it’s lazy writing, easier to write a one dimensional character then to allow more grey. I just realised even LiNi and Cui Lin, some of their behaviour just doesn’t always make sense, it feels like because the script say so.

Changge’s father is not imbecile. But this father here is another level, the script makes him incapable of making any right decision. Even when his two sons were fighting, the lines given to him were just outright making him dumb.
