I wonder why people keep echoing that “misunderstanding” trend get pissed here and then give up. Well, if I can recall it right, Mudan & Jiang Chang Yang has no misunderstanding for the whole duration of 36 episodes of Part 1. As they have that mature and mutual respect (though they banter here and there), JCY doesn’t save her because he knows what she is capable of. So now that there is misunderstanding, as the plot progresses, then it suddenly like a big crime for this drama. If anything that is long overdue, is for them to admit what they truly feel for each other. And I don’t consider this as a form of miscommunication or misunderstanding. Anyway? It seems we are heading to that direction anytime soon. Nowadays, as viewers are used to watching shorter episodes of cdrama, they quickly get impatient. Unlike in the good old days when cdrama is lengthy, a slow-burn progression is not an eyesore. If you have watched classic historical drama that span 50 plus episodes like Flourished Peony (Princess Weiyang, The Story of Minglan, etc) then you would know what a slow-burn is and appreciate it. I want to read real reviews about the plot, character and other aspect of the drama and share commentaries but all I can see are complaints because the couple has not get together, misunderstanding, it’s already season 2, like this and that etc. The tiktok community actually iway better to read and share reviews about this drama than here in MDL, honestly.
