I personally disagree. Bai Jue's character is pretty stoic at the beginning because his character was written that way. To me, his path of sacrificial love is what brought out his character growth throughout the drama. For the most part, I truly believe Xu Kai's performance was well executed (especially the second half of the drama). There are many scenes where I teared down with him because of the emotions he brought out with his eyes especially. You can feel his love, pain, yearning, and determination to follow through with this plan. He may be young, but was a good fit in his role as Bai Jue and especially Qingmu.

From E40-49, every time Xu Kai starts to tear up, I do too! So many emotions were conveyed through his eyes! Amazing performance. I can just imagine myself having another round of crying when the final subs are released this week.

I enjoyed this drama from the very first episode. This drama didn't disappoint me at all. I still have it listed under my current watching list despite having finished this drama about 2 months ago. There's a reason why the comment page has reach 32,000+ because it's THAT good. Enjoy!

Their first arc together makes it bittersweet because we know the pain and how the story will play out. Despite having watch it already, it doesn't make it any less angst with the re-watching. I'm sure I will still go through the emotional roller coaster as I did the first time.

I was re-watching his sacrifice scene in E49 again. Watching Shanggu regaining her memories and going through Bai Jue's last moments before his sacrifice. The one sided conversation they had with each other. Of course, the music and lyrics came in at the right time. It still brought me to tears, after multiple times watching it. I get a lump in my throat every time during that sad scene. 😭😭😭

A few of us have similar thoughts as you in regards to Qingmu and Houchi being extensions of Bai Jue and Shanggu. With regards to Bai Jue's suffering, I personally feel that he's more pitiful because of the reasons you've listed. Everything that he's done was out of love for Shanggu and to save her. The path that he took was indeed a very painful and silent road. At the end, there was no on there to see his sacrifice. With Shanggu's sacrifice, many gods were there to witness it and try to stop her. But not Bai Jue, he was all ALONE. I'm not saying Shanggu didn't suffer, because we clearly see that she did. But just thinking about Bai Jue's lonely sacrificial path makes it more heart wrenching.

I love this list of yours! My list is very similar to yours. I didn't list them because I wanted to see what everyone was thinking. Just reading your list makes me want to re-watch the drama all over again. I probably will when all the subs are released by this coming Friday.

Yes, E41 was definitely an emotional roller coaster for me. Despite that I can still re-watch the scene over and over. 😂

This scene in E48 was going to be second on my list. It was satisfying to see that one moment for Bai Jue to have his son look at him in a positive way. Bai Jue's acting made you feel that his sacrifice was worth it, in those moments of being with his son.

This is a very good drama with a beautiful love story. It's been awhile that a drama has appeared filled with so much emotions and angst. Despite having seen all the heart wrenching scenes, re-watching the drama doesn't make it any less painful. The whole cast has made the drama worthwhile. Let's not forget about the amazing OST and CGI.

For me, it was the wedding scene during E41. I went through a list of emotions: disgust with the whole wedding scene, hate Wu Huan's arrogance, touched with Gu Jun's sacrifice for Houchi (even sometimes in denial that he's gone), sadness for Houchi's loss of Qingmu & Gu Jun, and hurt from Bai Jue being stabbed (both literally and emotionally). Great acting from the actors for being able to make the audience go through a list of emotions within that 25 mins screen time.

Some of us have finished watching ALP and others have watched the last 3 episodes while waiting for subs (but can somewhat understand the ending). Going down memory lane: What is the most memorable event/scene in ALP for you? I'm just curious about what stood out for everyone.

Jenny Zhang was listed as one of the main leads when the drama first aired. I wasn't aware she was switched to support role until your post. 😂

Leon Zhang definitely should be a main character in another drama as the ML. Both in this drama and Tears In Heaven (currently airing), he died in both. With TIH it was within the first 5-6 episodes since he was the SML.

As for Zhang Yaqin, she was the ML in Love In Between. Her performance was good in that drama. She should get more roles as the ML.
