Lin Zai is in fact stronger than him when you consider that he is immune against a zombie bite. Seems like in the next episode Lin Zai has to save A Lie. I just love how they are both strong and weak at the same time. And I love those characters like A Lie who come across as cold when in fact they aren't.

It's AI. Just saying. Makes you wonder about the future of music.

This is the best produced and best written BL I have ever seen. Hopefully they don't mess this up.

Some episodes like ep8 or ep11 looked better than the later seasons of The Walking Dead. They use AI, yes, but they use it well. I'm impressed how many different locations we have already seen, and all of them look realistic: from the camps to the forests, and now the airport.

The relationship progress is also the best I have ever seen. While in other BLs they get together fast and play house then (even in thriller/crime/fantasy genre), in this series they take their time. From the very beginning they showed us that both are attracted to each other. Now we got the first kiss, the moment was perfect and reasonable. The story progresses well with this new development. They don't brush the whole zombie plot aside to talk about their feelings. The relationship and the zombie/apocalypse plot is so deeply connected, that one cannot exist without the other. I lost count how many other BLs I watched where I felt the crime/thriller/fantasy plot was just done to make it more edgy, while the relationship of gangsters/cops or whatever main characters could have worked the same in another setting. Especially BL crimes series have often very boring cases nobody cares for, and are only watched for the romance of the cops.

So, enough. No need to put other series down. But The Last Oath is really something else.

I have mixed feelings about this. At the beginning I thought it's pretty okay, then Cha Do Hyeon's behavior got on my nerves, but then Yeo Eun Ho was giving him a hard time, which at least balanced the relationship out. Now they are just making out, and I'm not feeling those sex scenes.
There is just really not much substance in the story.
It's a nice series for killing time, but that's it. The kissing scenes are the selling point, but I'm not that hungry. I don't care about those.

People sometimes call it "fanservice" if there is not much plot, and actors have more kissing or sex scenes than needed for the story
