They just met, he k ew she has a motive since the beginning, even though he starts to trust and care for her, it wouldn’t be too shock if he finds out she has secrets. I felt he is generally angry that he is learning to believe in someone and yet to be confirmed that he shouldn’t. He still does believe her to a certain extend, hence he wants to protect her and keeping her near.
