Alas, dead fish were present in the filming of this episode. Sigh. Japan, you break my heart, though the scene…
That wasn’t a dead fish kiss. That was Minato overflowing with longing but being mindful of Yutaka’s feelings… a careful first kiss. Anything more would have been out of place in this moment. Very well done. As for Minato's dad... I competely agree with you... he's the best dad!!
For those of you wondering… the song that starts playing whenever anything starts (not) happening between Michi and Makoto is called Dansu Wa Umaku Odorenai【ダンスはうまく踊れない】(which translates to ‘I can’t dance well’). The original song is by Inoue Yōsui (1977), but this drama version is by Inaba Kōshi, who’s the singer of the iconic J-rock band B’z (they’ve been going since 1988). I’d recognize his voice anywhere.
It’s hard to find the drama version of the song on YouTube, but this is the original by Inoue: https://youtu.be/9ArXd0zD9zM
Inaba also did the drama’s original theme song, ‘Stray Hearts’, his first dorama song as a soloist. This is a cover version (can’t find the original on YouTube yet): https://youtu.be/jH0tCDZXQVA
And if you’ve fallen for Inaba’s voice (who wouldn’t) then check out his awesome performance of ‘Hane’, on The First Take… posted just this week!: https://youtu.be/rrfv8SPQ32c
Are you watching the drama because you are interested in it or are you jumping on because of the bandwagonist…
Allergic? Do you get a rash, or something? Do you need an EpiPen. I mean... jeez. It's fine if BL is not your genre, but what a way to express it. Not cool!
I loved this film. Previous works by director Imaizumi Rikiya I've seen are 'Their Distance', 'The Cat Escaped', and 'His'. All of them, including 'Call me Chihiro' have human connections at their heart. I'll definitely be checking out more of his work!

My favorite B’z OST of course is Buzzer Beat’s ‘Ichibu to Zenbu’: https://youtu.be/eJ-FOKIFGKw

He better have a cameo...
