the fact I made this comment 13 days ago & was able to easily find it my scrolling just a bit should tell you everything. though the show is enjoyable it is not having the same response as other shows out there or that have also ended recently.
so many negative comments, you preferred the main roles with non bullies characters instead and have another repetitive…
the fact there are at least 10 shows with the same exact plot but done better is the problem I'm having. They could have made it more interesting or from a different angle. The problem with reusing old plot lines from shows is that times change. Having the majority of the characters being "poor little rich kids" isn't going to cut it in a 7 episode arch. The other shows that have come out recently that did well had an adult storyline to focus on as well. so for me these were just a bunch of powerless teens throwing tantrums because they don't get enough attention from their parents or the person they like. The rich kids barely have personalities or interests that an audience can see themselves in. Morally grey characters are amazing and some of the best characters in history. The only character growth for the majority of the characters happens within the last 40mins of episode 7.... From an editing and writing standpoint, that's not good. They didn't pace things out well & kind of shoved everything at the very end. They didn't show but told us a lot of information when it came to people's feelings. & with everything being release at once it was made even more obvious that there was no one to really connect to other than maybe the ML. & I honestly just think it's because the actor is stronger in his craft than some of the others right now & not because his character is written any better. I hope there is a season two, just so the actors can grow & we might actually get to know the characters. Cause other than the briefiest of moments at the very end were any of them(the characters) redeemable. It felt unearned imo. again, pacing/editing issues.
Either the writing is bad or Jung Jae-I and Kim Ri-An's chemistry is. Or maybe it's a combination of both things. Not once in the present nor in the past did I believe that they like each other, and they are supposed to be in love? It's giving Romeo and Juliette after you grow up and realize a 13 year old killed herself over a boy who just really wanted to get into her pants days after being in someone else's.
The toxic "love" that she has for a literal monster in the making is mind blowing. I'm gonna say it and I apologize to my younger self....but fucking teenagers and their lack of a prefrontal cortex! She can see her dad is evil, but can't seem to see that her boyfriend is EXACTLY like him? He doesn't apologize, he sends people to do his bidding left and right. He even threatens people the same way her father does....honey, I hate to break it to you, but if you stay with this boy you will end up exactly like your mother when you do something that pisses him off. He isolates her from anyone that could be a true friend to her. He doesn't let her have her space...ever and is never understanding or empathetic towards others, not even her. You might think you want the villain's love. The type that will let the whole world burn if it means that you're "safe", but you have nowhere to live if there is nothing left...a lonely world made of ash and blood. If he owned it more I might hate him less, but he's just a coward who gets other people to do his bidding. Throw him in the real world and he has nothing.
Morally grey characters are amazing. Everyone has flaws....but as of halfway through episode 6 the ONLY thing that he has done even remotely good was getting the man her father whored her out to arrested. Maybe bonus points for going to her quickly after receiving the video of them together.
Which...tangent...I know I'm from the States and that my view on the law is different, but I'm pretty sure that producing and disseminating CP is against the law. They are juniors in high school...aka 16-17 years old...that means that video was taken when they were 15-16 years old.(international age) And revenge porn is not the win you think it is, son of principal. Again disseminating CP is, in most countries, a criminal offense. You do not have rich parents to cover up your crimes...especially in Korea where they can sue for defamation, even if what the person is saying is FACT. AKA if he uses CP/Revenge porn to take down two large companies it wouldn't work...they would just sue the shit out of him if they receive any damages. If you were to use the bullying and coverups you have a fighting chance...but the main thing you're using as your "ace" is just not it. Also Yun Ha Re, nice hit. Glad she actually has some morals. Looking forward to the only ending spoiler I know about Jae-I lil bro.
honestly will just watch this to learn more about Thailand's history/past. if they adapt based on simi historical figures/time. (sadly the only "Thai" history i have a reference for is 'The King and I'...and that's not saying very much at all as it was well, Hollywood's version, aka more than likely wrong &/or offensive) also hope that they incorporate the modern story that the Korean version never finished either with a second 2 like the OG or just tighten up the past story.
not the football I would think athletes that size would play....🤠also what's with the ill fitted cheer outfits? they should be able to afford tailors, no?
Putting this in spoiler because it's a bit critical of a show that has only just started and I don't actually want to rain on anyone's parade I just need to get this out to not feel crazy.
