I wonder why people generalized and labeled quickly. ML is a teenager with raging hormones and in love, and with his lack of love, his way of showing love is to seek for attention, even when it calls for negative attention. He is never a bully.

Hahhaha…he is the only ‘damsel in distress’ for this story and he really needs to do his ‘death’ well.🤣

Agreed, this show has lots of random element that inserted as plot device. E.g ML suddenly knows medicine and can cure FL😅.

FL’s family is from a small village. HuanZhou is another smaller state but more developed and got good school. So only ML knows FL in that school.

ML doesn’t bully FL, he is trying hard to get her attention. But as we know they are age 16/7, so boys being boys, they tend to get attention with wrong behaviour. And in any c drama because of censorship, those themes like bullying, assault will be downplayed.

This show has a lot of witty dialogue and uncover difficult themes of those times, eg. workplace bully, bureaucracy, power bullying honest person being victimized all the time and the ridiculous political backdrop of how the Royal mistreat their subject just for their own extravagant choice to eat fresh Lychee. Then there is the sureplot of revenge, which is quite interesting. This happened prior the downfall of Tang dynasty. The set up takes a while but it really gets intense as ep progresses.

The number of boot-lickers…the wind and tides are changing for ep28, finally. It’s nice that they show us backstory of the side characters (now is Madam ShiQi).

Ep 4, this FL at this point, her character is not very likeable, trying to control the story line yet kept messing up others’ lives…may be she needs to learn to go with the flow.
ML is so busy. lol.

Yes agreed. The pacing and story telling is quite well done. The flashbacks and nice camera angle of certain emotional scenes intensified the process. ZJY is really good in this role, she is acting 10yrs younger and I totally believe her🤩.

Hahahha…exactly. Watching four ep., I didn’t realise it ended. I should have wait for all ep to release and then binge all😅.

FL’s family portrayal is so realistic. For Asian Chinese family, shame is the hardest part to move on, so hiding and avoiding is the only way they know how to cope. FL is quite courageous and resilience for a young girl.
The parents acting are so good.

The intensity is good for first 4ep.
