Yeah, there is more background to that killing…but Liu Yan at this point is feel with hatred and just seeking revenge on Tang LiCi.

I like the direction, editing and how the screenplay was written here. There will be hanging scenes for audience to feel injustice towards the leads, “…why they don’t tell…why they keep secrets…” then as you watched on the revelation is well paced to make audience understand, “ah-ha, that’s why she didn’t say, that’s why he also didn’t tell…”. This type of tropes may seems typical and straightforward, but it takes experienced to pace this well so we can accept each arc’s transition.

I agreed. I also feel that A-Shui is a spy plant beside Tang LiCi by Liu Yan. I think she may be the partner for the dead senior seeking revenge too, just my guess as I didn’t read the novel.
