I laughed a lot at your "Innocent Guy" part :D I loved the picture with the caption in particular (laughing aloud)
The ending was quite unexpected in a reverse kind of way, cause I bet no one saw a happy ending coming. Most of dramas with the revenge plot have the bad guy die in the end you know (like Bad Guy)
But COME ON, Innocent man's ending was not that hard to understand was it?! I mean some people said the final part might have been his dying moments' final dreams, but that's definitely not possible, with all the details and the story he tells the sick kid at the clinic, also he gives her the same pair of rings which suggests he's playing amnesiac wishing to start anew with her. I felt the monologue in the end to be very convincing and beautifully wrapped the ending beautifully. I was so happy at the fact they didn't kill Maru I didn't care about anything else to be honest ~_^

Well I always dream of going back to Japan, but if it's on a holiday trip I would feel it insufficient,
Would love to go again to study masters, but right now I can't seem to sum up enough will and determination to apply for a program.
Lately due to near to no practice i can feel my language skills have dropped :-(

It's an awkward question to be asked, Am I fluent? I get told so a lot but that doesn't prove I am does it www
I watch Japanese media with no subs and comprehend around 98% of the conversations, the parts I miss are mostly terms (science and law etc) or people speaking too fast :)

I was amazed at Lee Seung Ki and Rain's and their respective look-alikes! WoW Miraculous!!
Your choice of women made me think you were a man, so I was more amazed to know you're a woman :)))
I remember that when I started Flower Boy Next Door I felt that Go kyung-pyo looked a lot similar to Super Junior's Siwon, is it only me?
btw, you should write an article on females and males that look a like, like Arashi's Ninomiya and Renbutsu Misako.
Good article, keep it up!

WoW this article's got to be by far the funniest article I've read here.
But it would be impossible to make it scientific rules to the addiction since each individual has his/her own background and occasion on which they started to watch a certain type.
But as a long-time Japanese Drama watcher and current Korean drama addict trying to find a cure, I have to admit the fact that Korean dramas are easier to get addicted too, though they are longer (KDreamas: average of 16~20 episodes 50mins each/JDramas:9~12 episodes 45mins each) but it might be for that same reason that Korean dramas cause its watcher to suffer from over attachment to the characters to the extent of missing them badly after finishing the drama, meaning to say that we watch the characters for long enough and in a variety of situations that we start to feel them close and familiar.
Again I congratulate you on this article

I like this article a lot, glad I thought of scrolling through older Editorial article.
Asian Dramas tend to reflect its societies, sometimes in a bit of an exaggerated manner to make things more dramatic. I actually like how realistic the Asian dramas can be if compared to American ones.
I agree with your point that dramas should not draw bully characters in a way that makes them look cool or worse justify their wrong doings just because they have their own troubles.
I haven't watched neither of the two dramas you mentioned here but I've watched the 1st episode of Boys over Flowers and I totally found that suicidal scene shocking. Don't know whether or not that was in the manga, but I'm glad it wasn't in the Japanese version. The story should be of a troubled spoiled teenager and how he matures through loving a poor and righteous girl. The Korean version didn't stress that point at all

Sorry to have caused you disappointment :)) It would certainly be very interesting if we had an Asian Media department or something, would have loved to join it (laugh).
Well, I had always wanted to major in a foreign language and since English was my all time favorite I had always pictured myself majoring it, but in High School I started watching a Japanese animation (bleach if you know it) and I started to acquire an interest in the language itself and its writing system.
We have a lot of places which teaches Japanese in Egypt, and the major two universities in Cairo both have departments to teach the language, but I was fortunate to join the newer one cause it only has Native Japanese Staff which was the best part. Also I was lucky to get a one year program to study in Japan. Too much talk about myself ><

Thanks for accepting my add, the honor is all mine.
It seems I mis-chose the words, I meant Japanese Language is my major in college. I'll be correcting that right away, thanks for grabbing my attention

Interesting read!! quite edifying indeed. I always thought that the term "Flower Boy" derives originally…
for some reason the Kanji and Hangeul doesn't appear!

Interesting read!! quite edifying indeed.
I always thought that the term "Flower Boy" derives originally from the popular "Hana Yori dango/Boys over flowers manga/anime title. since it's always abbreviated both in Japan (?? HanaDan) and in Korea (???Gonnam)
seems I was mistaken?!

While I do admit sometimes I feel like cheering for the villain/bad guy, I'm afraid I can't agree with all of your choices.
I haven't watched either Twinkle Twinkle or Missing you, but I can't believe how you managed to pick two of the most hateful villain characters that I know of, Hong Sena and 7th Grade Civil servant Combi.
The former unlike what you said was over evil for no reason ever since she was a kid and I don't mind her being ambitious but to try and kill her own half-sis just cause she might stand in her way!
As for the latter, I can't find words to describe how shocked I was at you picking them out of all the other choices available; these guys were total idiots who couldn't even agree on the meaning of revenge, made strange and meaningless plans that mostly did them no good at all and only wasted our time.
As for Baking King, I agree with your point a little (laugh)

Yep, I've noticed a LOT of indirect commercializing of Samsung products mostly. Also clothing and those sports…
Agree!! that reminded me of several dramas where the PPs were so obvious it made me want to pull my hair.
in 7th Grade Civil Servant, there was too much obvious PPs of that kind, when Seo-Won took a shot of the car tailing them and cropped it, wrote a message above, and sent it to get identified! When he gave her a new tablet as a present just to write her a message on the screen and later exchange messages hand-written with the stylus. When that trainer (don't remember the names anymore) gave his daughter a new phone and we have a whole scene with her going wow over it!!
there's also that stupid scene in Rooftop prince when she sends him a multi-media message, and they show us how she does it from A to Z just to later show us him viewing it!!! O_o "Overly done" are the only words that come to mind.
