Is this Kenshin new version? I'm at episode 2, everything is dark and blue. He doesn't want to draw his sword. I would rather watch an old Kenshin movie, if this isn't getting any better. The girl reminds me of Rin from Blade of the Immortal or even Fuu from Samurai Champloo. Both couldn't fight and needed protection from some real monsters. Heck, the main character looks like the guy from Sword of the Stranger.
I hate the writing. The characters don't feel real expect the main character, but that's mostly because of the outstanding acting. Every damn reaction of every damn character feels so fake and stupid. Or they are just evil. Whoever wrote this has no deeper understanding of human emotions or reactions in certain situations. I thought this is a suspenseful thriller, smart and intriguing, but I guess this is some survival series like Squid game.
He plays Tar in this series. Just a guest role. I guess younger generations don't know him. I feel old. He is with Tay one of the big three couples, the holy trinity, the first and most popular GMMTV couples. OffGun, SingtoKrist, TayNew.
I started watching this, while I was busy with other things. I tuned in, tuned out. Then I suddenly saw a guy who got my attention. Frist thought: Damn, he is good looking. Second thought: He looks like Newwie. Then he talked. Third thought: He IS Newwie. I know New is a good guy, good actor, but damn, he is so blessed in the looks department. Without even recognizing him, just causally looking at the screen, not even following the story properly, I just thought: What a good looking guy. Crazy.
Some of my favorite couples over the years: MaxTul, TayNew, MeanPlan, BounPrem, JoongDunk, YinWar, BenzGarfield. MaxTul is over, MeanPlan and BounPrem destroyed themselves with the lack of chemistry and awkwardness during love scenes, YinWar became boring, TayNew gives us only crumbs. I can't believe they have a new project. I thought it's over for them too. Not looking good for my favorites. I won't tune in for a new BounPrem series. I somehow feel that BenzGarfield have no future either. I'm curios how long JoongDunk will be strong. Btw, the comeback of SingtoKrist was also underwhelming. Many new faces aren't doing it for me. I think I'm done with BL. The spark is gone.
Lee Jun Ho looks like the picture perfect Korean idol. Very slim face, very pale. Someone sucked the life and soul out of him. He almost looks like a woman, like Park Gyu Young in Celebrity. Hard to believe, that he once was this boy in Just Between Lovers with a full face, darker skin and so much energy and personality. Unrecognizable. Now I have to look at a face that many may consider beautiful, but one thing it's not: unique. A copy-paste face. The boy who once melted my heart is gone forever.
Okay, I know I'm overly critical, but that scene in the bathroom where she was showing the wrong James the drugs: I can't get over it. How stupid can you be to put them under your clothes in such a way, that you can't get them out fast, which leaded to this misunderstanding and the beating? How stupid can you be to bring so many drugs in this strange black garbage bag? Just put one or two of those crystals in a tiny ring box or something and put it in your trouser pocket. Those ridiculous scenes are just done so, like I said, the whole beating scene could took place. I know there is something called "character development", but I'm so tired of those naive and stupid people. She didn't even recognized the drugs, and just thought "strange things" were in the bag. Really? Not saying everyone knows how drugs look, but this finding would baffle me a lot. Next, not sure where this is going, but I wouldn't sell them, because this is some hot stuff. Since it's an unusual shaped drug, in no time the real owners will find the dealer. So that James guy is stupid too.
The trailer was great, so I wonder how they will tone this down and make it funny and cheesy. It's GMMTV after all. They always show us dark action/horror/suspense trailers, and then they make a cute and cheesy little BL story out of it.
Seriously, a company that's known for gay stories, but whose biggest budget spending goes to straight series but…
For real though. They know BL fans will watch everything. They don't even try anymore. There is not much competition either. With their hetero series they have to do well, BL on the other hand - put a popular couple in it and done!
