I May Love You is one of those dramas that had potential but got lost when, for most of the drama, the female lead is putting off the male lead because he rejected her confession which, by the way, was abrupt and lacked sincerity when she tells him the shallow reason for what she likes him making herself as superficial as her reasons. The male lead doesn’t realize that he had started to fall for her until she leaves his side. He starts to court her by all possible ways, only to be refused in a rude, humiliating, and cruel way every time he tried to pursue her even though she still likes him. The male lead did a great job bringing his character to life and bringing out all kinds of emotions like anger, jealousy, uncertainty, honest care for her, and deep love that he demonstrated as soon as he realized that he liked her. On the other hand, up until episode eighteen, the female lead is responding with disdain, cruelty and, to a certain degree, sadistically when she seems to plan strategists and takes pleasure in hurting him as he tries, diligently, to right the pain caused by his rejection. Once the leading couple gets together, the relationship is cute from her side and beautifully passionate from his. The leading lady’s character was written in such a way that, for the most part, she doesn’t seem to have the emotional intensity of falling deeply for him at first sight and loving him for four years. Huang Ri Ying (as Tang Xin) has played too many insufferable leading ladies and her deadpan expressions in this drama make it difficult to give the viewer the “I’ve loved you for so long” vibe. Overall, even if the leading couple have many intimate scenes, is the leading man who lits the flame with his great acting. Other couples and supporting cast seem less enthusiastic pursuing their love interests.

This quite short miniseries is a delightful romantic comedy with a hot-blooded male lead and a cute and mischievous leading lady. The drama is short so it has a fast paced evolution plot but the story is well developed and everything falls into place at the right time in the plot. The main cast did a good job bringing their characters to life but some of the supporting cast’s acting was exaggerated. The leading couple has great chemistry mostly because of the leading male whose facial expressions really get the audience to understand his emotions. The nice twist at the end explains why he was so fascinated with her and it really makes their love story credible and super cute. This miniseries is a breath of fresh air and it leaves the viewer with a great feeling at the end. Enjoy it!

Revival is a nice miniseries about a mute girl named Mo Yun (played by Zhao Yi Fan) and Quan Yu Xi (played by Qiu Bai Hao), the Chairman of Quan Corporation. Quan Yu Xi Mo Yun is sold by her family to the Quan family that superstitiously believe that a girl with a disability can help him wake up from a “comatose” state after an accident. As a result of this incident, Mo Yu finds herself involved in the power struggles of the Quan family and other people around them. Quan Yu Xi and Mo Yun fall in love but they became estranged after Mo Yun suffers a miscarriage which she believed was caused by Quan Yu Xi and leaves China to, three years later, come back and exact revenge on those that hurt her. From this point on, the drama gets more interesting and Quan Yu Xi leaves no stone unturned to try to rekindle his relationship with Mo Yun. The leading couple has a nice chemistry but the female lead needs to work on her facial expressions. Even so, the male lead manages to engage more naturally with her and the romance is carried nicely. Overall, although the series is not great, it is entertaining. Enjoy it!

This is a very cute and fun miniseries for viewers looking for a breath of fresh air storyline that is simple and fast paced. The main cast did a good job delivering their characters and, although some actors need improvement, the drama was still fun to watch. The romance is light, fluffy, and sometimes frivolous. The leading couple has a good, enjoyable chemistry that was pleasant to watch. The female lead is really funny and, although the drama is not grand, it is certainly entertaining. Enjoy it!

On The Romance of Hua Rong 2, the first episodes are the same old mistrust story from the female lead toward the male lead and the playing hard to get when they have been together as a couple on and off, but it really gets better on episode 9 and on. There is a clip at the end of every episode that sheds light and, sometimes, some humor to something that happened during the episode. There are more allusions to modern time (waterbed on episode 4- hilarious!)and a strong but obvious antagonist that really puts the characters in ridiculous situations. Although the drama is full of clichés and the tiring feminist attitude of the female lead when it is obvious that the male lead is not trying to stop her but to protect her from her own impulsivity, there are many sweet (episode 9- is beautiful when he doesn’t allow her to give him her eyes) and romantic moments between the lead couple that make the title more plausible. Season 2 is nice to watch and delivers entertainment. Enjoy it!

This review is for Season 1 & 2:

This is a really nice short drama. The costumes, choreography, and cinematography are well done and most of the actors deliver the characters well. Although the romance is not a blazing one, the leading couple has great chemistry and a steadfast relationship. The crime cases are simple but the leading couple's way of solving crime, reasoning, and mutual understanding are fun to watch. The ending (from Season 2) is a happy one but it felt rushed and something was amiss. Overall, the drama offers a light but loyal romance, some suspense, and a dose of comedy.

This is a nice drama for individuals who enjoy a slice of history and palace antics about a real power couple that establish the Sui Dynasty. This drama is more about Dugu Jiaolu life and her prowess as she grows into a very influential queen together with her husband. History wise, the drama captures the characters quite well but it truly fails in the love story. Even though one can tell the steadfast love and profound respect the leading couple had for each other through their actions and trust for each other, Joe Chen (Dugu Jiaolu) and Chen Xiao Chen Xiao (Yang Jian) didn’t have the tenderness and loving chemistry that will convinced the audience that they were passionate in love. So watch the drama for a realistic portrayal of a time in China’s history of a very smart couple that had each other back and support all the way to become Empress Dugu and Emperor Wen as they created a prosperous country together. I don’t usually drop dramas but Joe Chen’s dryness and expressionlessness as a loving partner became tedious by episode 30.

