Does this have a happy or sad ending?

I really enjoyed season 2. The problems they faced felt natural and realistic, instead of most shows that force problems onto their couples for drama. I loved their acting (their eyes are so expressive!), and their chemistry was great in person.

I even liked the revelation (no spoiler) about Gav, because it made Pearl's actions in season 1 make sense. When I watched season 1, I was a bit angry with the writers for introducing Pearl that way, to create drama. It felt outside of her character. But with this new information, it makes sense.

I also love Achilles, and I hope he gets a special episode were he finds someone!

I absolutely adored this show! I held off on watching for a long time because I wasn't sure I wanted to watch…
Our first introduction to Pearl was downright awful. She messed with Cai on purpose, and almost ruined their relationship. I thought she was being set up as a villain, but then she turned out to be awesome. I think the writers just needed some drama in those moments, so they made Pearl a terrible person for 2 episodes. It was inconsistent with her character, as we learn later.

Then there's Cai's mom. She was pretty cool, but then she totally manipulated and guilted her son into doing something he didn't want to do. She said moving was his choice, but then said she NEEDED HIM, and that HIS DEAD FATHER WOULD BE SAD IF HE DIDN'T GO. That is some horrible manipulative toxic bullshit right there. He has a year left in school, and she's making him uproot his life to be her moral support?? It just seemed so out of character and such an awful thing to do to someone, especially your own son.

But she wasn't a bad person. The show just needed more drama, so they made her awful for a few scenes.

This really bothered me. Otherwise, this show was perfect.

I absolutely adored this show! I held off on watching for a long time because I wasn't sure I wanted to watch a show focused on the pandemic and told through social media. I thought I wouldn't feel the chemistry between any of the actors if they weren't physically together. I'm so happy to be SO wrong! They nailed it. The show never dragged for me, I thought they paced it well, with all the issues coming up organically. And I really felt their relationship and all the friendships. I loved how they showed the passing of time.

That all being said, the only reason this got a 9 from me instead of a 10 is because of the way they wrote 2 characters as doing something horrible to add drama to the plot. Pearl and Cai's mom were two awesome characters whom I loved - but they both had two moments where they had to be awful people in order to create drama for the plot. I'll put my reasons in a spoiler comment below.

I haven't seen any of it yet. Do you suggest I not watch the movie? I'm about to start season 1 now, so should…
Great, thank you! I'll skip the movie.

omg I thought I was the only one who felt that way, it took me like 3 months to finish, it has good parts but…
I can't seem to get past episode 14. Every time I think I'll go back to it, I change my mind and watch something else. I'm tempted to just skip to the last episode to see what happens. Since you've finished it, do you mind filling me in on the stuff that happens after she becomes king? Then I can just watch the end, haha.

Am I the only one 2nd leading?
I wasn't 2nd leading, but I was rooting for her adorable cousin's happiness, however he finds it. I'm only on episode 14, so I'm not sure what happens, but he is a precious gift and deserves the world.

I saw he's in a new drama, and it looks like he might be the second lead again. Give this boy a leading role, already!!

I love how the male lead fell in love with her when he ACTUALLY thought she was a man. And even kissed her while…
I agree - it was my favourite part of the drama.

This is just my take on Wai and don't get me wrong, he shouldn't have outed them like that but here's what I think.…
Yes, this is all true. The writing is great in terms of being consistent with the characters, because this is exactly how Wai would behave. His anger would be more important in that moment than his friend's needs. I totally buy these actions.

I think what gets me, though, is the fact that he never faces any repercussions for it. Pran apologizes to him for lying, and Wai NEVER apologizes for what he did. Not only does he never realize what he did was wrong - but neither does Pran. He never gets angry at him for outing him and his relationship. I think that's what bothers me the most. It's as if the show is trying to say what Pran did was worse, which is bananas.

It's possible that Pran doesn't know Wai is the one who turned on the speaker or let down the curtain, but it's unlikely.

Don't get me wrong, I love this show, and I will rewatch it again and again. This part, though, and Wai's lack of growth in terms of his own accountability, is the reason it's a 9.5 instead of a 10 for me.

I mean it makes sense for Pran to be a little more reserved, he was the one who probably suffered the most. Overall…
This whole comment made me smile so much. It DOES get better and better with a rewatch. Knowing from the start how Pran felt towards Pat changed a few scenes for me, and changed the way I viewed his character. Knowing he'd had feelings for Pat since high school, and how sad and angry he must have been when he was transferred, that made every sweet moment he showed even sweeter.

He was probably more standoffish than Pat because he'd been hiding his feelings for years. He was so used to not showing them, and avoiding situations where they might show. So for him to open up, even a little bit, must have been such a big deal for him. Even kissing Pat back on the roof would have taken a lot of courage.

Pat, on the other hand, is a loveable puppy, and the MOMENT he realized his feelings, he went for it. The exact opposite. So he never had to hide how he felt. He was just all-in.

But then they both adjusted to the other. Pat was more patient with Pran, and Pran opened up more and more. When they had their talk backstage at the play (before they were outed), and they both said they would change their behaviour because no matter what their issue was, they cared about each other more. My goodness, that was so healthy and beautiful.

Sorry to flood the place with my rewatch comments, but I just love the way Pat and Pran express their love so differently, and it works so well. The first time I watched I was a little frustrated that no matter how openly Pat showed his affection, Pran was still standoffish and a little cold.

With this rewatch I realize how much Pran does to show Pat that loves him. I just finished episode 11, and the fact that Pran was willing to stay on their "honeymoon", to get jobs and rent a place, even though he knew it would be better to go back... that was a sacrifice he was willing to make to make sure Pat was happy. And Pat saw it, so he sacrificed, too.

You'd think being so different would make it impossible to express their feelings, but they both recognize how the other shows affection - their love languages, if you will - and so it works. It's just so beautiful.

Okay, I'm done gushing. Maybe. ^^

Yeah, that seems cruel. In every show I've watched there are at least a few scenes where you can see the sweat dripping down their faces. Even the make-up team can't stop it.

I'm rewatching and I have to ask - does anyone else think Wai is a villain??? He's always needlessly aggressive, but the real unforgivable act is when he outed them during the rehearsal.

I don't care how hurt or angry or betrayed you feel - you do NOT out someone, especially someone you claim is your best friend. He threw his good friend to the wolves, knowing from the conversation he overheard that Pran wasn't ready to come out or tell anyone about their relationship. How DARE he. I kind of hate that he never gets punished for this. Pran asks HIS forgiveness???? Eff that guy.

It's just so hard to take them seriously when they're wearing those little shorts and high socks. ><

Yeah, that's what had me confused. When I first heard about this show, I assumed it would be university because of the actors' ages. Or maybe it was just wishful thinking, haha. I want to see Third play a role that isn't a student, so going from university in Not Me to high school here is a step backwards!
