On Tokyo in April Is... Aug 15, 2023
It was a little too melodrama for me, japanese style, and the main leads are not great actors (their younger versions weren't either), but I'm still glad that I watched. It was entertaining and short.

Gosh you telling it frustrated me the most I almost dropped off there. I continued after a glass of water lol…
Then I'm glad I didn't watch. I'm not big on frustrating series....

I think people who hate on this series is because they don't understand japanese culture and way of expressing…
It's definitely one of those that you either love or hate, so you better watch for yourself to decide.

I think people who hate on this series is because they don't understand japanese culture and way of expressing feelings and be mindful of other people. If you're new to japanese dramas then don't watch this. If you're used to their ways of doing things you'll love this.

Couldn't get past episode 1 with all the bullying, one of the main leads being a sociopath, the other being the good person that gets blamed for everything bad that he didn't do.... Nope! It was so frustrating...
How is this romantic?

Hongyo is definitely one of the weirdest characters I've seen in an asian drama. At times he scared me a little. That's why this drama leaves you feeling a little weird about the whole thing. It's not even that you feel he would force her or something, it's just that you don't know what he's feeling at any point and it's a little unsettling. After the cat thing... what's the next weird thing he'll think about? I don't know.... I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either.

It did have its flaws but not the ones I'm seeing here like people saying they didnt see romantic feelings from Yoo Jae. I did see them. No normal friend would get as jelous and possesive as Yoo Jae got the whole time, or as romantic as he was in the last episode. I think they did convey, altho in a poor way, that Yoo Jae had feelings the whole time but was having a hard time accepting them or maybe took a long time to realize what those were.

For me the flaws were that awful kiss (why star in a bl if you're not comfortable kissing a man? it's your right, you don't have to kiss any gender you're not comfortable kissing, but then don't star in a f*cking bl and do that pretend kiss, this is not the 1930s for gs) and that the editing and runtime were awful. It needed like one or two episodes extra, and the drama parts were put there in a rush and you feel like you're watching a short compilation of things instead of an actual episode.

The rest was good. The story was good, the acting was on point, the chemistry was good (even tho the lack of romantic intimacy did make it waver a little), and the scenes where their feelings were exposed were soo good and well acted. Their feelings were palpable. You could feel what they were feeling, It was realistic. Feeling one way but saying the opposite for fear of rejection. Feeling hopeful but then choosing to ignore the other person's feelings because you don't want to get your hopes up. It did remind me of my highschool days when you don't really know anything about love and you're too careful with expressing your feelings in case you get rejected or ruin a friendship.

This was not the best kbl this year, but if you watch without expecting too much, you might like it.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think it should've been a bittersweet ending with them not getting together.…
I did not see that. I mean, if you didn't actually have feelings for your friend what was all the getting jelous all the time about, I mean I have had friends I felt a little possessive about when I was a teenager but not to the lenghts Yoo Jae went. I mean, it felt more like he did have feelings but was fighting against those feelings and finally accepted them when he knew he couldn't ignore them anymore when Han Joon was leaving.

I haven't watch it yet but I'm bored to look at it coz the school theme plot is making me not to watch but is…
For me it wasn't anything special. Childish, slow and draggy. But everyone seems infatuated by this. I'll recognize the leads are cute but there's a ton of screentime where nothing is happening.

This was NOT GOOD. The dialogues seemed like they were written by a child. The acting was okay at best, and the story was so dramatic and not well thought out.

The kisses were indeed the dead fish kind but the rest of the show kinda compensated it. It was cute and it had and old kdrama feel to it, like what korean romantic dramas used to be in the 2000.
I feel betrayed tho, by the lack of proper ending for the second couple. Just for that I'll give a 7.5

Title Why I Dress Up for Love Spoiler
I was really liking this until episodes 8-10 where it all went to hell and they added the typical overused problems…
First they changed so much between the "lessons" of "sometimes it's right to run away a little from responsability and live a happy life" and the "you have to take responsability and face life and move forward" that it didn't matter the choices each other made, they would have justified it no matter what. Like you get Haru-chan proposing and being turned down for a legitimate reason only to get proposed to like days later and accepting (mind you it made no sense for such a new couple to get married, they barely knew each other as people) and made it look like it was the right thing to do.
Like that, their stories bounced between one decision to the opposite one in the next minute and justifiying it in a pretty way each time, but for me it was just poor writing, just to make it look like "life lessons", but of course it changed so much it made no sense. I mean, if they had just said that in life each option can be good and bad in itself I would have been on board but they didn't. Made it look like the last decision they took was the right one. Again, it changed so much it made no sense.

