Oh, I have a question I always wanted to ask. When a certain product is advertised in a show, that naturally means the producing company of that product is paying the drama production right?
What about Indirect placement that you mention above? Do they get payed or not? I mean if you went to the bother or hiding a Mercedes' logo which is stupid since everyone can recognize it, doesn't that imply that you don't want to be advertising for free?
I always thought that hiding a part of the brand name or logo means that the product company didn't necessarily pay to get advertised for. Correct me if I'm wrong please

Compared to Korean dramas, Japanese dramas do make much more sense in product placement. For example you'll notice that even the latest J-dramas still show people owning normal phones (especially the clam-shell ones that prove they are definitely not smart) and that to me is much more believable.
I can accept phones and tablets (if not used excessively like all the latest K-Dramas) also fashion brands and cars and things that can be shown on screen in a casual and natural manner, but to advertise coffee makers and vacuum cleaners in that cheap kind of way like to make the characters go "OH! WoW it's so convenient and easy to use"....it's just frustrating!!!
In the Flower Boy Next Door, besides all the numerous Samsung products which EVERYONE is carrying, you can notice Kee-Geum advertising a coffee/tea maker or whatever with a special scene just for it O_o!?

there's no Asian Drama (especially Korean ones) fan who hasn't noticed the excess use of product placement and advertisements in the shows. You can hardly notice it in Japanese dramas if compared to Korean ones who just simply over do it!!!
Like you stated, every one owns a Samsung, it's like they want us to believe that if we go to Korea we'll find everyone on the streets talking through a Samsung.
It's the Smart phones generation and I can understand it if they make everyone own a smart phone, but let's be honest, do you think even elders in their 70s would? I don't think so.

Hi, Nice to meet you ;-)
I love your profile picture, so adorable.
What a long list of dropped dramas you have!! You sure are bold! lol
I mostly finish dramas i start especially if I watch more than it's half, and only drop the ones that I had MAJOR objections about (the plot, the cast etc,)

You're way off on Siwon.
The whole point of the Siwon character was to show the way extreme fandom…
I can't see why u're getting so worked up about. This article is merely for the laughs, you can agree or disagree. All of us know very well that the whole point about rom-coms is having this "hard-to-believe-they'll-end-up-together" kind of couple with the guy being handsome and mostly a self eccentric jerk, and the girl being mostly stupid for falling into such a guy.
I pressed like to your post in the middle of reading it coz i thought u spoke my mind but i wish i can take it back now

I totally agree with your point.
Ever since I've started watching KDramas and I've noticed the female dominance factor most of them have, i.e., the female protagonist being the center of the plot with the male playing the trigger to the drama. But despite it being that way I've also noticed as you did how most of these female characters tend to be either shallow, trivial or mere stupid (sometimes in a deadly kind of way) especially compared to the male character. It makes one really admire Korean men all the more just by being amazed at how they managed to keep up with such characters let alone love them.
I'd like to add to your list,
- Lie to me's Ah-jeong
- Take care of the young lady's Hye-Na (no wonder I don't fancy Yoon Eun-Hye much lol)
- and of course "7th grade civil servant"'s Seo-Won!!
There's a lot more but those are the ones that come to mind now

I didn't hate this drama at all....Very interesting story (I actually started it coz I wanted to know about King…
In my case it might have been the "got sucked into something else" one...might be so, but still when I remember how I never managed to finish this one, I'm like "half surprised/half not surprised" (weird and doesn't make sense right?) surprised coz I normally NEVER give up a show after watching more than it's half, and not surprised coz I somehow remember how near the end (the last episodes i watched I mean) I was starting to lose most of the interest in the plot.
Btw, now that I've read your comment i'm thinking about giving it another try after all, but I'm afraid I don't remember most of the plot @_@

The next to toilet scenes & fart scenes are vomiting scenes!! makes one wonder whether Koreans particularly love these nature-calls concepts or something lol
one of those vomiting scenes that stuck to my head was the one from lie to me. the reason it did, is coz I remember at the time how I was amazed at the male lead feeling like kissing her after she vomited on his clothes. @_@ still I love this drama :)))

was kinda expecting the one in My Name is Kim Sam Soon first ep.
Well then you should ;-)
It's one of the classics that I rarely find any K-Drama fan who says he hasn't watched.
It maybe a bit hard to watch now considering how old it is and the fact that most of us have watched both the leads' newer dramas, but still try giving it a try :)
gooheajung Apr 17, 2013
Unlike you I've noticed that just too fast that whenever a toilet scene pops up I'm like "here it comes!"
All comedy korean dramas especially SitComs, HAVE to have at least one toilet scene/fart scene. High kick season 1 had tons of them :)))

Yeah, I add my voice to yours, but not that one, rather the one with the "how each blood type acts when out of toilet paper" riddle scene...this IS the one that counts as a toilet scene, don't you agree

I didn't hate this drama at all....Very interesting story (I actually started it coz I wanted to know about King Sejong and Hangeul making) though I hated the two young leads' acting (the male being over-dramatic and the female lead being mediocre with minimum expression-changing) and thought that if it wasn't for the king's acting (both young and old) it would have been a disaster, but anyway acting was never my only point in viewing a drama.
despite all that, I have a question that I wish someone can answer for me...why can't I manage to finish it,,,I'm stuck with the final episode for like over a month now!!!
