If you don’t know the original works and just want a good Wu Xia, this is watchable. Fast pace, CP establish their relationship fast. We have the main two couples, Guo Jing and Huang Rong; Yang Kang and Mu Nian Ci.

We would all have our insecurities, man or woman. However how self aware and how we cope with it will often determine the choices we made. FXW and Rose is just a mis-match, in lots of aspect from world views, relationship views to values. etc. They just put themselves together because of circumstances and hasty decision without really considering what they need. Hence resulting in FXW trying to control and change Rosie and she being who she can never be and suffocated. In the being this relationship is doom to end. Saying that many unhappy marriage out there are still being tolerated and compromised and creating unhappy couples, so this relationship is really a good reflection some to gain insight on. I just feel sad for Rosie’s child, as she only realised it after her child us born, what impact it might be for a young kid and often the child suffers, to have a pair of broken parents.

As the title states, this is a tale about Rose which is Huang YiMei, her journey of love and men in her life. Her brother is listed as main cast as he is important to Rose and has his own storyline. If you are prepared for a rollercoaster of love and emotions coupled with frustration and joy for FL, this will be for you. Crystal Liu’s performance is fantastic as always. But just be prepared of the ending.

Ah…I only remembered the 1980s China version, Monkey God, Liu Xiao Ling Tong. I was only a kid🤣. Then it was Huang Bo Monkey God, the movie 2013, directed by Stephen Chow…with huge CGI Buddha.

The MDL rating is not the best way to decide whether this drama is worth the watch or not. For various reason, the common concern most of us have, is comparing with the past re made of this title.. If you never see the past titles, watching this is a pretty manageable drama, fast pace, can definitely follow the story and characters are coherent. Should give it a try for first 5ep. and decide;)