Also the end was crap. I thought the part were Fujino came up with a better idea was good, and traveling with his food truck was not bad, but to be fair, if they came up with Kurumi traveling with him trying to find new things to buy I would have believed more the part about them marrying and having a child at the end. So they're making a family with him almost absent all the time? Yeah I don't believe it. They had so many problems cos they were so different that if you add a long distance relationship it makes it almost impossible.

The bouncing between one thing and the other was also obvious in the relationship between Saotome and her ex-husband. You get him trying to get her back a few times, she rejecting him, then almost considering accepting him back, then at the last episode she rejects him, again, with legitimate reasons, and in the last few minutes she calls him and it seems they might start again. What happened to all the things you said a few days ago and you made it look like you were totally firm in your decision? Again... just, no.

These characters were depicted as being in an important moment of their lives where they have to make decisions that will change their future but in the end it was like nobody was making any decisions cos they chose a path and changed paths 5 minutes later. Hase-san with the art thing was exactly the same.

There are so many examples of this fickle behaviour on the last 3 episodes... and I was enjoying this drama so much, but those 3 episodes dropped my rating of this in like 2 or 3 points. Because the writing at first was good, but it became really bad by the end, the change in quality was really apparent.

Also, a few things were badly written. On the top of my head, Sachi was written as an annoying character at times and really cool at others. Like, dissapearing like he did was really bad and it made no sense for such a responsible adult that is the CEO of a company to do that in that manner. Also it was annoying that he was staying with them in the house when he clearly had money. That was added just to create tension between the main couple.
And the one that pissed me off the most is all the drama about plagiarism. In the real world, if that happened, nobody would go and curse out somebody who bought a purse when they didn't know it was plagiarized. That drama would have ended with an insta post like "we didn't know about this issue and we'll investigate it" and that would be all. But they stressed so much and make her worry so much and people were commenting "go die", what????? she just bought a purse that she didn't know was a stolen design! What's with the unnecesary drama!!!

Yeah... I could list more things that made no sense, and I'm not even mentioning the lack of chemistry between the leads sometimes..... I would have recommended this at episode 5-6-7 but now, I'm not going to recommend this to anyone, to be honest....

I was really liking this until episodes 8-10 where it all went to hell and they added the typical overused problems (the moving far away thing and running away from problems thing) and ended up hating it a little cos it tainted how wonderful it was for the first part of the series. I have a few problems with the story:

This was cute. Just beware, dont watch it if you dont like stories where one of the leads develops feelings really late in the series and/or stories that are a little slow. But I just skipped around when it was needed and enjoyed it all the same. It wasn't the best story out there but it was cute and fun to watch.

Title Hit the Spot Spoiler
I don't know how to feel about this drama. I wish they had concentrated in one thing, if it was sex it's sex if it was love it's love. What I mean is if she just wanted to discover good sex for the first time, and love wasn't in the mix, why were the sex scenes with ML so love-like? It didn't feel like they were enjoying sex together but making love from the start. Girl you knew what it was, why stop it all when the guy says it clearly outloud? Why behave like you're attached then kick him to the curve when he confesses? You need "time for yourself" and that lasts a month? Make it make sense.... It was like they couldn't focus the attention on one subject. If it was sex then it should be about physical desire all the way, but if you're gonna be romantic about it then give it a proper romantinc ending, cos this wasn't, this was like all over the place.
For real I was liking it until like the last two episodes, which were fine but it felt like something was off all the time. Everybody was giving mixed signals, Secondary couple included.
And the ML was written in such a way (like he was perfect) that you feel anger towards the FL for rejecting such a man after all she endured with the jackass of her ex-boyfriend. I understand wanting to think about yourself first specially after such a bad relationship but the ML was written as basically everything she wanted in a man. I don't know, I just feel wronged for some reason. And the sex-scenes with the main couple were so "dreamy" like, it didn't go with the tone of the rest of the series.... I think the writing wasn't good at the end.
Still, I liked how cute this was and progressive for SK, that's a big plus. But... yeah, I think they didn't stick the landing.

If you're expecting the main couple in this to be together then it would be a sad ending. But this is not ment to be watched before the novelist, bc the actual main couple (kijima and kuzumi) gets together in that series, and this is just ment to be a look back on kijima's life and why is he the way he is. So I would recommend watching that one first, otherwise you'll be rooting for the wrong pair xD