After only watching the first episode I have to say it doesn't feel anything like 'A Love So Beautiful'. I understand that Thai adaptations are normally quite different than their OG counterpart, but this seems like a completely different plot imo. The FL is giving annoyed little sister not 'I'm so hopelessly in love that I'm okay with making a fool of myself as long as ML has a better day.' Like the younger version sure, but the high school version...I need the director to direct and tell her her tone is off with her line delivery. She should sound sleepy not mad at the ML for waking her. The music/score isn't giving first love either. The only thing they got correct about the characters is the ML secretly enjoying her attention, but when she's barely shown it in the show it almost feels overdone. I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly for what I'm trying to say.
I only have one question, anyone please answer me. Was Sunjae on the last timeline (ep 13-16) where he lost his…
So high school Sun Jae was extremely fixated on swimming. If he didn't meet Im Sol this fixation would have lasted a bit longer than the OG timeline. The Eclipse members and his manager all talk about how strange it is for him to bring a girl into his personal space and they show/tell multiple times that Sun Jae is a bit of loner/loser. Also some people become extremely work/goal focused, and others are on the ACE spectrum and have no sexual and/or romantic interest in others outside of the one person they do like in that way. (Hi, I'm ACE, so I might be projecting, but I just figure he didn't really have an interest and just focused on his work.)
Spoiler tag cause long and a bit of a rant. Also putting this in the comment section because it moves so fast and I don't necessarily need this in a discussion section.
I've said this numerous times in this comment section the last few months, but I really need people to stop calling things plot holes that are explained in the show. The number of people in the review section not paying attention to what was shown, on screen, is actually astounding. It's like calling something gaslighting when they mean lie. All gaslighting is lying, but not all lying is gaslighting.
Just like in English(or what ever literature class you take in your home country) the story shouldn't have to spell everything out for you or over explain something that can be inferred by context clues. Over exposition within a work is the killer of all visual/artistic media. And people....this time travel isn't science based...this is not a science fiction show this is a FANTASY. Aka love and magic are what drives the story and fantastical elements like the time travel. Stop trying to make Harry Potter into Star Trek.
People are complaining that the side/supporting characters weren't explored and yet in the same review talking about how unnecessary RSJ's father's scenes and IS's brother and friends scenes were in the show. 🙃 No, we truly didn't need to know why a murderer wants to abduct and kill teenage girls. Some people are just weird and fixated on murder/death. And criminals tend to go after witnesses and seek revenge. We don't need some huge back story on the 2ML. The show gives us just enough information about the 2ML and the other friends to keep the story moving. Trust me when I say shows/characters can over stay their welcome when you start adding runtime to episodes just to give the supporting characters more of a story. You get in situations like Bridgerton season 3 where you can't even tell who the leads of the season are because the supporting characters take up more screen time and you end up learning nothing new about the leads. (this is a whole separate rant)
The director and writer did MANY things to foreshadow events that happen later on in the show. I get it, not everyone is going to pick up on these things, especially if they know nothing about Korean culture or Korean media, or media/literature literacy in general. But reading some of these reviews is like watching the point go right over someone's head as they duck down to miss it.
The reviewers giving their opinions and the show just not being their cuppa are very valid and I understand them. Not everyone is going to like the same things and having that contrast is important. I am only talking about the reviewers that are stating opinion as fact and who truly just did not pay any type of attention and decided to waste their time in a review section of a show they didn't understand, but think they did.
How does this compare with Queen of tears? That Drama Was a big disappointment for me and Is still rated highly…
Imo LR balances the story well. You don't get a fully tragic back story for a bad guy or a secondary lead. It keeps with a nice pace throughout. Each episode is almost exactly 60 mins with the exception of the finale which i believe has an extra 10 mins. So it doesn't over stay it's welcome...if you know what I mean. There are more light moments in this one with lots of comedy....though there are dark moments it gets balanced out. I like QoT, but it stayed in the darkness for way too long without breaking that sadness. LR doesn't make you sit in that sadness for long periods.
I just realized… how did sol not feel the ring in her palm? 😠there’s no way she didn’t
easily. of you are distracted enough. but I also have adhd hands...aka hands that can make anything disappear from myself. if the ring is light enough & hands cold enough she wouldn't have noticed.