Secret Royal Inspector is a great comedy with a historical backdrop. The drama has a well balanced mix of dramatic and comedic moments that are a delight to watch and a small dose of romance. For viewers that are expecting a torrid romance, this drama will be disappointing, but the chemistry among the cast can be felt in every episode. The leading couple is fun to watch and their camaraderie is solid; their friendship, even when bickering, is nice to watch as they slowly but surely develop romantic feelings. The cast did a great job delivering their characters and they are fun to watch all the way to the end. One of the greatest aspects of this drama is the ability of the cast to show the right facial expression for every occasion. Overall, great interactions among the character (Male and female lead, Male lead and his servant, and last but not least Ahn Nae Sang as Jang Tae Seung who raised the female lead and Shin Ji Hoon as the Royal Guard Choi Do Gwan). This drama is fun to watch; as said before, it has great characters and the dialogues are smartly written. Enjoy it!

This is a kind of nice drama to watch while waiting for a great one to come. The leading couple has good chemistry but the female lead was childish and insecure which made up for too frequent bickering that, although they were resolved quickly, it was the male lead constantly trying to prove himself. Her twin sister was insufferable toward her love interest and, although his sincerity pays off at the end, it was also depressing to see him trying to prove himself constantly. Every relationship on this drama had one of the characters been sharp-witted and the significant others acted so childish that their romantic vibes didn’t leave any long lasting impression. The drama has two other romance plots but it really gets tiring. The pairing of naïve and infantile female/male adults with the presumably cold and shrewd characters is tripled clichéd on this drama; as if one is not enough, the drama has three!

This is a nice drama to watch while waiting for a great one. The story is simple but some of the characters were extremely frustrating and the antagonist got to exterminate so many people that the storyline became sickly twisted. The worst characters were Bai Yin Ruo which became really cruel and selfish that it got tiring; also Yang Zhuo, Yang Xiao’s cousin that would do anything for Yin Ruo even when he knew that she was wrong. The leading couple did well together and was consistent with their feelings for each other, even when Yue Zi Yuan tried to not correspond to Yang Xiao’s feelings; she was still loving and protecting him. There are inconsistencies on the drama and the end, even though it was a good ending, could have been more romantic and less comical, taking in consideration that the drama, although it was a romantic comedy, put the leading couple through a lot of physical and emotional pain. Overall, the drama is entertaining.

This drama has a good storyline but the characters and incidents are really tiresome. The main leads are very smart individuals that the writer of this drama decided to undermine by turning the male lead into someone that continuously justifies the ill conceived actions of the female lead and his grandfather and giving the audience a female lead that consistently hurt the male lead with the excuse that she doesn’t want to hurt him. Although the female lead has a reason to suspect the people from the Li family as she searches for the truth and her lost memories, she is scheming and manipulative throughout the entire drama. The romantic plot on this drama is marred by the constant mistrust and machinations of the lead female. Even though there are plenty of romantic scenes between the leading couple, for the most part, the acting from the female lead was not at par with the male lead in creating a romantic atmosphere. There’s a lot of overacting from the part of the supporting cast and the antagonists turned buffoonish by the end of the drama. Overall, this is a drama with a good premise that became disappointing by the end.

This drama is one of those to watch when there’s nothing better out there. The story is about Ling Long, the cause of her split personality (the other identity who lives inside of her is a wolf), her connection with Yan Quing and the Wolf tribe. The synopsis is more interesting than the entire drama! This is one of those dramas in which the female lead remains distant from the steadfast protector male lead until the last episode, making the entire drama quite frustrating and there is not much chemistry among the leading couple. Ling Long was portrayed as smart and resourceful but not trusting of Yan Quing that, for some odd reason, was constantly given a playful aura that didn’t go well with his real persona. The drama had a comedic tone with some dramatic undertones, but the characters were over-acted to the point of getting irritating sometimes. There are many plot holes and, although the drama was about the Wolf Princess, Yan Quing did most of the work. Overall, it is not a romantic drama; Ling Long’s alter ego was much more interesting, fun, and engaging. The drama has some good action scenes and, although it is not a memorable drama, it is watchable.

This is another older woman/younger man drama that falls flat at the end! The drama’s best part was the sisterhood relationship between Xun Xun and her best friend Zhou Quan; it’s really nice and endearing. The part of the synopsis about working hard to get custody of her child is not even one of the premises of the drama since the issue is put on the back burner and there is no resolution to it. The show is about Xun Xun becoming Cheng Li’s lover and supporter that eventually becomes the way that he gets healed from his childhood trauma. Their relationship started out with a potentially good romantic story but it went flat when Xun Xun decided that marriage was not an option for her. The biggest issue is that the story doesn’t resolve the lack of trust that Xun Xun has about Cheng Li’s love and level of maturity to want to establish a family with her. The story makes it almost a comedic and cute plot as he’s left waiting for her to decide when she would be ready for marriage ever again since it seems that a 23 year old man, who seems mature enough to make good and firm decisions throughout the drama, is not mature enough for marriage. It’s really disappointing when an older woman gets into a relationship with a younger man and the resolution is: sit and wait for me! How about people reaching their goals together? Maybe the writers have not heard of that concept yet!

Vagabond is a drama about government corruption and conspiracies that starts to unravel after a plane crash. The drama is packed with action and it has great cinematography and music. The actions scenes are very well choreographed and realistic. Although the main leads get closer and it is obvious that they developed romantic feelings, there’s no romance. All the main and supporting cast was great bringing their characters to life and the plot was consistent with the conspiracies that abound. The overall acting by the grieving families was fantastic and makes the viewer feel the pain and frustration as they navigate and participate in the process of finding the truth about the plane crash. The drama could’ve had a rating of 10 if it would not have been that it ended with a cliffhanger that gives the impression that there will be a second season. Overall, it is very entertaining, enjoy it!
