I saw from an interview, Zhang Wan Yi mentions that the ending of the drama is very different from the novel...

You've read my thoughts! I've seen in another comment that the director might be planning a different ending, he'd better use this info and save the Titanesque love of XL and XY! It's so genuine between them that it freaking impacted my daily life (never thought in my whole life that I'd be this affected by a series, I'm into a journey and I was looking into my loyalties, sacrifices, mistakes.... maybe that's why it hit me extremely hard psychologically, I was given a masterclass by this fictional character).

He totally lost me when he said that he's willing to wait forever... I'm not into the "love marriage" narrative (I believe in an organic love, growing it together as a couple, being mindful about it), yet this hit very wrong for me, I'd feel extremely guilty (and guilt tripped) if someone says that to me and I will reject him even if he was a good man... nah babe, look for someone who loves you back.

Oh he better change that ending in favor of XL, I swear to God I'm literally heart broken, I don't even understand how a fictious character is causing me a literal life crisis, damn I need to keep my job lol.

Among all the dudes, he's the only one who's truly for her and giving her total freedom, Jing is a strategist after all and he knows exactly what he's doing, by accepting to "wait for her", he's basically willing to tie her and not let her be happy and in love, it's the total opposite of Xiang Liu, who sees her hesitation , he's smart enough to "work" on that, he knows she's struggling with her feelings but he decides to let her go and never forces her... Yes, demons are usually known for total loyalty, once it's given, it cannot be taken back, he even told her basically as Fangfeng Bei that she can be with him but that loyalty ties him. The irony is that if she knew who her real father was (I've read comments about the novel here) and if she was brought up under different circumstances, their love would have been the most natural thing for them...

On his conversation with XY on the boat, Jing mentions that Hou might be steering the family business into danger.…
They didn't...erm well, I don't remember this detail.

Damn it's the first time I rate a series 10/10, that XL is freaking heartbreaking, he even created a true life crisis in my daily life, I've never seen such a portrayal of TOTAL DEVOTION while being TOTALLY LIBERATING for the FL. He's not stalking her, he's respecting her choices, including the choice to stay away from him (unlike Jing reminding her all the time), while keeping his sworn loyalty to the army.

For those who talk about "violence", he wasn't violent towards her, he was giving her more freedom by acting as if she were a man, not raising suspicion on her side. He was also willing to snitch on Jing fiancΓ©e to give her "help" but she didn't want to. Bloody hell, they'd better revive him in season 2 otherwise it will haunt me for life ... even when he left her to swim back as a princess, it was his way of letting her go and make sure her will of not entering her dreams come true.

I was never so awestruck by a character to this level, he even exceeds Run Yu's depth of character in Ashes of Love because unlike him, nothing changed him, no matter how much cruelty he faced in his life, how much despise he's been subjected to (when he was listening to some people in the army), he could even play the game of power if he wanted and take the "protection" of XY as an excuse but he doesn't.... woah, the most perfect character I ever saw.... Bravo Tan Jian Ci, you did great justice to this character, I'm bowing to you!

I hate Su Ying but it doesn't help that she's smoking hot. Also, her x that Mu Sheng's back story is very beautiful…
It's interesting because some people are so into "goodness" and "getting the world rid of evil" that they become insensitive to humanity, only words and "actions" are valued (that frigging promise lol), except that people change with time and a promise made in a certain circumstance might become null after some time... someone can keep a promise but the point when his heart has changed...

Woah shout out to Youku, they're making some great productions this year ! This one is a perfect for me, everything is great so far, the betrayal of the Dragon for love, times changing and the loved one is lost, absolute prejudice against spirits turning an act of loyalty (contracts) into slavery, sects always being soo good that they become out of balance and just turn bad (we need balance between good and evil, too much of one side and we turn into a Suying). I love it!

Title Joy of Life
I tried to watch this due to the high rating but why I couldnt get pass the first 5 episodes?
Just be patient, it's building up until the last episodes where everything makes sense, especially the last explosive one. Another thing that I've noticed, I couldn't afford, literally, to skip one minute from the show because the story is complex and it takes a lot of time to understand it... maybe I'm dumb but that's how I went through it.

Thank you! Those clips are great ! Who would believe it’s the body of a middle age man! I need to go back to…
Oh please, don't be sorry , I'm a thick skinned 34 year old woman hahaha ! Its just that middle age in usually for people in their forties and fifties and it's a blessing to look that good in that ahe bracket.
Well, these are historical dramas and at that time, its difficult to be single for a woman while being on your thirties, so I understand their logic behind the cast, same for the mimics and childish pouts, girls at that time were married early, for men , they can have concubines and immortals are usually old but look much younger due to their successful cultivation. Truth is, as a woman in her thirties, it's more difficult for me to see generals in their twenties achieving so much and looking so cute with skin untouched by the sun, all fair and white lol.
I was asking about age because when I was a teen, a 37 year old man is an uncle hahahaha, now that I'm much older they look "normal" to me, not very young but not that old either... so your comment was funny, I laughed because I said to myself she must be a teenager, it's crazy how our perception is different

So far good. However ,the male lead acts like a robot. He did the same thing in legend of Chong ZI too πŸ˜‚
He's a crown prince, so he "pretends" to be all serious, hence that feeling of being a robot, because he's obviously faking it.

Getting more and more interest in this drama. Anyone know where can I view those trailer from ep 13 onwards?
I watched trailers up to ep 18 in wetv (tencent) . I logged off to see if people can watch them without a subscription (I do have one) and it's working just fine. ;)

Ruthless and cunning? Then she should've dipped her handkerchief into chicken blood instead of jam, lol. πŸ˜‰
That's her "reputation", she's not ruthless lol.

ugh I wish every one of his dramas used his real voice, the dubbed ones are thankfully not bad but his original…
Same, his voice is sultry, manly and very sexy, I just don't get it.
I saw in a comment below, in this thread, that his voice is dubbed because it's too low and he tend to talk a bit faster, maybe he needs to work more on his delivery but for us international audiences, we don't understand anyways lol (although I'm learning mandarin and I've noticed the difference, I can pick words when it's dubbed, in autumn's ballad, it was indeed more challenging for me but I thought it was just because my ass is an absolute beginner).