Spoiler tag cause long: Okay you have 'Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy' in your "Plan to watch" list but not 'Coffee Prince'????? I have questions....but seriously if you liked 'My Lovely Sam Soon' you'll enjoy Coffee Prince. 'Pasta' might be up your alley as well. It looks like a lot of the other "classics" i would recommend are already on you "Plan to Watch" list but a few that I think you might like based on your star ratings of other shows.
'True Beauty': Kdrama; same writer as LR and you will see a lot of overlap in scene structure and character dynamics
'Strong Woman Do Bong Soon': Krama; very similar vibes to LR. It is one that makes me kick my feet when I watch it. Also has a crime side plot
'Marry My Husband': Kdrama; also a very well done timeslip show more "adult" as in the characters are in their 30s after going back in time
'Perfect Marriage Revenge': kdrama, if you like a good classic kdrama this one will hit all the spots...the classic tropes are done perfectly in a much shorter package
'Love Lasts Forever': Jdrama; Satoh Takeru has got rizz...i don't know if his rizz works on everyone, but it definitely works on me
'Hidden Love': Cdrama, I'm sure you've been recommended this one at least once trust that if you like LR you should like HL
'When I Fly Towards You': Cdrama, same author of Hidden Love; she falls first he falls harder, green flag
'Amidst A Snow Storm of Love': cdrama; slow burn with great chemistry and cinematography
'Extraordinary Attorney Woo': Kdrama amazing characters and actors...special place in my heart because I'm neurodivergent and so it made me feel seen...also green flag ML
'Love Me, Love My Voice': Slow burn, only fluff no drama. This one might be too slow for some people, but if you like the actors it's worth it...hell the OST is worth it...all the actors but the FL are professional singers using their real voices
'You Are My Glory': Cdrama, more mature love, and honestly Yang Yang's best work I've seen...the video game parts are a bit slow, but it's a Celebrity dating a non-celebrity so might be up your alley
Moives: 'Our Secret Diary': Japanese...so so soooo good. Not very long very much worth it. The ML is also a voice actor so you might recognize him/his voice
'As Long As We Both Shall Live': Japanese...chemistry was chemistry-ing
Period shows that I think should be watched at least once:
'Moon Embracing the Sun': kdrama, the young cast are all big names now. OST is amazing...Lyn did her thing...at least watch the first 4 episodes with the young cast
'Under the Queen's Umbrella': kdrama, cried a lot...very much worth it...Mother doing anything and everything for her sons...so good
'Love Like the Galaxy': Cdrama; Don't let the episode count scare you. They pace the show well so there are small arches within the show. I binged watched this in 3 days because the cinematography and story were so good.
'Knight Flower': kdrama; Honey Lee...just Honey Lee...ML is also going to be going places so I would keep an eye out on him.
Ah, the "over rated" trolls have arrived. Don't feed em after midnight y'all. Let them have their opinions and don't let their opinion affect yours. aka keep it moving.
Can someone please recommend another kdrama/cdrama with the same vibes?????
I honestly haven't seen one with this level of overall vibe...closest one Strong Woman Do Bong Soon....Love dripping from ML's eyes...side murder mystery 2ML is also a cop......👀wait a damn minute...this show is like if Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and True Beauty had a baby. But those two shows might have similar vibes for you. I can't tell if you just don't keep track of the shows you watch on MDL or if you haven't really ever watched Asian dramas before as you just opened your account today. So let me know and I will give you a nice long list if you wish.

I'm the age of Im Sol, born the same month. I can confirm she did just fine. ESPECIALLY when she talks to Tae Sung & those kids smoking...I was like but why is it so accurate....🤣
People owe Ryu's manager an apology, yeah I saw most of you pin him as Ryu's murderer 👀
oh the CEO was sus as f*ck....but he was supposed to be. We love a red herring. They didn't even introduce the murderer until episode 5...which, honestly, well done production team on that plot twist. very subtle acting from mama bear about her accident being MORE than what we knew.
I knew I should have brought my laptop to work with me. I can't respond to the discussions on my phone for my life. one more hour. I'm not ignoring people I swear 🥺😢
hey guys, tmrw is my first exam and last one in on 13th. I am leaving this comment here so you can recommend me…
Based off of your watch list and what you're looking for A Shop For Killers The Atypical Family (currently airing on Netflix so as of episode 8 still very good; similar vibes to Moving with multi generation and super powers) I don't really watch too too many in the bully genera as I tend to stay in the romance, but those two shows are solid
