Is it very political? Any drama about Tibet which is historically framed as "Tibet’s peaceful liberation" will probably whitewash the invasion and occupation of said country.

I am not even sure that she has a motive as such (that would imply that it was planned) - other than a need to impose her own standards on her offspring. Many patriarchs / matriarchs ruin their families because of their views on filial obedience, etc. Hopefully, she will see the error of her ways. But you could be right. There could be more to it.

I thought that it was odd that she would say it - IF she was the sort of person who chose not to allow her sisters to help with the running of the plantations because of arrogance or a need for dominance, etc. (But she isn't. IMO, her grandmother is to blame for the current state of affairs.)
